  2. Drivers Folder: SIWinAcc.sys si3112.sys System32 Folder: SilSupp.cpl txtsetup.sif will require you to paste all entries stated in txtsetup.oem under the appropriate category. add to txtsetup.sif [sourceDisksFiles] SiWinAcc.sys = 1,,,,,,_3,4,1 si3112.sys = 1,,,,,,_3,4,1 [HardwareIdsDatabase] PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_437A&SUBSYS_437A1002 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4379&SUBSYS_43791002 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_B0021458 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_436E1002 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_B0021458 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_02B71014 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_35121014 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_82641033 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_01661028 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_35121095 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_82641033 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_82141033 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_01661028 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_B0021458 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_311215D9 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_34238086 = "Si3112" PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_31121095 = "Si3112" si3112 = si3112.sys,4 SiWinAcc = SiWinAcc.sys,4 [sCSI] SiWinAcc = "SiWinAcc Driver" si3112 = "si3112 Driver"
  3. 1st, It would help if you bought ERDCommander2005 as it includes options to add SCSI/raid drivers during the build process. Having said that I suppose one could open the txtsetup.oem that is included in the sata/ raid package you want to add and cut & paste the respective entries into ERD Commander's txtsetup.sif. Finally copy the driver files into the correct folders. (EX:*.sys --> Drivers folder. *.dll most likely --> system32 folder) If you are still confused do a search for adding drivers manually to Recovery Console. It is basically the same procedure.
  4. Sounds like a corrupt/broken install. If Sonic 's msi installer is giving you that much trouble, download & install MSICuu from MS. When you run MSICuu click on Sonic's entry and delete it. Afterwards, I would recommend cleaning your user temp folder and delete Sonic's folders if they still exist in Program Files and Common Files. Reboot and reinstall. Or use another burning program to burn the iso.
  5. AdminStudio w/o question is the best IMO. However, the cost is extremely high and if you are look for something less expensive, you can't go wrong with MaSai. I have been using it off and on since it's beta days and the features are well worth the $. They have really fast and helpful response time for support if you are unsure about something or if there is a problem. Includes a repackage and validation plus much more.
  6. kernel method: In True Image 8, one must include the Recovery Manager folder along with enabling joliet to activate/manipulate the Secure Zone. I'm not positive, but I don't think you will have access to OS Selector in Disk Director 9 Graphics look bad. Some kernels can be shared between different Acronis products, thus if space is an issue in an extreme sense, one could squeeze a few extra megs in their compilation. WBT method: In True Image 8, Recovery Manager folder need to be added at AIO root and joliet must be enabled. No loss of any functions/options and graphics are normal. If space is an issue then your not gonna find a compromise here as there is no way to optimize the different wbt's
  7. RecCons or repair install: For the sake of simpliciity, make another copy of each OS and then modify winnt.sif to include just your key or delete winnt.sif (The switch UnattendSwitch="yes" is what kills repair and Recons if this copy must be customized, but it's best always to have a vanilla copy of each OS in a multiboot distro.) SFC: Run it either from RecCons, or in windows. You need your cd unless you invoke the switch to copy source files to the harddrive through whatever OS's winnt32.exe. Usually sfc is picky and looks for an i386 folder at root of the cd, I'm sure it can be altered but in all honesty I don't use sfc all that much.
  8. ask for a refund or exchange for DiskDirector9. Those programs are consolidated into DD9 and I have not had any problems with raid/ide add in cards so far. (and I actually do work with quite a few). what kind of card are you using?
  9. if you pick the right 9800 card, you can save some money by getting the 9800se and unlocking it w/ a bios flash to a full 9800xt and enjoy all 8 pipelines and features (like overdrive). The key is getting the right card (might as well get a 9800se w/ 256 ram while you are at it IMO) Today's hardware was already outdated yesterday....best not to dwell on these matters too deeply.
  10. there are no additional pipes to unlock on the 9550 so a speed oc is all you can do. if you want to use ati's drivers, you are going to need to circumvent the 9550 overclocking protection by flashing the bios to a 9600. Otherwise use can use modded ati drivers or a utility like ATITool to OC it. Either way, you will need to monitor the temps, and getting a better cooling solution like ATI Silencer would be advisable. Even slapping some Artic Silver on the heatsink and putting some mosfet heatsinks on the ram chips would go a long way to improving the card's health in the long run.
  11. it depends if new features are unlocked or if it is just oc'd faster in which case your limit is how far you went to upgrade cooling. some flashing like 9800lt to 9800xt will give a big boost because of the extra pipelines that are opened. look into what the hardmod will do to see if it is worth flashing.
  12. yes, i agree. Set it to system or set it to the min for c and system managed on a seperate hard disk if you have one. XP always needs a page file regardless of the amount of ram to run everything correctly and this is one setting that windows in genreral knowx what is best for it. If you are trying to get a faster response from programs and you have a seperate harddisk, try moving your profile's temp path and also adjust any program that uses temp space (photoshop, nero, etc) to that seperate HD.
