  1. This is a great app I've used for a while. It lets you collect files from different locations and put them in a 'basket' to drop somewhere later on. You can also choose to drop only selected files within the basket to a location of your choosing as well. Lately I've been running w/o it and realized how much i came to depend on it. It's free and easy to remake through reshacker. (I don't like my r-click menus to be wide so I remade it to this...) I made a silent setup that installs to c:\windows\addins with the above menu. Feel free to PM me if you want it. Get Piky Basket 2 here
  2. yes its normal. there are issues with nt 4 and multiprocessor / uni processor systems. You can try turning off ht on your actual machine to see if it will workaround this issue. I'm sure you can find more at vmware's support area.
  3. Intel Nic drivers have been problematic for a while. Putting the drivers in manually usually fixes the problem. Start a fresh build via the 2005 Wizard. Skip adding the intel set when you include your own drivers. When the wizard allows you to manually add your own files, copy e100b325.inf --> I386\INF\ e100b325.sys -->I386\system32\drivers\ intelnic.dll | e100b325.din | e100b325.cat |--> I386\system32\ e100bmsg.dll | prounstl.exe | it should now work.
  4. are you using the correct drivers for 2005? (erd 2005 is based on windows 2003 system set). are they the exact same drivers you are using on your current system or did you just grab a file from the driver install package?
  5. after trying a few newer ones, i like the ThermalTake SilentTower 112. It is big and a pain in the a%$ to install properly, but even after a little overclocking and at full load, my temps have not been over 49c without a fan! (though you can actually install 2 on it) Pure silence! All the P4 coolers are big it seems. The Zalman CNPS7700-Cu seemed promising, but i was not impressed with it after using it for a month. Just my 2c worth. Hope it helps
  6. are you booting the dvd in vmware or on your comp? try usin the diskemu command instead.
  7. you have the profile set to CD, not DVD. add everything you want to include in your project using cdimage. Now open Nero to burn the iso. In the main window where you select 'Burn Image', the 'New Compilation' window will pop up. On the upper-left of the window will be a drop down box to set the disc type (cd/dvd). Select dvd and (at least i) use Disc at once and finalize cd.
  8. if you extract the pftw exe, the installer as well as the driver files are present. If you need just the drivers, you can collect them yourself, or use nlite or a driver backup/collection program to make your own install. if the setup installs a program as well, post a D/L link to the exe and i'll look into a repackage method.
  9. clearing temp internet files is the standard method to fix 'view source' problems as well. (Unless notepad is damaged or missing). Preloaded images are usually related to java. Update java and be sure that your security restrictions are relaxed enough. if all else fails, try to reinstall IE (you need your OS cd to do this) Run---> rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf
  10. whats the version number of the installer exe?
  11. the fact that it happens even after rolling back to a previous image and that it allows you the option of booting an active partition would suggest that you have a custom bootloader. Try Recovery Console to repair your mbr and then reinstall drive image...check if a floppy is in your system and also verify the bios has the correct boot sequence.

  13. change to setupsource = "\OEMH\"
  14. Before you try anything Make a sector by sector image of that partition or HD (i prefer acronis true image 8). Just about any type of recovery operation attempt will further destroy any chance of recovery if that attempt fails. It is vital that you make an image before trying anything, even chkdsk. Afterwards try some HD recovery progs such at Acronis Recovery Expert, Winternals Disk Commander, Ontrack EasyRecoveryPro, Restorer 2000 Pro v2.0 chkdsk, even installing a newer OS version sometimes will allow a partition to be revitalized. If one doesn't work, reastore the image and try another. Failed delayed writes, bad sectors, corrupted file tables, OS selectors, partitioning slip ups are just a few of the wonderful things that could cause this.
  15. Yes, it worked for me. Set up a comp w/ that board a week ago w/a unattended cd. Did you enable raid controller & change 'enhanced ide' mode to RAID in the bios?
  16. If that truly was an issue, you should check w/ whoever made the card reader for driver updates. Realisticlly, that device could be plugged into your comp while sp2 is updating. Though i would disconnect the HD's while it does so. Drive letter should be reassigned w/o problems unless that letter is taken, in which case the drive letter will change. You may need to go to disk managment to 'rescan the disks' for it to detect your external hd and/or reinstall the original pci card drivers
  17. i will make an assumption that you renamed the i386 folder to something like ERDC in your multiboot distro. FF has preference files that reference i386. Example = "/I386/system32/FireFoxProfile/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/pluginreg.dat" all the files hardcoded to I386 need to be changed. (or just leave ERD Commander2005 in the I386 folder. Also, FF needs temp space so if you are testing it w/o a HD (like VPC w/o a V-HD) it also will not work)
  18. erd commander does not support all programs. Also, there is a limit as to how many programs can be started at any given time (4 is the limit). if FF is reading/writing to an unsuppoorted path it will not work
  19. i have faced the same issue. This worked for me, hopefully for you as well.
  20. this is about win2003 not xp. do a search that issue has been discussed
  21. Though it's not Freeware, Reg Organizer can list and allow modification/export of all keys from a program as well as monitor installs (& more of course). I find it to be quite acceptable for many tasks.
  22. copy the sys & dll files to \winnt\Driver Cache\i386 and \winnt\system32\drivers copy inf to \winnt\inf it also wouldn't hurt to r-click on the inf to do a manual install. i also put copies in the service pack folder if one exists in the winnt folder. i don't know why it 'forgets' that it has the files, but doing what i suggested has (at least for me) fixed this problem. if you have a ntfs partition, i suggest using Hard Link Magic so as to save space. HLM will make a reference to the files though it will seem like it is making copies of the files. Very nice for keeping back up copies and minimizing disk space usage for such loveable files like driver.cab (Kinda like using optimization for a cd build.)
  23. probably the different config and settings used by your vid card (like YUV, pixel shading, z-buffer, etc). I have an ATI7500 mobility that plays smoothly, but when i used a distro cd with a desktop 7500 pci card it had problems with full screen vids so i understand your frustration
  24. you have a codec conflict. Uninstall winamp, k-lite codec pack. reboot and then install just the divx codec at divx.com. The basic dl is free. Make sure you have latest Direct X and that graphic accel is at full. Also, try VideoLan 8.1. It rarely has problems playing vids. Codec Packs seem like a great thing, but they often cause more conflicts than they resolve.
  25. check txtsetup.sif and fix your entry for SetupSourcePath for example a default cd install would be SetupSourcePath = "\" not SetupSourcePath = "\I386\"
