Looks like a little bug in the code to determine source language. Ooops. Unfortunatly, I won't have much time this month to go over that code. Sorry... I'll post when updating the next version. Thanks for the report! (Unexpected Error ... Geez, I wonder what an Expected Error looks like ... I'm making fun of them, not you Edi!)

Thanks again, 1dimitri. Looks like the XP lists may be a mute point now, so I'll have more time for 2K and 2K3.

The old WINNT.SIF.TXT problem. Been so long since I saw that one, I'd forgotten about it. (Gotta update that FAQ...) Thanks, Alanoll, for the cleanup!

Looks like most everyone else posting here knows more about select media than myself: I only use what's included in the MSDN subscription. Still, nice to learn something here for a change! Thanks, all you helpers, for your input. Just wish there was a way I could convert those 300 hours (and I do believe it) to 300 hundred GreenMachine Beach Hours! Florida? How 'bout 300 Daytona Beach Spring Break Hours! (Though my neck would get sore from all the turning, my eyes dried from the popping, and my belly wet from from the drewling ... )

No problem, Famer, I'm just trying to make my stance clear! (And avoid extra work ... ) My toes are OK.

There should really be no need to edit XPCERATE.INI for the first run. Please se THIS post, make a standard, failsafe ISO, and see if that works. You could move the downloaded files to the correct directories, but do start with a virgin XPCREATE.INI file. I have not seen this issue before (that I remember ... ). It could be something as simple as a single corrupted source file. If a new, failsafe attempt produces the same error, attach the LOGFILES.CAB file to your post, and I will see if there are any clues there. Good luck, keep us posted, and ... Welcome to MSFN!

Maybe it works fine, maybe it doesn't, and maybe it just appears to work. However, the bottom line remains that I do not support it, and am not interested in debugging it. This is not because I do not believe in nLite, as I have the utmost respect for nuhi and his product, but simply because I do not have the time nor desire to understand all the intricacies of a program I did not write, I do not use, and for which I do not have the source code. Use nLite first if you desire, but please do not post here if it does not produce the desired results ....

That part of the code is ... awkward ... at the moment. What does work, is to install XPCREATE to a new, empty directory, place your Original Windows CD in your CD Dirve, and let XPCREATE find it, copy it, extract the boot image, update XPCREATE.INI, and make your new ISO/CD. You are best off NOT editing the XPCREATE.INI file for the first run, unless you need to avoid downloading the hotfixes. In this case just change DLAUTO=YES to DLAUTO=NO. If you need help, the only file I want to see (attached) is LOGFILES.CAB, from the NEWFILES directory, and not parts of the XPCREATE.LOG file or XPCREATE.INI, which I tend to skip if included in the post. So ... give it a try as outlined above (without modifying anything the first run), and see how that works. Bienvenue a MSFN!

SFC_OS.DLL hack for XP SP2 Final
GreenMachine replied to Denney's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
RaveRod again, eh. Why am I not surprised? Thanks, Mate! You always are watching out for us lazy ones! Perhaps I need not ask ... but have these been PEModified? -
No, an hour wait isn't right. Post your LOGFILES.CAB file from the NEWFILES directory, and I'll take a look when I can.
-
What I'm getting at is simple:XPCREATE needs a CD to start with. This CD must be an Original Microsoft Windows CD. The one with the Microsoft Hologram on it. I don't know how any program could modify this, as it is read-only media.
-
iOpus is an easy way out. Works for some, not for others. If there is a problem with it, disable it with DLAUTO=NO in XPCREATE.INI. I will not be debugging it at this point.
-
The download module was not designed to work behind a software firewall, I have not tested it to do so, and I do not plan to. It is a third party, stand alone module that I only know enough about to program it to download hotfixes for those that cannot be bothered to do so themselves. Change DLAUTO=YES to DLAUTO=NO in XPCREATE.INI, and you will have no more download problems. If you are worried about adware/spyware, perhaps you'd be best off using only professional quality software that you pay for from a reputable source. P.S. You are welcome ...
-
I have succesfully added both, but only tested in VPC. For what that's worth ... As you mention, both have the same PnP PCI ID, so with both present, Windows will always pick the same one as the best fit. I consider this to be very shoddy engineering, and for this reason, I will not be purchasing any Promise Controllers (who knows what else they've overlooked ... ). You could add both, and then pick the desired driver after setup. Sorry, that's the best suggestion I could come up with. Also ... no cross forum double posting - please read the rules. Welcome to MSFN!

SP2 should work, try it and see (I don't have it). DirectX 9C has not been integrated/tested, and there is no XPCREATE support for it at this point. As for nLite questions, you'll have better luck in the nLite forum: I have no experience with it. Developement has been stalled due to ... VACATION!!!! P.S. Welcome to MSFN!

Only use XPCREATE on an original, non-modified source, e.g. a Windows Distribution CD with the Microsoft hologram.

KiXtart-scripts instead of Batch-files
GreenMachine replied to xolox's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Well ... In the end, it has little to do with the tool: the key remains in the logic used, and a correct solution to a given problem. I'm sure I write better Command Scripts than many Kixtart Scripts, just as I am sure Radimus writes better Kixtart Scripts than than many Command Scripts out there. -
Hmmmm ... now we have the Product Key in TWO posts, and the same person cannot edit them both. Alanoll?
-
I don't think the quotes or UPPER/lower case matter, however, I do believe that it is UnAttendSwitch, and not UnAttendedSwitch

Geez, when I said "Hang 'em out to dry" I didn't mean masacare the poor soul! Sorry, Ropera, but at least you brought up something for us to rant about! (You can come back: no one is mad at you!) P.S. Gotta love that "source", as noted in the update. Somehow I doubt those are Microsoft's words ... Me, I'll believe it when it happens. Otherwise, it sounds like Bostonians, and "This is our year"! (Though I do hope we don't have to wait another 85 years ... )

pendejerto, please post your LOGFILES.CAB file (Welcome to MSFN!)

Nederlandstalige UXPCD tutorial
GreenMachine replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
6 Years in Brussels, in the 80s. Even got a master's degree in IT from night school at the VUB (though the classes were in English), while studying French at the ULB in the morning, working afternoons, and spending many, many wee hours at the Mirano. -
Nederlandstalige UXPCD tutorial
GreenMachine replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
But ... in German you ARE allowed to "roll your own". I must say, your example beat my own. Still, my favorite was always "upgef*cked", which I got out of the mouth of a "real" German. As I didn't really take the time to read the translation, my post was suppoesed to be a free bump, and a "Thank You" to Bâshrat. As for making fun of the Dutch, don't worry, Bâshrat is a Belge, who do not have the hangups of neither the Dutch nor French, and can happily make fun of themselves, and take a joke. If they could just move that country south 1000 Kms, I'd still live there... -
luckyy is on the money (Welcome to MSFN!). WINNT.SIF in FILESCD\I386 seems to be the key: you need to create both the file and the directories. Also, the file I need to see is LOGFILES.CAB, from the NEWFILES directory, not my own XPCREATE.CAB! Good luck, and let us know how it works out.

Naaaa. I say we hang 'em out to dry a bit first! We need some fun, too!
