  1. I think you mean ... http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/SFCFILES.DL_ But I know you are just showing off that ryanvm.net ! (GreenMachine.net is long gone, alas) EDIT:: Silly me: forgot to add Thanks, RyanVM!
  2. Found it ... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23805 2nd post, thanks to prathapml.
  3. They are. I cannot remember the post or the forum, but there are links to both the deploy cab file, and the support tools somewhere around here. And, of course, the links are to Microsoft's site.
  4. No problem, and I certainly did not want to call you "stupid". Just take it slow, one thing at a time, and you'll get it all working! Test as you go, and you will easily find the errors.

    SP2

I think, Wriath, that he meant that even that wasn't working, I think, but could be mistaken. In fact I remember once in the begining of SP2 betas getting something like that, and for that reason I simply downloaded the complete XO ISOs for testing. If there is such an error, I would certainly think the fault to be in your current installation, as SP2 seems to be working fine for everyone else. Try on a "claen" installation, or at least another box, if you can. You could also try in the Windows XP forum: there are many more SP2 slippers over there. One way or another, you'll probably end up on SP2 before too long ...
  6. That driver looks a bit tricky, as there is more than one SYS file needed, and my automated SATA integration does not like that. Get in touch via PM, and there are a few things we can test.
  7. That's true ... forgot to mention that earlier. Someone needs to do the Hotfix list. However, from the looks of that image, iOpus is having trouble getting the empty list. Looks like a firewall/proxy type issue, of which there have been many with iOpus. Since the list is empty, your really don't need to download it. In fact, that being the case, the whole point of my afore mentioned workarounds is lost. Simply set DLAUTO=NO in XPCREATE.INI. No downloading will occour, and you are on your own for the correct hotfixes, until someone provides the list. In the next release, I plan to have a user defined "Language" variable that can over-ride the XPCREATE determined language: Incorrectly English for the Norwegian version in this case. If you do determine which hotfixes you need, please do take frankiboy_01's suggestion, and fill in the missing information as described in the thread he linked to above. Sorry for the misunderstanding (or temporary brain loss), and I hope it works out.
  8. XPCREATE will need an UNMODIFIED Windows Source CD (Original Microsoft CD). That means any subsequent modification will need to be done ... subsequently, after XPCREATE has done it's thing. Thus, I'm afraid I must tell you that which I've told many before you that wanted to use nLite, or jdeboeck's scripts: Use XPCREATE, get your CD tested and working, and then move on to the next step. In short, I wont even look at any errors that happen to installations that have been "modified". Sorry, but I really would have no more clue than yourself as to what's wrong. That said, have a look at the XPCREATE Web Site, under the "Current Hotfixes" section (which, unfortunatly, is not current ...), and you will see where to place DotNetFX so that it is included in the XPCREATED CD. Also, setting DLAUTO=YES will most likely cause many errors and unpredictable results: you will be adding SP1 hotfixes to an SP2 CD. Never tried, but I can imagine that it will not boot, or continuosly reboot. As for SP2 hotfixes, I **** well hope Microsoft is taking at least a couple of days off, and haven't made any yet, seeing as SP2 is less than a week old!
  9. Hmm Might have to name you WISE-guysmiley! Just teasing you, guysmiley, because on your third post, you are showing me up. The truth is, I never mastered that output redirection. In fact, I never even really "learned" DOS Batch coding (I was busy working on our company's OS for PCs when that competitor, DOS, came out). What you suggest seems to make perfect sense, and I'm upset with myself for being so ... whatever! I tested and it works just as described/expected from the command line. Looks like I know who to call now! Thanks much for the tip. Now to rip out all that code I'd been using to avoid these types of error messages. Please accept my belated Welcome to MSFN!
  10. That complicates matters ... For now, change "English" to "Norwegian" somehow, and you should be OK. You might need to do a XPCREATE run with no additional files (SPx, fixes) and edit the CDSOURCE directory. I hope I don't have to start checking that "Merknad til bruker: IKKE SLETT ELLER ENDRE DENNE FILEN." string. If anyone knows an easier way ... please clue me in. For now ... I'm off for at at least a few hours. Sorry for the quick answer: I gotta run. Please post your findings/solution.
