UXTHEME.DLL hack for XP SP2 Final
GreenMachine replied to Denney's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
If you payed a tad bit more attention to my PM, you might have also heeded my request to keep this a pleasant place. So, what's the point, vorte[x]? That you've got the biggest dick around? Or that you are the biggest dick around? Get a life ... GreenMachine, a.k.a. The (No Longer) Anonymous Board Member. -

GreenMachine replied to Mike500's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks for clearing that up, sandman_qc. To re-iterate, the only recomended updates Windows Update shows for me (all non-critical) are: Journal Viewer DotNet Framework 1.1 HighMAT -
UXTHEME.DLL hack for XP SP2 Final
GreenMachine replied to Denney's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No you didn't, you simply compared the original Uxtheme.dll to a patched Uxtheme.dll I don't have any patched uxtheme.dll files from anyone else. I only patched the SP2RC2 SFC_OS.DLL based on your files. The rest is my work. SP1 is the only file that I used someone elses file to hack. These SP2 hacks are entirely my work... Not a comparison of someone elses file. I'm sorry if this sounds a little abusive but I don't like my work being put down to me copying someone elses (especially when you have no proof). Saw that coming ... I would be a bit peeved myself. A post like that adds nothing but insults ... In any event, RaveRod has been doing these for us for a while now, and I, for one, appreciate it. -
Your honesty about the Key Abuse is admirable. Generally, I don't bother with those who post a pirated key. As for the maniac bit, who knows. I'll never tell! Actually, I just got off a few weeks posting nothing, and there will be a few more before the month is out: I'm into long vacations ... SP2, and being somewhere my mobile phone has service (thus I have Internet) has brought me back out. As for running "these" forums, this is the only one I have any say in: my own little Green World. There are many others that do a lot more than I, with Aaron and Alanoll being the most active in those forums I participate in. And they are a lot busier than myself. One is enough, or that Hitlerian aspect of me would really get out of control ... Heaven forbid they grant me the power to ban others! GreenMachine has the last say on so many of those posts, simply so I know that I have been there, and keep me from reading the same post twice. One differene from the User Contributed Projects Forums is that they are more a question and answer forum, than general discussion. True, the XPCREATE learning curve is a bit steep, but once you are in, it's not that bad (as you yourself noted). I like that aspect, as it seems to turn off those that are not willing to help themselves, and leaves us with more "advanced" users. A simple weeding process, and it eases my workload, and my patience, a tad. So, what's Ananth mean, or is that truely a Christian (or Hindu) name?

SP2 - what to leave out now?
GreenMachine replied to Mike500's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Odd, I slipstreamed SP2 into a Gold (i.e. Non SP1) VLC CD (MSDN Version), and Windows Messenger was already updated. The only optional updates missing are Journal Viewer, DotNet Framework and HighMAT. Are you sure that WMS 4.7 was listed? When you start WMS (without having updated it), what does it show as a version number? Mine is 4.7.3000, Copyright 2004. -
I'd guess jrzycrim is right, though I couldn't tell you from my own experience. You'd also have a lot more luck posting in the correct forum (this is not XPCREATE releated), and I would suggest a title that gives a hint about your question, not just that you have a problem. But your still Green, and you'll learn! In any event, I renamed the thread, perhaps someone with the power will move it somewhere that more potential responders will see it (I cannot move threads). Good Luck, and ... Welcome to MSFN! EDIT:: Thanks Aaron!

[IEPopupBlocker] Invalid Error
GreenMachine replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No, haven't tested it yet. I sure would think that should be wrapped in quotes, as there is some white space in there. Where did you get the new ref.chm: I don't see it in the SP2 Slipstreamed XPCREATION. Is there a whole new deploy.cab somewhere? -
SP2 Disk Size , After Slipstreaming without mods

Spheris! How ya doing? I guess they finally let you guys outta that room, and up for air! Allow me to present my meager compliments on what looks to be a job well done, and say that I much prefered to wait than have a rushed version. Anyway, I guess this will have the strippers busy for a while, though my work always seems to make the CDs bigger (and better!) than the other kids on the block. Though I can wait to see the bug reports where the users forget to mention those "removed" files. I think I have enough spies in XPCREATE by now to make sure there is nothing funky to start with, but I still can be "outsmarted"! Now go get some sleep: you deserve it! -
SP2 - what to leave out now?

As soon as Sun has a clean Win32 version, I'll add it too. Much as I like Sun, always have loved thier boxes (21 inch Sonys all those years ago), and prefer a "real" OS (Solaris) coded by professioinals a million times over some freeware coded by a zillion non-commited Sunday afternoon programmers (Linux), I really don't think they are too interested in, or commited to, those Windows applications, and it shows! Haven't we been there before, RyanVM? In any event: good to see you back around! -
You didn't really expect anyone to read that long cut and paste, did you? You've got it narrowed down: remove half the tweaks, if the problem continues, remove half the rest. Repeat until the problem disappears. Then add half of the removed tweaks until it comes back. Trial and error: always works. It's not as long as you may think: try it with a search in a phone book for a name, and you'll see.

XPCREATED ISO checks in at 581 MB (609,839,104 bytes). Cleanup? You'll have to ask the maid about that one. Still haven't tested it, though. -
Chouette! A post with no errors! Another happy customer! Glad it worked for you.

Good to see I got you all going. I encourage a little language diversification, though I still think everyone should know English! And as far as Yiddish goes, I think we have the market cornered on it over in the U.S.!
-
That reminds me: maybe we are finally done with that 817778 update! Now I just hope I haven't upset too many in the MS LAN department enough to have 'em make another like it! Just remember, you MS guys, it wasn't Spheris' fault, I kinda pushed him into it!
-
Not sure SP2 doesn't make this one unneeded, too, but thanks for the help!
-
Thanks, fellahs. Should have time to look into this ... soon (but probably not as soon as localized XP SP2 versions).
-
Thanks again, Bilou, I've not forgotten!
-
The easiest thing to remember is that the FILESCD directory is blindly copied over to the ISO/CD AFETR XPCERATE does it's thing. So, any "customizations" should really be in this directory.
-
I think you, jsposato, are a little more "seasoned" at this point, but if this is still an issue, feel free to post back. And remember, you need to take time to make time!
-
For now, you'll just have to grab a copy of the HFLISTS.TXT file while it is working. From there, you can figure out how to edit it, and read in some of the other posts how to set it up for local use. Or simply set DLAUTO=NO in XPCREATE, and hand select the files you want to add.
-
Still nothing in the works to replace iOpus with a more suitable program, but the next major update WILL address this. I'll probably go to a true command line utility, as suggested by Jjazz and Bilou_Gateux. To be continued ...
-
No problem. Do post if you find a better solution than my meager "suggestion". I'm not too optimistic, and still disappointed in Promise on this one. Good luck!
-
That's the ticket, one step at a time, diligence, and patience. (If needed, a shot or two of Vodka, and a ballgame on the TV!)

If I could I would, but if minimized, nothing downloads. I have reduced the number of annoying windows to a minimum: the rest I cannot get rid of. But ... you do have my sympathy, and do know I have the same problem! Good Luck!
