  1. is there onboard video on this motherboard? that will eat up some of your ram, what kind of motherboard it is?
  2. keeping image size to a mininmum is always nice, but i like have all my features and roles on the box, saves me the hassle of trying to figure out which server in the 48 racks we have has the server that Needs the windows 2003 cd so i can add a new feature
  3. in teh 64 RTM for the the checks cannot be turned off, the keys you were using only worked in pre RTM releases
  4. The LDF file is the transaction log for your SQL Database, each DB on the SQL server will have an LDF file for the transaction logs of the DB, it sounds like you need to get who ever installed your DB setup back in for some training. or atleast documentation on the what they installed, how it was configured, and what maintence/upkeep needs to be done to the boxs
  5. it will prompt you for a computer name, but not during installtion, it will wait for the windows welcome section, then you can enter a computer name. What happens now when you run with the xml file you are using?
  6. as far as i kmow, you still need to use teh Peimg to intergrate Updates into Server2008, the documentation in the 2008 WAIK has not changed on that
  7. your best bet is to just let windows update pull the updates down, it would save you alot of hassle
  8. the reason it is so big is that all the binaries for the roles and services are installed on the machine, just not enabled or configured until you do it yourself. makes for a slightly larger install but is worth it in the long run when you have to find out how to get a CD into a server out in costa rica
  9. I have been running 3 server as 2008 since Beta 3, all 3 have preformed better then expected. 2 set in a Clustered Fileshare and a server running WDS. all 3 ran as smooth as any of our other boxes in the data center. i have been very happy with the preformance so far and look forward to upgrading them to RTM
  10. I will actually be preforming this same excersise tonight, with 2 x 500 gig and 2 x 120 gig drives i will post my results when it is done Mobo, Abit - ab9 pro latest BIOS update
  11. So the version of hyper-v that is in RTM now is a watered down version?? or just a beta?
  12. The final build is slated for x64 only. How will this compare to the Full virtualization additions that are suppose to be released later this year? or am i thinking og hyper-v?
  13. remeber the virtulization software is still in beta, that part will be released later this year, it runs great now, but can't wait to see how it does in full rtm! there are a ton of new features to play withif you want a way to get 2008 into the environment fast, leverage NAP (network Access protection) from a high end view to it is system that allows you to monitor on computers connecting to you network and verify that they meet criteria set by you for security (AV up to date, firewall on, etc etc) if they don't have these things, then they are quarentined until they are brought into good health standings. it is an amazingly easy feature to setup and works great!
  14. you can use the image with windows Deployment 4 or build your own image from within it as well.
  15. a virtual environment would be your best bet, if need be, you can make rebuild the server on virtual server 2005 (or vmware server) and if you don't own the vmware convert, you can just rebuild the servers from your backups. just make sure the virtual network is seperated from the actual one
  16. atm there isn't a way to add links to the server manager, i would bet once the SDK for 2008 comes out there might be a bit in there about adding items to servermanager.
  17. check to see if there are any firmware updates for that DVD player
  18. any errors listed in the Event viewer?
  19. is this somethine new on the PC? was this a fresh install of Vista? (vlite?) was a software reinstalled or just recently installed? anymore information you can give to when and how this started happening would help us help you!

Type these commands and press Enter: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled 3. Please reboot Vista and check if it is working now. Try your RDP from your XP machine again after having done these steps on the vista machine
  22. you can configure home server to send you alerts on different Preformance aspects, check out the home server forums over at MS, they have a ton of good info, also check for gadgets and such. New ones are coming out all the time. you probably already know but just in case there is a web interface you can connect to to use home server with (not sure since i haven't played with it enough to point you in the right direction of it )
  23. cd-keys will no longer be able to activate more then a few times unless it is a MAC key (in which case you are getting X number of activations with that key)
  24. i would venture to say most Vlite installs are not going to work with SP1...
