In Win8 DWM is always on because Metro won't work without DWM. After using the CP 1 week I can say that from the Desktop world it is what I expected from Windows 7 3 years ago. So if I would have desktop only version I would pre-order it today. But this Metro sucks. Metro world no longer uses ClearType and this hurts my eyes. This ugly font rendering + Fullscreen is why I'll never use Metro Tile 1.0 (codename Windows 8).

use Legos Win7 Toolkit, it should work with Win8, too.

yes, ReadyBoot is really broken. I have never does this, but move the files from C:\Windows\Prefetch\ReadyBoot to a different folder and reboot. Does ReadyBoot create new files? Can you now run the optimization?

zip is not so good in compression. Install 7-Zip ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/forums/forum/45797/topic/4711128 ) and compress it as 7z (ULTRA compression ratio, LZMA2 compression type)

symantic driver is slow (takes 18s to start): <pnpObject name="SRTSP" type="Driver" activity="Load" startTime="133102" endTime="151144" duration="18041" Have you updated symantec before the issues started? Can also compress and upload the boot_BASE+CSWITCH+POWER_1.etl?

I don't know what the values from Eventlog mean. Run the optimization and give me the latest trace file. 0x6F = ERROR_BUFFER_OVERFLOW winerror.h - The file name is too long.
