rick go into bios at start of booting u no setup and go to boot order or whatever put everything on auto detect and make sure the cdrom is pinned to be a slave there be a pin diagram on cdrom case.if all else fails set bios to default value save and reboot good luck.

i got a old acer 780cx working manage 2 get 98se on it anyway when i had 95 on it i set it to always on thus it was but under 98se i set to always on yet the monitor goes black every 1 minute of no mouse movement is there a cure?

who needs open source when people in here are slicing dicing 9x and making it better,as far as w2k goes its got a better kernel like i care.and w2k like 6 months older than 98se anyway.if u use 98se its because u like the simpicity its light easy 2 use and u probably arent on a massive network or give a rats a** about sercurity u playing pogo games and emailing granpma or yahoo messenging your friends you probably couldnt care less about the guts of 98se only appeciate the little proggies that enchance the look.if u can run 99%of your stuff on it who cares if xp or 2000 got more stupid features.im tech savy but ill run anything thats got a browser.it always seems 2 come back to the 98se is a dinosaur bit ,lets face it its all old including 2001 xp home.why dont they stop making new versions and settle on a base os and update it with service pack every 2 years be alot easlier maybe ill call bill at remond probably home ill straightn this out np. open source is always a good idea it allows people to prefect things.that explains microsofts problems lol.i know your reading this bill email me anytime same addy chow.

You always hear people asking why u running 98se on that computer run this instead so out of curiousity i want too know what you are using to run 98se.dont tell me about other oses plz just 98se plz.thx

link my man if i had a board with those cards etc of course i use xp to fully optimize my system but the way i see it alot of hardcore 98se users dont maybe lowend p3s a few p4s so i guess there never need drivers for cards they cant drive lack of ddr ram slots etc lol.But seriously if u run 98se same 4 2000 there are limitation roadbocks a few twist and turns.The piont is 2 get the most outta the system u have as mdgx says the neeeed for speed getting the last once of speed though tweaks patches etc.its not about beating the jones or being first on the block with vista its about making do.we cant all afford to update we dont all have a tech savy mind .What this forum and msfn as a whole offer is a remedy that average ham n egger can deal with.you use the os that best runs in your system period. I love this place ived learned so much a vast potpurri of knownlegde the programs tweaks are super .hell i remember my first time in here i found some logo 4 98 xp look and thought i hit paydirt never mind 98se2me sp 2.2 etc .telling people stop using 98se in a runabout way is pointless ask a 95 diehard lol or a w2k to switch ,fat chance.let enjoy the forum let contribute lets help the newbie out everyone in here has benefited in some small way dont u think. party on dude . long live 98se.......

sometimes the latest version of a app aint always the best more features maybe better gui but more bloat means more resources kinda like xp. hail nlite and that microwinx guy lol.

f1 or esc should get u into bios see if cdrom is enabled .

B) seems to me if u add all the patches etc then it aint micro anymore just a nlited xp cd.now if u designed it for gamers then it doesnt need anything more than lan etc.but u must choose between size or functionality i doubt u can have both without losing the micro idea .maybe the 2 verions are the way 2 go like microwinx gamerz extreme and microwinx lite for standard use just my 2 cents.

i agree nortons interface is to much its like a windows setup program just to get to the settings kudos 4 kerio i use it.

is the only thing different on a game when installing is the installer. ived hear of guys hacking the installer with a msi editor and unchecked boxes that dictate what os 2 use or not use is this possible to do 2 more games?

do u have java installed and try reloading cam drivers.
