Unable to slipstream KB941649
ajua replied to Joe User 99's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
Yes, it integrates it but the update is not applied when you install windows. have you checked that out? i wasn't able to install it using pkgmgr or vlite. -
im doing tests but im not sure as i haven't use this phase yet but i want to to try some regtweaks and driver setups. the question is i don't want the administrator account to be enabled. if i put other user info here in Audit what will happen? that user account will be created so i don't need to create one later in OOBE? thanks.
-
im not sure right now but i think i recall mounting install.wim and see the drivers were integrated but i don't know why they aren't being installed.
-
the easiest way is to integrate the whole vista folder into vLite.
-
i installed them that way too because even using pkgmgr to integrate them into install.wim didn't work. im assuming it is because WHQL but the strange thing (test up to 1.80) is that when doing manual or silent isntall, vista does not complain about WHQL on this drivers.
-
ow, that will come handy for my program. many thanks.
-
thanks, i already got them.
-
deleting images doesn't lead to error in cataloging using WSIM? i removed some images with vLite and had problems with WSIM saving files.
-
i searched there but before Windows Update began to download them lol now i have them. thanks.
-
thanks for the information. i will try that later this week and post my results.

glad to know that updates can be integrated at any time. about updates and drivers option, maybe sp00f is right, many updates can account for large media sizes. about this topic. anyone knows where to get spanish cabs for dreamscene and its content pakcs? i integrated the three that are here but they are in english and windows keep downloading and installing the main dreamscene release and it always shows in windows update...thanks.

i have tried both 360 and 2007. 360 is really a well-suited program for those that are not "power users" or called it whatever you want. It is great and it doesn't bog down the system, but the footprint is a little high (cant remember the amount right now). I recommend it to the average user. About Antivirus 2007, i really dislike because it is slow at scanning things around, and as geek poasted here, it injects itself into many things that i don't want it to. If you ever have a problem with it (itself or compatibilities with some apps) you will be in trouble because of the poor uninstaller they use and it thinks that even you dont have it anymore installed it will keep LiveUpdate installed and running. You need to download an Uninstaller Tool to get the whole program removed properly. It does very well in scanning rating. For light (as an antivirus can be) on resources and easy to fix/repair/uninstall i recommend Kaspersky. The latest version 3.x of NOD32 are good though. avast! Pro is good but i don't like the interface and the way it manages by default a feature to repair files damaged by infections.

hopefully MS can come up with something like $WinPEDrivers$ for hotfixes and updates. just put the MSU files in folders and they will be installed automatically during setup. i haven't read if WinPEDrivers will work for non-critical boot drivers (like Wifi, Audio, Display, Scanner, etc.). I just hope it will.
-
have you tried to keep integrating hotfixes in already integrated images? can i use this method for everyday and customers installation safely? thanks.
-
but after you use FirstLogonCommands to run the script that contains the RunOnceEx entries do they run in that moment or you have to restart the computer after you just logged in in order to RunOnceEx to kick in? im asking because if the user is already logged for the FirstLogonCommands to work, i think i need to restart the computer so those entries can run. am i right? wrong? thanks for the feedback.

i just made 4 installations doing the updates and the language pack manually and all worked fine with WSIM. So im thinking that the problem may reside somewhere between vLite image actions and/or WSIM way of cataloging .wim images that have other versions stripped off. anyway, im doing the manual way until i figure this out because i really want to use WSIM to improve my XML files...
-
read about superfetch and memory caching. if you only run audio apps on that machine, you will benefit from superfectch so i dont recommend you to disable it.
-
lol didn't think that it works. in which pass or setup phase do you add RunOnceEx commands? the commands are exactly as in XP with description and entries for everyfile? thanks in advance.
-
i read that is recommended to start from scratch but i haven't tried to integrate hotfixes to an already updated image yet. about drivers i think if a new version comes out and you integrate it both versions will be in the image and windows will choose the latest version but i can't be 100% sure about this. try it and see how it goes.
-
i did that, made one autounattend.xml with WSIM and original untouched image to add settings then created one vLite source and one autounattend.xml with it. then i added settings from the first xml file to the one created by vLite but my real-world install failed at what i think would be the specialize pass. im going to integrate hotfixes and spanish language pack manually and then i will try to use WSIM to create autounattend.
-
which are the components in Nero 8 Lite so i an skip installation of wave editor? thanks.
-
I set the image name to Windows Vista ULTIMATE and it didn't work, the same error. I also tried making a new xml file, added settings without any luck. basically im stuck at using vLite xml and without adding nothing more except InstallFrom Image Name for it to not display the version window at WinPE.
-
MS just updated windows update components again... i just received the update. will look for the cab later.
-
thanks fr the reply. disabling UAC in setupcomplete need a further reboot, so few programs didnt installed properly. i will install programs on firstlogon and disable UAC in specialize. is there a way i can have the programs displayed in the window that says "customizing X component" that appears if you use firstlogoncommands?

midi2k6: i said that windows didnt install any driver that i have integrated with vLite. using Pkgmgr method to integrate them works except realtek. i have the vista inf files integrated for realtek but dont work. will try with an earlier version.