  13. a fairly obscure cmd is during the promt for flppy based drivers... Press F6 screen, if you press F7, supposedly a different (more compatible) set of hardware drivers are used. Windows 2000 may be having problems with whatever mix of real and emulated hardware you have. Did you add your own drivers to the install? And as the prev. post stated, if booting off a big iso, you will run into problems. Did the other OS's (XP 2003) work? I don't think it is ISO file size however because that usually stops you upon boot. It sounds like you got stopped after booting and selecting a OS. You can also use a XP boot folder to trigger a 2000 install. Might as well replace 2000's ntdetect and ntldr while your at it as well. Good luck and try it on VMWare. Just reg. an email and you can get an eval of v5 fully working.
  14. also check modified dat/bin files leading to the boot folders. If you hex edited them yourself, a common mistake is appending instead of over-writing the 4 letter boot name.
  15. it never hurts to resave the image with a fresh injection of whatever loader.bin file you use, Resetting the defaults in the bios has solved a related issue for me once or twice. Also if you go inside your pc a lot. Dbl chk the ide cable, it may be loose.
  16. if you remove modify drivers or change the cabs, you may not have enough room since optimization will not be working at it's best. Delete the lang folder and the upgrade related folders if you need to.. I always like to have a vanilla copy of xp on a xp modifed setup cd.....RecCons and recovery reinstall options are always nice to have
  17. one of the files (dll's) during load is corrupt or has a bad crc. Try copying the files again from the cd or redownload the 4-disk set used to boot windows 2000. Make sure the cd you are copying from does not have scratches or read problems. And replace ntdll of course.
  18. erd commander compiles the iso for you. You then select to burn image or iso file from your burning software. Sounds like you have a already built copy you are trying to modify or a copy that has just folder contents, but not completely built. As such it's probably best not to discuss this. However, you problem is not uncommon to a multiboot distro.
  19. erd commander 2005 is based on win2003 system files but you can build it on a xp system. the program brings it's own needed files. (if space is an issue on a cd/dvd you can even use mostly xp files instead of 2003 via manual replacement)
  20. maybe you did damage it, but considering floppy is usually first device to boot, and floppy boot disks seem to really get involved when booting, the problem you have sounds like normal operation. go into bios and turn off floppy boot seek or similar named option, set floppy to the last boot device. that should help.
  21. 1. mask everything that shouldn't be painted with good masking tape if you are painting w/o removing the face plates (use blue or green 3m tape). Afterwards, use a heatgun /hairdryer at a low temp to warm up the tape and then firmly smooth the tape out w/ your finger to make sure it is sealed tight. 2. lightly sand until smooth and use at least 90% by vol. alc. to clean. If your really want it to look good, use a scuffing pad followed by light dabbing w/ a tack cloth. 3. The best paint i have ever used and the only spray paint i use for quality are two brands that are made for models. Tamiya and Pactra. Pactra makes a metallic silver (very light sparkle) and Tamiya makes a solid can of Silver Leaf. Tamiya and Pactra cost more than krylon, but are very durable (these paints are made for RC cars), sprays w/o sags or orange peal and i don't have to do multiple coats w/ sanding. Also, you can handle what you painted within 2 hours w/o problems. It's really had to mess up the paint job with good model paint unless you didn't spend quality time doing the sanding and prep before hand. I use a very light coat to begin and after 3-5 min., I do a nice steady spray to finish. DupliColor and krylon often show fingerprints over time on silver/chrome. These two model paints do not. Regardless of the paint, throw your can in hot (not boiling) water or right under a lightbulb for 10min. to warm up the can. You will get a finer spray mist, less chance for spray blobs or spatter and a uniform professional coat. If you use too much heat, the can will explode so seriously, do not put it in boiling water!
  22. Longhorn transformation pack 10.exe /x
  23. If you connect lots of power demanding items like lights, fans, devices, etc... check that the power connections are snug and connected correctly. If they aren't the power supply can shut off instantly. Also if the bios is set to regulate temps and you don't have any temp sensing fans, that also could cause your problem. Check that your board is properly grounded (it should be on raisers) as well.
  24. clean the speaker contacts with deoxidizing solution (DeOXiT or ProShow) and plug the speakers into a discman and wiggle the cord, to make sure it is not the connection. The fact that it has a somewhat regular interval and not just completely random also would suggest a software issue. Maybe (esp if it's a laptop) it is starting to power down certain hardware devices. Maybe a prog runs when no user activity is is detected and is interfering with the audio. Also, things like dishwashers, garbage disposals and microwaves can cause interference if your buildings wiring is old or poorly done. Also, if you have a crappy speaker cable or if you have audio and power cables bunched together, that will kill some sound quality if the wire insulation is not thick.
  25. First, what type of aspi do you have? Some people swear by forceaspi116 (it's not the newest) because of very little compatibility issues (i use forceaspi118 myself). If you use nero, drop a copy of wnapsi32.dll in system32 folder Second, did you flash with latest dvd firmware? Third, what type of discs are you using that it won't recognize the media? try with just audio cd's. did you try to r.click and access via 'explore' or in the dvd player's properties, try refreshing table info under 'Volumes'?
