  11. quicksilk, I want to have something similar to what Peter G wants to set up but I don't know if ur method does it. Doesn't this create a user account locally, and can the user then access it from a different PC? Or does it work if we make the user name and pass match the one from the other PC? I'm confused :S
  12. about these admistrative $shares, can I access them from another PC in the network if I know the local PCs Administrator's user:pass?
  13. Hello! I have a network set-up with a workgroup. I would like to access the shares of another PC using a user account name and password from the PC i'm trying to access. I did this once before (unintentionally ) but I can't do it again... probably simple but I just don't know how. Thanks
  14. Hello! I have a Wireless G Linksys Router. One computer is connected through cable and works great. The other two PCs are connected through wireless connections. These work great when accessing PCs shares and is very fast copying files, but the internet is VERY slow. This isn't the case for the main PC that is connected through cable... wireless connection is also constantly falling. What should I do? The issue isn't range because signal is excellent!!
  15. Try network stumbler to check the signal... rules out that WinXP is screwing you over. Try Upgrading firmwire and drivers for what it's worth.
  16. what MB do you have? I had problems with USB and with an ASUS P4C-800 when I installed the Intel accelerator thing.
  17. run-> "msconfig". Check under start-up
  18. Albator... so you only have the OS files in C: partition. Do u put Program Files in a seperate drive? Do u have to reinstall them upon formatting C:\?
  19. Will try tonight and let u know if it works
  20. Hello! I disabled windows simple file-sharing, and under 'security', I configured it so that only one user has access to it. I would like to share this folder, and also allow a second user to access this folder over the network. I am in a workgroup but can't work out how to do it. I go to properties->Sharing->Permissions. I want to add a user from the other computer but can't seem to do it. Am I doing something wrong? Is there an alternative way to achieve this? Thanks
  21. Hello! I basically have a set of folders that I want to view under the list mode (Right-click - View - List). How can I make this apply to ALL the sub-folders within a folder, w/o doing it one by one?
  22. I recently bought 2 x 400GB Hitatchi SATA drives. I'm going to keep my DivX collection on them so performance isn't really an issue. I know that if one HD fails (knock on wood), all my data would be lost if I was using RAID 0. Under JBOD, does the same apply or will I be able to keep the data on the second drive that didn't fail? Thanks