  11. So was I! (You didn't really think I'd drink half-pints, did you!)
  12. I thought everyone in Norway spoke English? Just kidding you! Please cut and paste the text from the I386\PRODSPEC.INI file on your CD. If your quick, you'll catch me before I'm off to the course. Welcome to MSFN, Gilrim!
  13. Well, just goes to show you learn something everyday: I never thought of the translation to Pint, I just knew saying those words got me what I needed. The method that I've found that helps me most learning a language is to forget the translation aspect. If I need to know something, I always prefered it explained in it's native tongue, even if I didn't understand all the other words. I think that this had more to do with being lazy, a bad student, and hating to learn from the written word, but heh, it works for me! I also figured if a three year old could do it that way, so could I! Guess I'd better learn to order half-pints now ...
  14. **** drivers: they really can cause unpredictable results. That's why I always send people back to the "failsafe" install. I think you'll be safe with the next version of the driver, at least from what I've demised reading about the NVidea drivers. Glad you figured it out, and thanks for reporting the cause.
  15. The "File not found" errors are (almost) always harmless. They show up because I check the directory, and nothing is there. I haven't found a clean work-around for this yet: it is the result of a DIR command where there are no files that match the FileSpec. I get the same, and it does not present a problem. There is no SVCPACK directory because, again, there is nothing there to add. This is not a bother on a CD install. A quick workaround may be to add a dummy file (e.g. dummy.txt) to the directory FILESCD\I386\SVCPACK, which will force the creation of the SVCPACK directory. Do let me know if that fixes it.
  16. Shhhh ... No emabarrasing me on my own stomping grounds!
  17. Not yet sure what I'll do, but after discovering that it don't work for me on my travel box, I guess I'll have to take it seriously! Thanks for the offer, Wraith. I'll let you know!
  18. I'll try to get to them this evening. I think the next XPCREATE version will have a directory that can contain the individual files added by the user. Now to remember how I did it ...
  19. I thought so ... I've added to my "In Progress" (and I use the term loosely) version. Thanks for that! I am still missing the eastern languages (Arabic, the different Chinese, Korean) and Hebrew PRODSPEC.INI information.
  20. Not sure I understand the "Another question". Hotfixes should not be downloaded twice, but the downloader should not stop. For the second quesion, the way to have XPCREATE work the quickest on subsequent runs is to make sure it uses the directory CDSOURCE, which will contain the slipstreamed source files (avoiding a second slipstream). You could also save some files from NEWFILES that have been repackaged, such as DOTNETFX, MOVIEMAKER and JVIEWER, and add them to SVC-POS, but that won't save that much. Other than that ... more memory, a faster CPU, and, most importantly, a faster disk, such as one of the new wicked fast SATA drives. (I know, not the answer you wanted ... ) That's about all, but the disk is really the key: make sure there is a lot of room, and if possible, don't use the same physical disk the OS is on. Yes, XPCREATE is slow. But then again ... so am I!
  21. But, but ... I speak Flemish! (Dutch, viseversa?): Een bintje, twee bintje, dri bintje ... (Didn't say I could spell.) Just messing with both of ya's. I was certainly not offended, and am pleased to know you got it figured out!
  22. Looks like I must have got the name wrong, and misunderstood the post ... I was thinking of a site/domain name that sounded something like that, not a software program. Sorry about that. But there is a third party mirror that has been hired out many times before. How embarassing ... !
  23. ... Or checking the created CD with CDCHECK?
  24. Microsoft has used SHAREAZA as a download mirror for years. I did forget all about it until now. I believe that it is also used as part of their server farm sometimes: the address will be www.microsoft.com/somethingoranother, but the IP will resolve to theirs. EDIT:: Disclaimer ... Well, I'm pretty sure SHAREAZA was the name of the site. Might have been something else, though ... There is a 3rd party mirror that they hire out at times.
  25. Thanks, Alanoll. Looks like the error is still in there. That might take them a bit longer to "correct", but they will if they know about it.
