  5. no way. The problem is your lack of knowledge about NT security Install XP and your user to standard user group and do the same things like you did under Vista. What happens? Right, you got message "Access Denied" and nothing works. But with UAC you can continue your work by elevating the process very easy
  6. google for exe2cab.
  7. I totally agree I've tried a lot and and doesn't make any sense to remove such important parts of the OS. Keep it for compatibility and use other tools like FireFox, VLC and so on. I only remove parts which I KNOW they don't cause error and my Vista runs fine, fast and I can install updates without having any kind of errors.

  12. don't uninstall the WAIK. You still need the WIM Filter driver to mount the WIM files! Tge DLL only contains the API that application can use to deal with the WIM files.
  13. this is a known bug with msxlm4. This also happened with former updates.
  14. never heard about such "verbose mode". Why do you want this? Vistas WIM is a huge Zip file which is extracted during Install, next drivers are being installed and then OOBE shows up and Setup is finished. What do you want to see in detail?
  15. KB954430 is for MSXML 4, which is not included inside Vista. You only need this update if other tools installed MSXML4
  16. Windows 7 is based on Vista so you have to use vLite. Look inside the Win7 - vLite topic to see what you have to keep
  17. integrate the update first and next use vLite
  18. sidebar is hidden in Windows7. You can place the gadgets on the Desktop
  19. sorry, shrinking the OS without using brain.exe is a bad idea.
  20. sorry with the old menu have to do more clicks to get the programs open. You're only intolerant in having new ideas. I hope they never bring those old, stupid startmenu back.
  21. if you don't want to accept our help stay with your issue. We said what you should do.
  22. sorry removing WMP and IE doesn't make your system faster. Buy more RAM to speedup your PC. Always keep such important parts even if you don't use them!!!!!
  23. why don't you keep IE and WMP?
