Vista is faster because of the better Superfetch algorithm it uses. In 7 MS crippled Superfetch to not fill the complete RAM so that the magazine writer can post that Windows 7 uses less RAM so that the noobs now like Windows 7. Also here 95% of the Vista haters are to incompetent to understand this. Also win7 uses a new Explorer control which is slower because of the library support.
