  2. you are better off downloading the WAIK and building and unattended Vista installation your will not be able to get Vista down to 1 CD for an image, the size is to big to make this possible
  3. I am trying to install Vista 32bit SP1 beta. VSS stands for Volume ShadowCopy Service, it is saying something on your E drive is supported for the backup method it is trying (my thought on that part) and is not allowing the SP to install. Is there an install error log someplace?
  4. if possible look into Updating the boxes to 2003 R2, And use the New DFS Replication. http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_...eplication.html
  5. objUser.SetName "newname" not sure if that function is available or not
  6. what kind of WAN link do you have between the 2 offices?
  7. you will have to use bcedit to fix teh boot loader and remove the entry for the XP instance
  8. try this Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Command Prompt. 2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled This command disables the Receive Window Auto-Tuning feature. 3. Try to make a non-HTTP network connection. To turn back on 4. At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal This command enables Receive Window Auto-Tuning again so that you can take advantage of the increase in network throughput performance that this option provides the devices you connect to need to support this feature or you will notice a preformance hit. the tcpip.sys won't help you much in this situation. the ISATAP connections are for translation in IPV4 to IPV6 they won't be active unless you go into the netsh command and enable them.
  9. i would vote for about 80% of the time is a driver issue but that i just me http://www.msfn.org/board/Creating_memory_dumps_t90244.html follow the instructions in the post here to create a full memory dump of the blue screen, from that we can find out what the actual cause was
  10. the network stack for vista was rewritten and preforms better becuase of this, i not sure if MS will take the time to do this for XP since it is almost end of life.
  11. try this "Error 1719: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed" error message when you try to add or remove a program follow the directions in the article and see if they help
  12. there really isn't anything that can be done by anyone other then apple, the app needs to be rewritten to take advantage of the Aero engine and .Net framework 3.0
  13. http://www.zoom.com/techsupport/adsl/adsl_x6.shtml make sur eyou have the latest version of the firmware for your model, also it looks like those modems (depending on the model) are from late 2003, not sure how compatible they are going to be for you
  14. Welcome to the forums! hopefully we can get this working again, first things first. What kind of machine/wireless card and router are your tring to connect to? you say wireless modem but is it truly a modem or actually a router (name and model would help) if the router is older there is a good chance you will have to update the firmware on it before you will be able to use it with wireless in vista. any other detials you could provide on the machine and the hardware involved would great help us help you
  15. it isn't a glitch in windows, it is a maximum addressable space that a 32bit OS can handle, there isn't a problem it is just a limitation, 64 bit will be what you need if you want to utilize the full 4 gig of ram
  16. Eventually! We may see even more in the future 128bit, 256bit like when i retire or something. But not today. I should make a poll asking how much 64 bit software people are using right now. I know i'm not. All my software that i purchased online and at the store are all 32bit and i spent more on those than games. Can you tell me where i can purchase 64 bit Adobe Photoshop please? I have not seen a single game out that are true 64 bit. Like i say, the 64 bit thing is still at an early stage. Maybe in 10 years, 32bit will probably be obselete. But not today. Until Vendors see a market for 64-bit software no one will be willing to drop teh money it will take to create a 64-bit version of software (especially when most 32 bit version can run on 64bit windows now) till there is a general demand for 64-bit software you won't see vendors making it, 64-bit adoption will be exceeding slow as most people won't ever know the difference between 32-bt and 64.
  17. Intra-site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol Deployment Guide IPV6 is installed by default for Vista, you won't have to isntall it, ISATAP support as well is installed by default, from the command line (with admin privleges) use this to make sure that they V6 is looking at the the correct address netsh interface ipv6 isatap set router 202.115.22.x (i am assuming this is your ISATAP router) once that runs correctly you should verify with your network admin it is working properly
  18. the event viewer would be the right place to check for errors, there may not be any errors listed there. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314590/en-gb pertains to the registry issue you are having with the product, the proccess for a vlean boot on XP should be prett similar to the Vista boot. steps for a clean boot can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353/EN-US/ let me know if that helps
  19. where there any errors in the error logs regarding this not opening properly? could you get us the exact verbage of the error message that you are getting? (screenshot?)
  20. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/technetma...CL/default.aspx read this, give a basic understand of how permissioning has changed on vista compared to XP
  21. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/technetma...CL/default.aspx here is a very good article about what has changed in vista's permissions scheme, take a read and see if this is what you are seeing
  22. you will probably have to wait some time before a tool is released that has that functionality. Nothing i know of is out that will do that yet, have you tried erd commander and that does not work?
  23. Have you applied SP1 to the Vista machines prior to joining them? what mode is Domain Services running in for the 2008 DC (2003? 2008?) SP1 shouldn't matter but it might help, though i guess not everyone has access to it yet
  24. what version of Exchange is your Company running? (sounds like 2003 but just to check) Outlook 2007 should be just as easy as running through the wizard at the beginning that sucks in your account information and configured the settings from your AD account settings
  25. the min score is usually the same, the times will change based on what the content of the Exam is. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/default.mspx check out here, you can see all the test and how long you get for them
