  1. yes. Go to the folder where you stored the files and run those 2 commands: xperf /tti -i bootPrep_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl -o 01_summary_boot_start.xml -a boot xperf /tti -i boot_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl -o 02_summary_boot_end.xml -a boot open both XMLs and compare the values: In the 02_summary_boot_end.xml both values should be smaller. if not, upload the 2 files boot_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl and bootPrep_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl as 7z or RAR to your Skydrive, dropbox and send me the link.
  2. the bad trace shows me that the plug&play service causes the delay: - <services autoStartStartTime="11115" autoStartEndTime="32371" autoStartDuration="21255"> <serviceTransition name="PlugPlay" group="PlugPlay" transition="start" totalTransitionTimeDelta="20000" firstCheckpointTimeDelta="4" processingTimeDelta="19995" container="DcomLaunch svchost (976)" startedAt="11115" firstCheckpointedAt="11120" endedAt="31116" /> disable some devices (like the USB3.0 port) and test if this helps.
  3. the hotfix worked for the WMI issue. Is is now completely gone. But loading profile is still slow. I need more data. Start ProcessMonitor and activate boot logging. Now run the xbootmgr command. After reboot, start ProcessMonitor again and save the data into a PML file. Stop the xbootmgr log and compress all files and upload them.
  4. USBport i still an issue, but 2 others also have huge impact. The ataport.sys causes some spikes. I can see that the Diskeeper service causes an extreme CPU usage. Your HDDs seem to run in IDE mode and this seems to cause the ataport DPC issues. Device Id, Device Description, Device Friendly Name So stop Diskeeper and only use the Windows internal defrag tool which only runs if the PC is idle. Now the interesting part is netbt.sys. This is NetBIOS over TCP/IP. it ha only 24 DPCs but all of them are horrible slow (at least 2000µs). Try to find out which service program depends on NetBIOS. Maybe it is Diskeeper which communicates this way.
  5. ok, loading your profile is extremely slow. can please you try this hotfix: Unexpectedly slow startup or logon process in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2617858/en-us Does it help?
  6. can you please upload it to your SkyDrive/dropbox or a faster free file hoster (zippyshare.com or mediafire.com)? RS is soo slow for a free user (16kb/s).
  7. yes, this audio is used for HDMI. Again, do you really care about this 2 s? 13s to boot is very good Other would be happy to have this.
  8. hyhrid/fast boot doesn't work in a VM. But I can't see the relevance of the flashed BIOS.
  9. please make a trace without running DPC latency checker in background. i got wrong results when the tool runs.
  10. I have no idea why this is so. Do you really care about this 2 seconds? 13s is very good. With Win8s hybrid/fast bootthe resume of devices should be faster. Have you tried Win8?
  11. please make a new trace without all USb devices.
  12. Looks you have USB issues: Total = 63795 for module USBPORT.SYS Elapsed Time, > 256 usecs AND <= 512 usecs, 2100, or 3.29% Elapsed Time, > 512 usecs AND <= 1024 usecs, 2947, or 4.62% Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 3990, or 6.25% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 1508, or 2.36% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 4, or 0.01% Total, this is too high. Does it occurs if your unplug your Logitech devices? The Logitech drivers (LMouFilt.Sys, LHidFilt.Sys) are involved. If this doesn't fix it, unplug your USB phone and your USB HDD.
  13. VPC doesn't support 64Bit guests, so it can only run 32Bit guests.
  14. your Windows boot in 10s to the desktop and is fully booted in 13s. And yes the Audio HD controller causes the delay: So update the ATI/AMD graphic drivers to update the HDMI sound driver and the realtek sound driver and see if this fixes it. The other thing I see is the Acronis service (nonstop backup) takes some time to start.
  15. if you want the old Windows way (taskbar, Startmneu) try Cinnamon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamon_%28user_interface%29 http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/ This will be part of next Linux Mint http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Mint If you really want a copy of Windows 7 UI try ZorinOS: http://zorin-os.com/free.html But they still use Ubuntu 11.04 a base. It will take some time until they release a new version which is based on 12.04. http://zoringroup.com/blog/2012/03/22/more-news-about-zorin-os-6/
  16. make the xperf trace please and upload the compressed (as 7z or RAR) DPC_interrupt.etl (zippyshare.com, mediafire.,com, dropbox, skydrive) and send me the link.
  17. VirtualPC (KB958559) installs on all WIn7 Editions (except Starter), so you don't need the Ultimate. Here is a guide to install Win98: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/05/27/installing-windows-98-on-windows-virtual-pc.aspx
  18. My thoughts exactly! try the Precise Pangolin http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/
  19. ? this is a Vista feature.
  20. I always suggest drivers from direct vendor, not the subvendor.
  21. you can also use xbootmgr -remove to stop logging.
  22. Before optimization your Windows needed 123s to boot to the desktop and 258s to boot completely. <timing bootDoneViaExplorer="122823" bootDoneViaPostBoot="268323" After optimization your Windows needed 37s to boot to the desktop and 78s to boot completely. <timing bootDoneViaExplorer="37291" bootDoneViaPostBoot="88991" this is a huge improvement. Try to disable some startup tools with AutoRuns/msconfig to reduce the 41s delay which is causes by starting all tools at startup: postBootDisturbance="41700"
  23. @jaclaz everyone has a different taste. I personally hate the metro look. The colors are ugly and the first thing which I disable is the ugly lock screen. This is annoying for me on the desktop
  24. this is the gray theory, but in practice IRQ sharing is still an issue for some users even when using the latest drivers.
  25. no. Please upload the DPC_interrupt.etl in a compressed file (7z, RAR) to your SkyDrive (try the new Windows app or to an One-Click hoster like zippyshare.com or mediafire.com.
