  1. Try the "Improving Windows 98 / safe mode" thread in the member projects section.
  2. NIC Errors have nothing to do with my Patches. Why are you still using both RAM Patches. That was for bug verification only. You already have a NIC in the AMD970. Adding another one may be causing problems. I never promised my Patch would support two NICs. I knew it would work with the AMD970's Internal NIC. You already said it booted when I sold it to you. The fact that SPLIT8MB is needed suggests that an yet unknown limitation may be near.
  3. You still have an AHCI Controller present.
  4. Because XHDD is a Disk utility, it might be the cause of the VFAT crash. Normally a VFAT crash is a sign of DMA Memory starvation due usually to Gigabit Ethernet Drivers or oversize Registries. My RAM Limitation Patch /M option fixes this. My Demo can be used to verify this.
  5. This may not be possible with some of the newest Motherboards.
  6. That using a DOS shell in Safe Mode can cause video corruption.
  7. Microsoft has been warning about this for decades. I have never seen this happen with the default SYSTEM.CB. You can try installing the SVGA or XGA Safe Mode files and Patches. Maybe one of them will work.
  8. DISKBIOS/AHCIBIOS does not support CD Drives. You should not Install CD Drivers in DOS.
  9. You won't see the Hard Disk Controller without using the SATA Patch and the ATA0106.INF File. There are no USB 1 Controllers, so you will not see any USB Devices until you add the USB 2 Drivers. Older systems had shared USB 1 and USB 2 Ports, newer ones don't. Did it say "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" or "Standard VGA Display Adapter" or both? How many Bridges do you see?
  10. I only see one PCI/PCI-E Hard Disk Controller in your list. I see no IDE Mode Controllers anywhere. The USB 2 Controllers will not be recognized by standard Windows 9x, you need to add the USB 2 Drivers first. The Video Card would show up as standard VGA. The Bridges should be visible as is. If the Bridges are appearing with errors. let us know what the Error is.
  11. Safe Mode does not use the 82.69 Driver so there is nothing to fix. SYSTEM.CB can be modified to provide SVGA or XGA Graphics in Safe Mode. Some Video Cards will crash if you open COMMAND.COM.
  12. Many PCI-E SATA Cards are available.
  13. Not quite "raw". That would include the Sector Headers and ECC for a total of 2352 Bytes per Sector.
  14. These are all standard PCI objects. They should all be detected by PCI Bus. Your Hard Drive Controller is set to AHCI. I see two USB2 Controllers, a Video Card, and 7 Bridges that should be recognized. There are a lot of items that will be reported as Unknown.
  15. VBE does not work with COMMAND.COM. Safe Mode does not use Installed Drivers so neither VBE nor 82.69 are a factor. It can use limited Drivers specified in SYSTEM.CB. This allows SVGA and XGA, but not on all Video Cards. Use the original SYSTEM.CB File for Safe Mode.
  16. Windows 95 RTM cannot handle CPU speeds higher than 350MHz. The FIX95CPU Patches, linked by ppgrainbow above, will fix this as well.
  17. There is no 3.5GiB hard limit. 32-Bit RAM is limited to less than 4GiB due to MMIO space reserved at the top of RAM. I have a Motherboard that allows up to 3776MiB. I have remapped RAM and gotten 98SE to run with 4094MiB. Most Motherboards and Video Card combinations set the limit between 2.5GiB and 3.5GiB. Maximum RAM plus Swap is limited to 4GiB, unless RAM is less than 2GiB, as the Swap File is limited to 2GiB. This assumes the Swap is not on a 32-Bit RAMDisk.
  18. I have no DDR4 systems. I would think that if there are problems with DOS, you would not be able to run any non-UEFI OS either. What about the 9x Installation CD? Did you verify that it is not damaged.
  19. A "sector not found" error suggests an error on your Installation media. Either a bad Sector or corrupted FileSystem data. I see duplication of at least some the Bridges, some working and some not. Delete everything that has the Yellow Mark on them and see if they are redetected. I saw a couple of Laptops, during my search, that fragmented the available RAM. This may the reason your System only reported 157MiB. Many years ago, I ran some experiments with 98SE which included creating gaps in RAM. It often crashed and even corrupted my Hard Drive sometimes.
  20. I don't know of anything either. I think he also wants to make decisions in his code based on Registry Values.
  21. I was assuming 512MB Video Cards that don't need my nVidia Patch such as the 7200. 8GiB, 16GiB, 32GiB etc. are the same as 4GiB as far as Windows 9x is concerned.
  22. There are several ways to run 9x without Patches. They all require that 9x think there is no more than about 768MB. I have a Floppy Disk that can change the apparent amount of RAM to any amount I choose. I also have a DOS Driver that does the same thing. Place your order today. You can use HIMEMX and allocate an unused RAMDisk to eat up the extra memory. You can set the NUMHANDLES argument to HIMEM low enough to starve Windows of RAM. Install six 512MB Video Cards. If you use the Performance Settings Menu, you can get the same results as Patching SYSTEM.INI. The System RAM and Video Card RAM are two separate issues. They are not related for purposes of this discussion.
