  1. How old is your VAIO? Did you know you can usually call and get replacement media from the vendor (Sony in this case) and get replacement media for really super cheap? I know exactly where you are coming from man, really I do. Microsoft really likes to bleeeep, bleeeep us about the OS's huh? You HAVE the license for your VAIO but no disk right? Did you delete the recovery partition or are you wanting too delete it and starting fresh? I dunno what to tell you except that Dell disk is really not going to work on the Sony. They are tied to BIOS checksums and all sorts of weird crud. Sorry for the bit of confusion I thought 1 license was in question here.
  2. Actually I thought to myself "HEY! Super a new msi editing tool!" Then I read the EULA and it fell into my recycle bin (The installer that is) Man I hate apps that hide stuff like that. It did look nice though. Thanks for the link maybe I'll see what registration entails. HOLY BOUNCING BEACH BALLS!!! http://www.pantaray.com/register.html Thats really expensive! Sorry but I am not even going to try it out.
  3. OK couple of things: Please fix your title (Typing all in CAPITOLS is rude and annoying) Can you ATTACH, not copy and paste the last_session.ini from your vLitled disk?
  4. And to think I could barely copy a couple of handfulls of them without one or two reading wrong... So with those numbers you are looking at several thousand dead disks. (We are talking POUNDS of dead disks here people ) Or maybe I just always had bad luck. Maybe we can build a life-like statue of Jesus from them
  5. I am not sure you could clean the disk to work well enough in your VIAO laptop. They REALLY, REALLY make those OEM disks hardware sensitive... Hence why they only work on Dell and not Sony. BUT all opinions aside, legally you can't do it as OEM software is tied to the hardware (The Dell PC) and in the EULA of the OS (Which you agreed to when you started\installed Windows for the first time, whether you had seen it or not ) it says that the Windows install is tied to the hardware. So in effect, basically, YOU don't own the OEM copy. Your Dell PC does. I am sorry but that is the plain old sorry MS fact of it. Quote from an actual MS email about the OEM EULA:
  6. Belarc can help identify any limitations you might have then. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html And this will help find drivers and hardware id's. http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html As for benchmarking\other type of apps then I dunno of any others that might help you and are free.
  7. MY BAD! I was really thinkin it hadn't been updated. I am sorry for bugging you.
  8. YAY Thank you very much! I think I will have a grab at them...
  9. AHA!!! I see said the blind man.... Ok well I tried. Glad to at least be of a small suggestion.
  10. Ummm did you say OEM version? Yeah that is probably the issue. Those disks are very funnily made. Hard to clean out the junk.
  11. ULTRAISO!!! Personally I like it the best. Although you cannot save images that are like over 300megs without a registered version... ooops I forgot the link ---> http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/
  12. I did not know that. (I never encountered this error) Thank you very much for this tip.
  13. Honestly you don't even need sp1 unless you are installing it on a running pc. I went from gold to sp3 right when it came out. You say though you tried a few keys? Are you absolutly certain they are all legit and the same type??? Remember there are several different basic types of XP.
  14. I like to play with it and be very nostalgic... Lots of people here take it very serious though. Its really a very good OS but getting it to run is becoming VERY hard!
  15. No not in all occassions but this link may clarify things up a bit for you. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/57/ Basically what it boils down to is all that crap outside the I386 folder, yeah thats just useless fluff. It's NEVER used unless you have MCE, Tablet edition or manually activate any of the stuff in it... Saves you a TON of space. Thats what its all about right? Please ALWAYS remember your CD ident files though (Win51 and so-on, the really tiny ones there is only 3 or 4 of them you have to have) # in an ideal setup. Win51 Win51** Win51**.sp3
  16. Hey damian666? Can you please update this? UPX: Changes in 3.03 (27 Apr 2008): * implement cache flushing for PowerPC (esp. model 440) * fix cache flushing on MIPS (>3 MiB compressed, or with holes) * fix MIPS big-endian * bug fixes
  17. Have you considered VirtualPC (Which is free) or VMWare? Seriously it is a must to test these things virtually...
  18. Yeah like when your pc dies? Seriously though a Black one?
  19. Well you did ask in the 9x, ME forum section.... Did you expect answers for say, Vista?
  20. nope sorry...
  21. Please remove the pic that has your cd key in it...
  22. Have you tried just installing WMP sliptreamer first? nLite might be looking for reg entries...
  23. Any good AV will tell you that. Plus the fact that the file has been allowed to stay on the forum for so long grab it while its there. Although I don't support undermining Nuhi by continually hosting the files in posts you might as well take advantage of it. After you get the files do the following using winrar: 1 = choose "extract here" on the wimfltr.rar you just dl'ed 2 = look in the folder there might be a snake (Inside Joke really) but you can inspect it so you know just what's in there. 3 = right click on the folder wimfltr and select "add to archive" 4 = select these 3 options - "Best compression", "Create a sfx archive" and "Create a solid archive" 5 = click on OK 6 = open the new wimfltr.exe with winrar (right click on it and "open with winrar") 7 = add these comments: (click on the pretty little comments icon in the winrar toolbar) ;The comment below contains SFX script commands Path=vLite SavePath Silent=1 Overwrite=1 Now all of a sudden you have a silent installer of the wimfltr for vLite with files in it you can trust!!! MUCH better than an unknown file someone made that installs whatever huh? Edit----> My keyboard betteries were dying!!! Very crappy looking with missing letters...
  24. OK then whats wrong with the archive on post #13???
  25. Like has been said OVER AND OVER again just keep a copy of v1.1.6 laying around... Or just make a winrar sfx file that points to the right folder and extracts those files there.
