  1. please create a topic in the "Windows 7" section and attach the zipped CBS.log.
  2. I discovered the setting in some of the early 79xx Builds, but this only applies to Server with Desktop Experiencing Role. If you don't install the Desktop-Exp Role Server boots to desktop, but if you add the role it boots this Metro-thing.
  3. hmm, I can't find the superfetch service in the service list. Run sfc /scannow to detect missing and corrupt files. Can you now start the Superfetch service?
  4. 1. your pints are all not true. You don't understand the UAC. Read the link again and see how wrong it is 4. Windows Vista and 7 perform the same. xperf tells me this. 9 steady state was only part of the Windows 7 Beta and was removed 14. where is it better? you posted a PR marketing phrase and nothing more. 15. and Vista not? *rofl* YOu get updates till 2017 for Vista
  5. C:\Windows\system32\autochk.exe scans your HDDs and this causes the delay. Check the SMART values of your OCZ-VERTEX2 and your 4 SAMSUNG HD103SJ Drives.
  6. Try unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:64 to force 64 Media Player usage.
  7. this strange addon? I don't know. I uninstalled it already. 107 points for nothing. I don't see any real sense in this addon.
  8. 1. no, UAC is broken and a security whole: http://www.pretentiousname.com/misc/win7_uac_whitelist2.html 4. Vista is also stable, very stable! i only had 1 BSOD (because of faulty RAM). 6. same like in Vista 7. it is the same. Both use SMB 2 9. ? 12. no, for me Windows 7 uses much mroe RAM compared to Vista (much higher paged pool usage) 14. no the VPC is broken crap. VMWare or Virtualbox are better and work on Vista, too. 15. no, because of 1.
  9. WDP got an update which gives it the same expire date like the Consumer preview (16th Jan 2013). Windows 8 allows you to have the taskbar on all monitors.
  10. SMSSInit is slow (81s): compress the ETl, upload it to mediafire.com and send me the link.
  11. I've used the Consumer preview yesterday and it is a nightmare. Productivity is only 30% of Windows Vista/7, the font rendering and permanet switching between Metro and Desktop generates a splitting headache. I thought my head explodes :realmad: :realmad: I'm so happy to use Windows 7 now, this is soooooooo much eye friendlier. The only thing you can do with Windows 8:
  12. the VS11 looks soooooooooo ugly
  13. again, install Sp1 and make the trace. So I can see what's wrong.
  14. make a xperf trace and give me the file. I try to see which issue you have.
  15. has this solved the issue, too? High performance is not recommend because all power saving options are disabled.
  16. ok. I want to know this so that I can improve the guide over the time.
  17. the power options have an entry to control PCI-E power saving. Try to disable this for the balanced power plan.
  18. XP doesn't have such an service and can't detect such issues. The service causes the high CPU usage because it write the data to the eventlog. Which motherboard do you have?
  19. looks like you have a PCIExpress issue. If you have different PCI-E16 slots plug the ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 into the other slot. The diagnostic policy service detects this issues. Also look into the Even log for more details about the PCI-E hardware issue.
  20. I refer to the XMl creation. He wrotes that he had some issue.
  21. which issues did you have?
  22. no, both don't get a longer mainstream support. All those articles are wrong. MS never extended the support, they only updated to website to show that also home editions get updates because most users incorrectly assumed that they no longer get security fixes.
