i think MS is doing that with those updates to make a statement to those vendors which failed miserably to provide vista drivers in a timely fashion and the pressure of the customers on them instead of vista itself.

we all probably need more time off...lol

tha main goal of vista's performance index is to provide casual users with a score so they can understand how well (this is very subjective to me) that particular computer is performing. also it was designed to provide application setups and/or programs an easy way to check for hardware requirements. but the editing of an xml file renders this feature useless. here's my score to comply with this thread: 5.7 5.5 5.9 5.9 5.4

did you used that same hard drive before? if not and the drive is new or untested before in your laptop maybe it can't draw enough power to run properly. i have run into this kind of issue before. if you have used that drive before maybe vista messed up with drivers. try using Nirsoft USBDeview (nirsoft.com) and uninstall any usb device that you have connected and try again.

which version is it? i haven't try it.

lol i didn't noticed i wrote nlite... i meant vLite indeed.

this is the first time i hear about this... have you checked microsoft site for answers? are you using standard windows installation? maybe you are susing nlite to remove components or something like that.

i tried you new version 7.6 (english setup) and it launches iTunesHelper.exe and iPodService.exe (maybe the helper does this). If i disable those for startup, will any of my clients have problems using itunes and their devices? thanks.

one question shark. The previous version you released (7.5) according to you had disabled the ituneshelper.exe process. I tried last week the multilanguage release and to my surprise the process was there along with th ipod service? maybe it is only the multilanguage of 7.5. nevertheless, i just got the new versions and will try them later this weekend. thanks.

i always install cumulatives (IE, Media Center and WinMail) in a cmd file. kb942624 and kb942763 seems to install fine with me. i use pkgmgr: start /w pkgmgr /o:"D:\VistaUA\Mount\;D:\VistaUA\Mount\Windows" /n:"D:\VistaUA\integrate.xml"

I've been trying to get the msi installer so i put my own modified files on it but the original installer doesn't seem to extract it anywhere. I have tried it on Vista and XP. Maybe someone already got it and don't mind sharing it. I finished uploading the MSI installer to my skydrive account. Here is the link for those who want to download it: Live Messenger Spanish MSI

the dll registering problem only occurs to me when doing unattended vista install using FirstLogonComands and/or Setupcomplete.cmd. If i manually run the installer with the silent switches when in windows already, everything works fine. I tried to not install C++ 2005 Redist and also tried with it being installed.

I can send you the recode add on I made, it does not alter your SDK files, just adds new ones. If you could take a look and validate it (since it's based on your work) that'd be great do you mind uploading it to some place so we can try it? thanks.

using shark007's switch installer and that setting is turn off by default. when you start it for the first time, you come across a wizard which asks you about 3 or 4 things, including the option to copy all file to the itunes folder.

im using vista x86 spanish and i couldn't find the msi installer. anyone that is willing to share the spanish msi? thanks.

i didn't install VC++2005 with other program before. i have UAC off and ran the nero setup in silent mode.
