  1. Superfetch seems to be disabled. Enable the service again.
  2. this is a good thing. I hat IE9/10 (because of the horrible font rendering) and I'll stay for ever at IE8 and use Firefox instead. replace fanboy with Employee
  3. At the time the support for Windows Vista ends in 2017, install a VM with Vista Sp2 and go to Windows Update and scan for updates. Now open the WindowsUpdate.log and get the downloadlinks to all MSU updates and download them. Burn those updates to a CD/DVD.

  5. accepting broken things is the wrong way. With this way MS never listens to feedback because they know that they can make nonsense all the time and the users accept everything. Do you eat your soup with a teaspoon? This is what Metro is on a desktop PC with a large monitor: NONSENSE which slows down everything. It works a but, but it is not optimal (like eating a soup with a teaspoon). We have different types of spoons, knifes for some specific tasks. And Metro is a UI specialized for touch and nothing else.
  6. NO, I'll never like this mix of 2 UIs merged into 1. My main issue is this horrible font rendering of Metro (caused by the crappy IE9/10 Direct2D rendering) which is malicious injury. This hurts my eyes so dramatically. I always feel this: Also that Metro apps are fullscreen is a cause why I'll NEVER use metro apps.
  7. You Have high DPC usage caused by USBport data transfer (rdwm1117.sys driver). You've also have Driver Verifier enabled. Disable Driver verifier and test again. It should fix the issues because the deep validations no longer occur.
  8. yes, I'm open for new things, that's why I'm also using Ubuntu, but Metro is HORRIBLE on a desktop. Fullscreen sucks on larger monitors!
  9. yes, try to ONLY remove this update and not install it again. The Sp1 still fails at the same point: if this also doesn't work repair your Windows: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html and after this install the Sp1.
  10. I posted here a trick how to do this:
  11. I don't use it all the time. I boot to Win8 (VM) only 1-2 times per month. I don't like this Metro crap. It slows down my workflow dramatically @xpclient the compatibility things still applies. It tries to reduce the color depth only for the app and the color depth of the system still remains at 32Bits.
  12. install the latest GPU drivers or use the workaround from cluberti
  13. only remove the update, reboot and make sure it was removed correctly. Now try to install the Sp1 again. If it fails, upload all the logs again (this time with the setupapi log included)
  14. I like it more compared to the VS2010 UI. I've always applied a theme to get the VS2008 look back. Taste is different. Maybe you get a feature pack after RTM to compile apps for Windows XP: http://blog.m-ri.de/index.php/2012/05/04/und-das-letzte-wort-zu-vs-11-und-windows-xp-ist-doch-nicht-gesprochen/
  15. MS released 2 Updates this Patchday: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/secu/2012/04/windows6.2-kb2676562-x86-beta_b6e4e277b39ba1b3bc721d3d4d178d9cedecd2bd.msu http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/secu/2012/03/windows6.2-kb2658846-x86-beta_8a017df021d9e6a9166a86b3848f13a89b3fa756.msu
  16. look under "installed updates": http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Troubleshoot-problems-with-removing-updates Yes, upload this file if the setup still fails.
  17. MS listens a bit. Now the color is back in the VS11 RC: They also removed the caps in the test like "Solution Explorer". But now the Mainmenu items are all in Caps like "FILE", "EDIT". This looks so ugly gain But it's getting a bit better. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2012/05/08/visual-studio-11-user-interface-updates-coming-in-rc.aspx
  18. You forgot the upload the setupapi.dev.log. The setup fails due to USB driver issues: this causes the rollback. Do you find the USB drivers in version 6.1.7600.16788? Try to remove this updates: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2529073/en-us reboot and try to install Sp1 again.
  19. ok, if you need help, compress the trace and upload it (skydrive, dropbix, mediafire.com) and send me the link.
  20. please try the suggestions from here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wptk_v4/thread/b88aa183-d3ee-4cd1-92d6-e466c07e1a2f
  21. you have USB issues: your iTunes and HPTouchSmartMusic software causes a high CPu usage. Please also install the latest iTunes version and install the Win7 Sp1 + all missing updates.
  22. welcome to msfn
  23. was WPT (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit) added to the PATH environment variable? if not, add it: http://www.windows7hacker.com/index.php/2010/05/how-to-addedit-environment-variables-in-windows-7/
  24. no, this is not the correct address. HEre is a sample of my skydrive: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=128fc518635be2dc&id=128FC518635BE2DC!125
