  1. this image is real. it looks like win95 with 16 color vga driver.
  2. Build 9926 is ugly as hell. I can't believe why Microsoft designer have absolutely no taste.
  3. Microsoft released Build 9926 + symbols: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463028 Has anyone tried if Aero works? The current look sucks as hell. The only good thing about 9926 are some better looking icons, compared to earlier builds of Windows 10.
  4. there will be never a Sp2. A new Sp extends mainstream support by 1 year and the mainstream support is over, so no new Sp.
  5. disconnect the camera and look if this improves it. If not, disable the Firewire card in the device manager and only enable it when you need it.
  6. 0x80070091 = ERROR_DIR_NOT_EMPTY share the logs from C:\Windows\logs\CBS and the WindowsUpdate.log from C:\Windows
  7. the trace is corrupted. Looks like you used the Windows 8 SDK/WPT on Windows 8.1. But from what I can see the DPC usage comes from 1394ohci.sys. Which FireWire devices do you use?
  8. use ProcMon to capture activity of this service and look at the callstacks of the Registry operations. Maybe this helps to see why the service modifies the files.
  9. I regularly use this app to listen to radio: http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/944a35af-92d6-444f-8a52-6d4ee81c99f5 It is easy to listen to a lot of radio stations, compared to finding the stream url and open it with a desktop audio player.
  10. Single language is a special version of the Core edition. The Pro always allows to install several MUI packs.
  11. the slowness in the trace is caused by TrustedInstaller which install updates (CPU usage) and downloading videos via bittorent (this causes a high disk usage).I see volsnap.sys calls, so try to disable system restore for drives where you only download data or replace the HDD with a SSD.
  12. the kernel.etl is useless. You must adjust the path. Make sure you have a directory C:\temp or change the path
  13. you miss the + . copy/paste the command into the cmd.
  14. Install the WPT and run this command: xperf -on PROC_THREAD+LOADER+CSwitch+DISPATCHER+DISK_IO+DISK_IO_INIT+FILENAME+FILE_IO+FOOTPRINT+VIRT_ALLOC+MEMINFO+VAMAP+REFSET+MEMINFO_WS+PROFILE -stackwalk CSwitch+ReadyThread+FileCreate+FileCleanup+FileClose+FileRead+FileWrite+FileSetInformation+FileDelete+FileRename+DiskReadInit+DiskWriteInit+DiskFlushInit+VirtualAlloc+VirtualFree+PROFILE -buffersize 4096 -MaxFile 2048 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d C:\temp\diagslowWindows.etl capture a 30-60s of the slowness, press a key to stop the logging. compress the ETL file (to reduce the size), upload the zip (OneDrive, dropbox) and send me a link via PM.
  15. What is slow? To show details about RAM usage, run RAMMap: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ff700229.aspx
  16. boot into the repair options from DVD and let Windows rewrite the boot manager (automatic repair).
  17. I like the UI of LibreOffice which the tools on the right side. The idea of the ribbon was ok, but with 16:9 screens today it wastes too much vertical space, so LibreOffice is better here.
  18. ok, this explains your issues. Replace the drive.
  19. no, I had to create a new XP VM to run an old software 2 weeks ago. It was the pure horror in terms of UX. I would even prefer the ugly Win8 (without StartIsBack or Aero Glass) over XP. Your baby duck syndrome is extreme.
  20. this is a HDD issue. Test your HDD with this tool: http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html Do you see errors in the SMART data?
