  2. You just have to input the 3 digit Code in the upper right corner. Or is it an other problem? My problem with Megaupload is that I constantly receive the following message: Petr
  3. Yes, nice to wait another 70 minutes for each part of the zip archive... For anybody who wants to test this and with no paid access to Rapidshare I have put these files on our web server temporarily - the uplink speed is 4 Mbit/s only but better this than nothing I believe. Here is the link: http://www.ryston.com/tmp/ I will be deleted in case of excessive traffic. BTW, I was told that Universal Share Downloader works very well for unattended downloading from Rapidshare (and other shares) but I have not tested it. Petr.
  4. This was the most important information! OK, so I have installed http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details...;displaylang=en + the update and really - the pictures in this .chm file are not displyed now and the error message appears. All other .chm files are still displayed correctly. So it is not clear whether the problem is in the Msseclnt.chm file itself or in something that was changed by MDAC 2.8 SP1. It will not be so easy to find what change has caused this new behavior: 92 files added 92 files modified 1637 registry entries added 49 registry entries deleted 428 registry entries modified ..... 5. So I have prepared clean full Windows 98SE install + IE6.0SP1 full install + I have installed the the a.m. packages, it was necessary to uninstall Internet Connection Sharing before to install the msl2tp.exe package. Then I went to Start menu -> Programs -> Microsoft IPSec VPN -> Microsoft IPSec VPN Help and it displayed correctly. Then I entered the a.m. URL (starting with mk: ) to IE and again the page displayed correctly. What other test should fail? I dont't know what Unofficial patches you have installed? Maybe there is the problem? Petr
  6. I never had any problem with iexpress from ieak6 sp1. I think erpdude8 already mentioned that the date problem is just with makecab that comes with Windows XP. VersionInfo=VersionSection belongs to main section, strings section you already have, and version section I'd put before the string section. Petr
  7. What means "all updates"? So you mean: 1. Clean Windows 98 SE install, default (or what?) components 2. All updates from Windows Update (IE6 yes or no?) 3. Install http://download.microsoft.com/download/win...us/dun14-se.exe 4. Install http://download.microsoft.com/download/win...N-US/msl2tp.exe or anything more? Petr
  8. Maybe it would be nice to add the information to the final iexpress package using the following directives in the SED file - it is much easier to check what the file contains: VersionInfo=VersionSection [VersionSection] CompanyName=%CompanyName% FileDescription=%FileDescription% FileVersion=%FileVersion% InternalName=%InternalName% LegalCopyright=%LegalCopyright% OriginalFilename=%OriginalFilename% ProductName=%ProductName% ProductVersion=%ProductVersion% [Strings] CompanyName=MSFN FileDescription=Test File FileVersion=1.2.3.4 InternalName=TEST2 LegalCopyright=(c)2005 Petr OriginalFilename=TEST2.EXE ProductName=SED TEST Suite ProductVersion=1.0.0.0 In this post I have also decribed how to either not allow to continue the installation or issue waring only if some system or executable files are missing or wrong version, maybe you could find it useful (for subpackages?). Petr
  9. I think because the folders are differet: SPUPDATE.INF: Ser1 = 28740,WEBSER~1 Ser2 = 28740,WEBSER~1\1033 Freshly installed system: "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\FP4AUTL.DLL" "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\FP4AWEC.DLL" "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\1033\FPEXT.MSG" There is a difference - additional 40\BIN\ in the path. I don't understand. I see the following dates using 7-zip and all other unpackagers: 7-Zip 4.32 Copyright (c) 1999-2005 Igor Pavlov 2005-12-09 Listing archive: mesp202en-b4.exe Date Time Attr Size Compressed Name I think the problem is in using Windows XP and not Windows 98/Me for the packaging, it is no reason to use bigger XP version of WEXTRACT.EXE 6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158). Petr
  10. Is it posible to describe how to reproduce the bugs, step-by-step? Petr

Quick looks at qfecheck reveals the fact that KB918547 update is not installed because of the typo in the SPUPDATE.INF [KN918547] Is there any reason why ATL Modules are installed only when they are present, but all other always? ; --- vcredist atl.dll,,,1028 atl70.dll,,,1028 atl71.dll,,,1028 atl80.dll,,,1028 mfc42.dll,,,4 mfc70.dll,,,4 mfc71.dll,,,4 mfc80.dll,,,4 mfc80enu.dll,,,4 mfc80m.dll,,,4 msvcm80.dll,,,4 msvcp50.dll,,,4 msvcp60.dll,,,4 msvcp70.dll,,,4 msvcp71.dll,,,4 msvcp80.dll,,,4 msvcr70.dll,,,4 msvcr71.dll,,,4 msvcr80.dll,,,4 msvcrt.dll,,,4 Files "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\FP4AUTL.DLL" "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\FP4AWEC.DLL" "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\BIN\1033\FPEXT.MSG" are not updated nor checked by qfechcek. Petr OK. I almost forgot it, I've bought TC in 1997... Petr I have uploaded the one I have : http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1152725516/msvci70.dll I'd strongly recommend AGAINST including of any files with unknown or uncertain origin. All Microsoft files should be able to download as part of some package direcly from Microsoft. Otherwise you know nothing about such files - it may be just hexed or reshacked, some special build with some standard features missing - and who is able to test ALL functions in ALL libraries for correct function? Petr
