  1. Check in your Windows.old folder.
  2. In order to fit them all on one screen, I went to List, rather than Details. Every service up to Workstation (highlighted in the screenshot) is in a Started state.
  3. Haven't tried x64 yet. I'm running x86, as I was looking for maximum compatibility for now (installed x86 on a 4600 X2 without problems, however).
  4. Beware of some large images. Got raid working somehow in this build on an nVIDIA based controller, too. This might be my main OS for a bit (maintaining a WinXP install on a separate drive as well). Edit: Decided it was easier to just make a webpage out of it. http://server.counter-strike.net/files/vista.html
  5. But in messing around last night, I kept getting the normal 'driver could not be installed' type of thing for my stripes. This morning, I booted up into Vista, and to my surprise, my 2 stripes were sitting there, happy to be accessed. And just so you don't think I'm pulling your leg: So, for those of you that have had problems since Beta 1 (I had NO problems getting my raids to show up in that build), give it a try now. I may actually use this OS for my primary for a bit, now that I have access to all my stuff.
  6. Video card? If it's not a DX9 capable card, you won't see Glass. If it is, you need to install the LDDM drivers for the card.
  7. 3 different systems (of which I timed the installs), and none of them took longer than 35 minutes, total. Not nearly as fast as my WinXP installs, but certainly not an hour and a half, or three hours.
  8. Mine works fine. Did you use the drivers that were on MSI's site for your onboard? (I presume that's what you're using).
  9. If it's a self extracting EXE, try installing Winrar (the latest beta version), and extracting the contents via the right click menu.
  10. You are not limited to 64bit drivers unless you're running the 64bit version. 32bit drivers for the 32bit version, 64bit drivers for the 64bit version.
  11. Right Click on Desktop>Select Properties>Select Settings>Select Advanced. Under the General tab, you can change the size of your icons.
  12. Try C:\Users\username\. I think you'll probably find your pictures there. As far as virtual folders are concerned, you might want to read up to understand better how they work.
  13. Vista doesn't currently have raid capability (except for a single Intel chipset, apparently), as far as I know. I've been working diligently to find a workaround for nForce4 chipsets, but I simply think it's not available atm.
  14. For the Windows Search engine, just shut off the service if you don't want it (you get a little less overhead by doing this, as it's not running the Indexing service at that point). Not sure about the other one, as I don't have that icon.
  15. Exact opposite of what's actually there, as is apparent just by running it.
  16. Expect more drastic changes in the next beta. Most of what you see right now is, in fact, just GUI changes, with some other minor enhancements.
  17. Not a single network drop...yet *crosses fingers*. Using the Marvel GB LAN onboard.
  18. Not sure, tbh. I think it's going back to the CPU throttling thing, too. I can run 3d apps, but they're painfully slow (such as AM3, for example).
  19. Easiest suggestion? Find a PATA drive and install to that.
  20. I should probably back off some, as I do the same thing sometimes. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't solve my dilemma.
  21. 3d app testing would require that you could actually run 3d apps in this version (I haven't been able to at least....not yet, anyway). Could be that I've got an error somewhere that I haven't found yet.
  22. Why is it that every forum I've posted it in, nobody ever reads the whole post? My CPU runs as if CnQ is enabled, regardless of whether it is or not OBVIOUSLY, if it was enabled, I would expect it to throttle, as that would be my desired effect.
  23. Is anyone seeing CPU throttling with Vista? My CPU runs as if CnQ is enabled, regardless of whether it is or not (I'm running the latest available CPU driver from AMD as of this morning, but the throttling was happening before and after). Basically, if my CPU isn't under load, Vista drops the multi to 6x from 13x, but if I do anything CPU intensive (say..Seti), the CPU goes back up to 2.6GHz, where it should be. I'm running the Always On power profile as well. I'm at a loss here.
  24. Thanks But althoug I try to install to an IDE drive the setup files is copied to the SATA drive as my Win XP is on that and I wan't a dual Boot and don't wan't to reinstall both op's on IDE drives. Guess I have to go and buy myself some DVD discs so I can boot directly to the instal DVD but think it should work with mounting the ISO also it have worked with previous Longhorn builds but guess they have changed something now? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Even the way Vista installs is different now, so yes, it's changed.
  25. Natively, no. At least not at this point.
