  1. h**p://desktop.google.com/download/googletalk/googletalk-setup.exe Why, is it any good - please share your ideas with us humble folks ... LOL
  2. My question is - can I use other burning apps than Nero Burning Rom and Windows Media Player to burn protected *.wma audio files. The reason is, you pick up a favourite burning app for this and another for that solution so I'd really like to know since it's a bit restrictive to have the choice of only 2 apps ... Anybody got any thougths on this ?
  3. As for me, I quite like Opera as well. Sadly though, FF seems to work better on some occasions - online mail, online payments and the like ... I've come to think that maybe it was Kerio Personal Firewall that was blocking some of Opera's functionality at the time. So I may go back to trying it again. Does anyone else experience these kind of problems w/ Opera opposed to FF or maybe Iexplore ? Like Jito here, I quite like the clean interface of Opera and I very much like the idea that it's not based on some other browser like Explorer or Netscape. Greetings - Jacob
  4. Thanks, Krakatu ... Unfortunately no solution in this way. Guess I'll just have to get Proofing Tools or Multi Language for Office 2003. - regds. jacob.
  5. Try the latest stable build of FireFox, v. 1.6.0. I know it's not like Mozilla Suite (which is what you mean by Mozilla 1.7.11, I suppose ... ?!) , but at least it's a well working browser from Mozilla. Greets - Jacob.
  6. Thanks, Krakatu. I'll have a look at that. Regards. - Jacob
  7. Well Rip - You can just disable M$ A/S before starting up the game - can't you. Some things work pretty sluggish w/ the Antispyware running real time so sometimes it's easier to just disable that while running those programs. I suppose you don't surf high-risk untrustworthy sites while playing WC, do you ?
  8. I heard about a week ago - so it's not really "news" ... Too bad though - we'll probably see no more builds of Sygate Personal Firewall Personal or Pro - that's a shame. It's a good non-bloated product and most of Symantec's are exactly - bloated and system-hungry ...
  9. The point is to deny unauthorized outbound access - that's all, Lost Soul.
  10. @duhu - I vaguely recall something about some Yamaha burners that have blue lasers. You might want to check this particular brand out regarding that kind of laser. Hope you find one
  11. Well, I can answer part of the A/V-A/V question: Yes - it's possible to run have 2 A/V's at once - just make the one run residentially - like norton, mcafee, trend, kaspersky, eset or whatever and the second run on-demand - a decent one for this could be Bitdefender Free for instance. You can also just fine run A/S with A/V. I currently run Norton Internet security 2006 (beta testing it, of course) with M$ Anti Spyware on one of my machines and on an other I run Norman Virus Protection with M$ A/S - works as expected :-) Hope this gives you part of the idea Greetings Jacob
  12. Earlier i posted a question regarding language files in Office Since I got no replies - I think maybe it can be done in a "slipstreaming" kind of way - does anybody have an idea how I might come about that?
  13. If a file can be played by WMP I use that. I kinda learned to accept WMP after v10 came out. It's nicer than v9 anyway. The reason I lean toward that is that other players don't easily accept files like protected *.WMA files and so on.
  14. @Mindwarper - Please note on this forum that warez is a no-no to discuss ... And "Hiren's boot..." is warez. A note concerning your problem though: You might consider trying an other partitioning tool (look around - search - at MSFN) instead of Partition Magic - I know some people here like other products like acronis' or others ... Then come back and report you findings ... Kind regards Jacob
  15. Just go to control panel->add/remove programs->add/remove windows components and untick internet explorer after that just run the installer for iexplore v6. You may have to restart in between removing iexplore v7 and installing iexplore v6 Kind regards - Jacob.
  16. WinRAR is my favourite - been that way for decades - and the "demo" continues to work which is fine so really - WinRAR it is!
  17. Yeah - you have to use the "normalize" function in there. Another great proggie for this (but a bit of an overkill ) is Adobe Audition - that's real neat - but at a cost Greets - Jacob *edit* You don't want to make them normalized first and then reencode to *.mp3 because the way that works is by first uncompressing the audio and then normalizing it - so if you then reencode to *.mp3 you'll certainly hear a decrease in quality. You can however, leave them as *.pcm or uncompressed *.wav so you don't recompress ... Just need a lot of HDD space ....
  18. How about BartPE - that's free isn't it? And can be used to create boot cds - not?
  19. You're welcome - sorry I couldn't help, though ... Greets - Jacob
  20. Oh yeah that's a useful suggestion - only it's a laptop so I'm not so keen to disassemble it - furthermore it's a Dell so it might want a Dell-battery (I say this because I wanted to put more RAM in it once and it wouldn't accept the ram from Kingston or whatever so I kinda gave that up another incidence is the tft screen went dead once - something with the background lighting or whatever and my friend who's an electronics repairman couldn't repair the friggin' thing cause he did only have generic parts and not Dell's so I had to get Dell to repair that - now that'd blow a big hole in my pocket ) So - replacing the battery might not be a viable solution though it seems the one obvious thing to do But thanks for the link - looks OK
  21. One of my laptops has a dying battery. So the windows time is a bugger to maintain. So I'm looking for a good time synchronization service program - preferrably freeware - for Windows 2000 Professional SP4 Does anyone here have a good suggestion? Thank you in advance ... *edit* it has to be able to pass through NAT and SW firewall ...
  22. Hmmm - maybe Deep Freeze from Acronis in conjunction w/ their Anti-Executable - not sure whether they can be administered remotely though ... *edit* No website policy though in these products ...
  23. Trend Micro PcCillin 2005 pretty much does it for me, although I've tried lots and lots ... I kinda like Kaspersky as well but it's a bit resource-hungry ... If I were to choose I'd say PcCillin WITHOUT the optional firewall installed- 'cause its a neat AV though the FW leaves a lot to be desired ...
  24. @always_online - the problem is ZA itself Could you try another free FW like Sygate free or Kerio Personal - that'd solve your problem most likely If you MuSt use ZA there's probably some automatic setting to turn off that blocks the d/l ... Read the manual! Hope you get things sorted ... ! Kind regards - Jacob