  12. IMHO much easier attribute handling is offered by Total Commader. My recommendation would be just to extract the files from the original packages, e.g. using Total Commander. It is very quick and convenient. I suppose the_guy has all the original packages, then I'd just marked all these files, pressed Alt-F9, checked to overwrite old files - and I'd have all the latest files in one filder. Then I'd remove all .INF and .CAT files and then using the function "Synchronize Dirs" function (VERY useful function) with "by content" and "ignore content" functions I'd test if all files are present and identical byte-by-byte. As a bonus I'd be sure that all files are really coming from the declared source and that they are not damaged. This is V2 of beta4 already. V1 of beta4 was released on May 6th.Petr Strange. So let say gdi.exe file - in SP2.CAB is dated 01-01-2006, but in the original 289635USAM.EXE the file date is 22-02-2001. The same situation is with all files, the oldest files in SP2.CAB are dated 16-11-2005 and there are 30 files with this date and with time from 20:47 to 20:50. 70 files have date 01-01-2006. What do you see on your side? Petr
  13. Almost all of them - if not all. Petr
  14. Good joke! But if you repeat the same joke too often it is not soo good.
  15. There is some confusion with mfc80m.dll and mfcm80.dll: mfc80m.dll is referenced in qfe.inf and spupdate.inf mfcm80.dll is referenced in mfc80.dll and mfcm80.dll There is only mfcm80.dll included in SUPP.CAB but in SPUPDATE.INF is mfc80m.dll only therefore the install fail. Commands start /w %11%\msiexec.exe flash.msi /qn start /w %11%\msiexec.exe sw_full.msi /qnresults in "Incorrect command line parameters" error message. And what I told you before - it is not very convenient that you don't keep the original file date/time in your service packs. Petr
  16. Petr BTW, beta4 was released in this post on May 6th : http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=503023 Petr
  17. Nice, but why it is named mesp202en-b4.exe again, the same as the beta released 2 months ago? I see it a bit confusing. Petr
  18. Quick Google search shows nothing, so there is very low probability that it is something known. I have one idea - the binary reprsentation of these characters are very similar: 2 = 32 in hex = 0011 0010 in binary. r = 72 in hex = 0111 0010 in binary So just one bit difference. I'd guess on some hardware problem, either with disk (or cable) or with memory. Petr
  19. <meta content="Me and Mozilla" name="GENERATOR"> Petr
  20. There are two files that should be used in the graphic filters package: png32.flt 2003.1100.8029 gifimp32.flt 2003.1100.8020 All packages contain the same files: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/f...ullfile-enu.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/c...ullFile-ENU.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/b...ullFile-ENU.exe Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 95; Windows 98; Windows ME; Windows NT; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Petr
  21. The last patch Tuesday for Windows 98 / 98SE / Me is here - an there are no patches for these operating systems: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-jul.mspx Or missed I anything? Petr
  22. This results in very very long installation time and this is what I want to avoid. I just don't know why the CRL is checked for every package on Windows Me but not on Windows 98, is this some setting in Windows Me? Petr
  23. I had the same problems with Resource Hacker on Windows 98 SE. Now I'm using Restorator 2006 for PE files and eXeScope for NE files (but they are not free) Petr
  24. Hello, I have noticed that Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 installer contacts the Internet during the installation, and if no Internet connection is available, it takes very long time before these queries will time out. More details: The IE installer is checking the digital signature of all components installed. On Windows Me it tries to load Certificate Revocation List from http://crl.microsoft.com/pki/crl/products/CodeSignPCA.crl . Surprisingly it does not try to load the CRL on Windows 98. And now the question - how to avoid this behavior? Petr
  25. Thank you, the bug works now, I don't know what I did wrong, maybe new line at the end of the line. And as I mentioned earlier, the problem is not with the saving of the file, it is saved as ANSI as I'd expect because there are no special characters, but Notpad has problem with opening of the file - it incorrectly thinks that it is Unicode file.
