  1. If you want your disk to be fully scanned at next reboot, open a console Start> Run> type "Cmd" > OK write there CHKDSK X: /F (where X: is the drive, and /F option to force checking of the disk). You will be prompted if you want to do the check the next time your station restart. Type in 'y' and press enter. then exit the console and restart your box.
  2. Question stupide ... y a-t-il quelque chose à ce sujet dans la KB de Microsoft ?
  3. If you want a good way to improve your privacy i might recommend you HistoryKill 2003. It's a shareware, and it proved out to clean out all possible tracks from IE. It would help you to save time doing the clean-up operations in IE (and note that IE is keeping tracks in several folders/files)
  4. I would still opt for the virus problem. We thought no virus was around, until we discovered one on one of the oldest boxes of the company. My best wishes to fix this problem. Could be a spam as well, but previous 'repeated' experience tells me rather of a virus/massmailer. Regards, Max
  5. i think that it depends mainly on specific video drivers, at home Win2K3 is slower than XP Home Ed. with same (optimized/updated) drivers, directx 9.0b and so on.. but it is far more stable with applications such as photoshop 7 and other resource consuming stuff
  6. I see it only at boot time. I upgraded from Win2000 Server, have themes set up and wallpaper. No tweaking done.
  7. I run Win2K3 Enterprise edition on my network, on one of our three servers, and it runs pretty smoothly. I had no problems when upgrading from Win2K SP4.EN, though i'm skeptical about using any WIN2K3 version as workstation/gaming platform
  8. Hello, I was just wondering who is really evaluating Windows 2003 Server at work, as a server operating system. Thanks for feedback and comments. ^_^
  9. open REGEDIT.EXE go on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion then check successively all keys starting with Run : Run RunOnce [...] until you find the **** key containing 'script.exe' Delete it, and restart your computer. BEWARE!! Wrong manipulations in REGEDIT might render your PC unaccessible.
  10. Try out if you have any viruses around on ANY of the corporation computers. This happened to us once, the virus was spoofing mails using my own address (as system administrator) and i had no virus on my server, it was on an old Win95 machine without antivirus. The virus was using data from the colleague's address book and sending itself to several people. Try accessing to mail headers and see what gets out of there. There should be the real path from where the mails were sent and all..
  11. Please note that this feature was probably made to avoid risk of vbs-script viruses and/or malformed HTML headers.
  12. It doesn't appears there because this is a Server operating system. It's like, you don't expect to get an MP3 Autoradio with 6-CD charger in a battle tank, or suspensions in a boat. That would be pointless.
  13. Ah folks, nothing better than a good'ole NT4. What a pity it doesn't supports recent technologies, i remember how fast it was running on my PIII-500 with 128 Ram. We still use it at work, a very heavily modified version for french official institutions. Though it's **** slow.
  14. Hey remember this is not a final version and also, with all the tweaking done to turn it into a workstation-like OS, it's still a server operating system, and i would not use it to run or test 3D games. Drivers can also interfere with this, as they are not *specifically* designed for this system.
  15. Hello i'm going to try out running Win2K3 with Win2K at work, on my personal server. It runs perfectly at home, coupled with Windows XP Home Ed. French version.
