  1. this page http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000474.htm lists a bunch of reasons for your error. it sounds more hardware related than software. did you just update the bios? sometimes that can cause more problems than it solves. try an older version
  2. it can be set with the %homedrive%, %homepath% and %homeshare% environment variables
  3. MSDN is a good place to start looking for more info MSDN but note that there are limitations as to what you can do with SBS. It is designed for Small business that would only be running one server anyway. from the Wiki: SBS server has the following design considerations: [8] Only one computer in a domain can be running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server. Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server must be the root of the Active Directory® forest. Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server cannot trust any other domains. Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server is limited to 75 users or devices depending on which type of CAL. A Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server domain cannot have any child domains. Terminal Services only operates in remote administration mode on the server running SBS 2003. (Change from SBS 2000 policy)[9]
  4. try looking in "setupapi.log" i have been getting an error in the nlite.inf on first boot - i just havent got around to figuring out why yet.. from setupapi.log: #W383 "wab50.PNF" migrate: PNF Language = 0409, Thread = 0c09. 5. is OemPreinstall=Yes in your winnt.sif? because if it is then F6 to load drivers does not work have a look here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=17915
  6. have a look here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321098
  7. I've had the problem from time to time (word 2000 and 2003). never really found a definite answer. it never happened often enough to worry about. there is this link... http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-u...530&sid=303
  8. turn the laptop over. has dell stuck the sticker with the keys on the bottom? that's where they were on the last two dell laptops i ordered.
  9. look under tools > Options > Email Options > Advanced email options and uncheck "suggest names while completing to, cc and bcc fields"
  10. just because it crashes on tv-out does not mean it will crash when using the dvi. they are two completly different things. also, you don't need a dvi device to use the dvi port. an every-day crt using a dvi-dsub adaptor will work fine (like in the pic). hunt around and you can find one for about $5 - $7
  11. I've been using dual monitors for years and have found that some hardware combinations just don't work well together. you might be fighting a loosing battle. this is made worst when the specs of your second card are way below those of your main card. every time a window with 3d content crosses to the other monitor it will stuff up. now, you said that your agp card had DVI? like in the attached pictures? if so, why not but a DVI to DSUB adapter and run both monitors on the one card. choose the "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" option in the dispaly properties. since you say the driver crashes, try a different version.. try an older one. are there any bios updates for the AGP card?
  12. if its the nforce4 chipset then the nvidia reference drivers should be ok http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_wi...4_amd_6.69.html
  13. sysmetrix http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/
  14. look under device manager - system devices. do you have a "system speaker" listed? if not you won't get sound from it. did you install the drivers for your motherboard/chipset?
  15. I've had this complaint from a few people over the years. It was almost always the refresh rate of the monitor (their screens were always on the default 60Hz). Try a higher rate and see if it goes away.
  16. Excel is great for manipulating data/numbers/graphs/etc. Once you start looking at what it can do you realise it is very powerful. and if there is something it can't do, you can write your own code/macros to make it do it.
  17. use something like Regshot -Here- to look at what he changes and then make you own reg file to change all you settings back in one hit. i'm sure there are ways to export/create GPO settings (i'm not sure how - google it). there must be because there is an option to import them. create your own GPO settings file to bring them all in in one go.
  18. i think i read somewhere that old versions of ghost could do the HPFS file system but i you can choose to install os/2 on FAT. just make a partition image and dump that on the dvd. what version of os/2 were you after? i think i still have v3 warp at home... somewhere... dunno if the floppies still work
  19. try Wise InstallTailor.... Free http://www.wise.com/installtailor.asp?bhcp=1 or use Orca (free - hunt for it on the Microsoft site) and edit the .msi directly - can be tricky..
  20. you could try some thing like: http://www.officecalendar.com/ http://shareo.4team.biz/ outlook 2000 had net folders but i think they removed it in later versions. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/assistan...0551021033.aspx other info on sharing outlook 2003 http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistan...1477571033.aspx hope this helps
  21. there is a GPO setting under "computer configuration\administrative templates\windows installer" where you can set "always install with elevated privileges " and a few others that may be of use
  22. One other obvious one you didn't mention... have you added a policy allowing port 123 to ISA/other firewall software (if you are running any... )?? I had to do it on my 2k3 SBS server (ISA firewall) to get it working.
  23. you could use nlite to build a new xp install disk, and under options change the profiles path from %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings to D:\Documents and Settings - or what ever you feel like.
