  1. check to see if your camera is supported by server 2003
  2. I have loaded a wim of XP sp2 and it loads fine, the issue i am finding trying to get from the PE boot to the actual image install, the WDS instructions refer to a WDS client that is suppose to run with the PE, but i have found no evidence of the client, i would expect it is added at the time you add your boot pe to the WDS server.
  3. WAIK toolkit downloaded from connect
  4. Not sure which forum was the best for this but this one seems to sound good, just install WDS and got it working sorta, anyone else test and installed this yet? i am confused on how to create a PE that will work with WDS. have gotten the pwe booting working correctly and can boot into a PE but at that point i am lost. thanks in advance
  5. anyone testing the WAIK and can mount an image and edit the content or even just get into the folder? tried to install on vista with no success, can use all other features of ximage, i would expect that i am just doing somehting wrong or there would have been more talk of this not working
  6. That would be diskpart, the NT file system has 5 versions up to date, i am not sure what version Vista uses but i would expect to be different then the one that XP and 2003 uses (3.1 / 5.1) more info on NTFS NTFS
  7. WDS can have 3 stages, legacy - Basically just a RIS server, using RIS setup and RIS prep Mixed - RIS and WIM images boo Native - WIM images only using WinPE 2.0 to boot i have a native WDS server setup, working pretty nicely atm, still a little buggy but i like it, creating a new WIM image for our standard image today and will test to see how it does, was getting errors trying to autocreate computer accounts, but prestaging the accounts works fine. i'll post more as i work on it today
  8. some of the cursors have changed, they look sharpen, i would expect by release they will have all changed, or at least be updated
  9. the welcome box that you are reffering to can only be populated with text, no image files but it would be cool if it could
  10. just more info, this happens on all wims that i created or that came with the WAIK, filter has been installed successfully. is anyone else seeing this also? have had another person come up with the same error. wondering is anyone else is seeing this too
  11. without having a domain controller at each site, there isn' t much way to organize each office into a site, now your site 1 and site 2 and main office can be setup, you could configure the sites to go to the closest DC by setting up the ip ranges with the closest site after you create them in sites and services.
  12. has anyone else seen this issue, trying to mount a WIM i created and it mounting correctly but giving an error that the resource is no longer available when you try to open the folder?
  13. awesome job, do you have a list of directions for others that have the Nforce chipset? many people have been trying to get that one to work
  14. dsquery user -disabled | dsmove user -newparent "ou=disabled group,dc=etc,dc=etc,dc=etc" memnoch is right you just didn't tell it what you wanted to move but to pipe in the query, just use the user option
  15. 95 meg is the best i was able to get the size down to. not sure if you can go smaller then that
  16. deamon 4.0 opens that vista ISO 5308 perfectly fine, no issues there, i believe other have used alcohol on the ISO also and it has worked fine in previous builds, both should work fine. what kind of errors are you getting when you try to mount the DVD?
  17. repairing the widows install is a long way of doing it, and possibly a bad thing if the install doesn't go through well,
  18. yup agreed the more tips the better , i want to know this version of windows inside and out before it even goes rtm!!
  19. you are right GSM, not in the beta but do have access to the builds through our MSDN account at work, what i was stating in my post is that it won't ever prompt him that his PC is below the recommended setting. It would just not load. Again you are also right on the graphics, running in the VM never allow you to use the full AERO feature set, but i again recommended it to ford-p over having try and dual boot his main machine. Most people aren't willing to do that yet. the WINPE does take 256 meg minimum to load itself, and he does have the 256 min, doesn't state weither his video is onboard or not so we don't know for sure, with this old of a machine you probably would expect it to be onboard though. also a note i did get vista to boot to the setup screen in the windows PE, 750 mhz with 256 with 8 meg onboard, getting memory reference errors, so it was defiantly out of space at that point. woud try a video card but it is a laptop so no good
  20. it won't say anything about a minimun speed required, it just won't run, MS doesn't check to see what speed your computer is. i would go with it was a bad burn to the DVD, i would say run it on your main machine in a VM (virtual Machine) even if you could get it running on that old machine it would be terrible.
  21. setting up RRAS to forward the internet connection to your 2 segments, have it be connected to the router itself so that it gets the 192186.1.x ip and then have another NIC that will connect to the network that will router the connection to your 2 segments.
  22. "winload.exe" is an error you will get when the Winpe is trying to kick off the ISO did not get burned to the media correctly or the ISO has been messed with.
  23. i agree with gunsmokingman, as much as groups say they haven't touched the ISO, you never know who has gotten to it and messed with it before seeding.
  24. bootsect.exe can be found on the CD media or ISO that vista came on, use this to change back to the XP bootloader <cdrive:\boot> bootsect /nt52 C: this will reapply the boot code for NTLoader back to the c: volume
  25. you can go into your boot.ini and take out the entry out of there so that xp boots first
