Im assuming all you have is a WIndows Me cd..so ill start from step #1 1. Make a Boot disk. This can be done on any computer with 98 or Me loaded, so from your computer goto Control Panels>Add Remove hardware, then goto the farthest tab "Startup disk" Pop in a 3 1/2 floppy and create the disk. 2. Incert the disk into the messed computer, and restart, in the boot process the computer will read the disk and you will get some options choose to run with cd rom support. 3. Once its finished you will be in DOS command prompt Type (without the qoutes) "format C:" it will ask you if your sure press"Y" and it will erace the entire disk. After it has completed it will ask you for a Volume label...this is just the name of the HArdDrive...if it needs no name(fully optional) then just press enter and you will be right back in Command line. 4. Restart your computer once more with the DIsk in the floopy drive and once again choose start computer with Cd Rom support, when its loding it will tell you what drive it makes your cd Rom...for the sake of instruction lets just say it picks D: 5:Type"D:" (or whatever your Cd rom is labeled) Then type "Setup" This will run the windows Setup and from there its preety much automated...it will ask you the name of the computer etc etc all very easy stuff Just follow the directions and you should be fine Goodluck =Drew

I hear ya promal...i like to new look and the new features, such as u dont need to foward ports if u have a router....but it seems more buggy..ill be talking to someone for a while then i wont here from them..and all of a sudden it says that my past like 10 messages weret recived....or people will just think im offline..... very strange..... Realisitically ulitizing 100 percent of your cpu is not harmful..yes over time it can lower the amount of time that the cpu can last..but even with extencive use of these decritping clients, the signifigance of time is a moot point due to the fact that you will upgrade by the time you see evidence of its shroter longevity.... =Drew

ummmm..be4 you post not sooo bright comments, u might wanna read the thread or the links pertaining to what your making you comments about..that way when you make the comment it wont just be a blind judgment on a particular product like Lindows.....Lindows really isnt half window and half linix..its just a distro of linix, that along with some applications line WINE can run windows based applications.... =Drew

Like Primal said i would run a defrag...but try out O and O it seems to work better then diskkeeper 7 and the built in Xp one (well 4 me anyway) But be4 doing that i would runa registry cleaner try the one from JV16 Nice app! Also make sure your Hd is tiddy remove unnessary games apps and temp files etc etc then run the defrag, if using O and O i would reccomend the "Complete/Access" sytle of Defrag..i think it will suite the situation. Try all that and get back to us in the morning =Dr. Drew

On the XP rig that has the printer goto your Conrtol panel and select Printers and faxes..then right click on the printer and select properties. There are a few tabs there, make sure the orinter is shared always and also theres an option to install other drivers so that other rigs on different Os types can still use it, seclet the Win98 option and pop in a the cd that came with it, or direct it to a file on you r HD and install the win98 drivers(this might not have to be done) then goto the Win98 rig and got to the control panel and selet Printers and faxes then add a printer and select the option that says "Netowrk printer" then direct it to the Xp rigs printer hit ok and as long as the printer and computer are on, you can simple press Print while in a word document and it will print on the networked Printer.. Goto Tools>Accounts>Mail Tab> Then select your previous accounts and remove them (Do this only if you have all the information you need to create a new account with in Outlook) Then Add>Mail and go thru the Wizard and input all the information such as the pop 3 and SMTP Server address as well as your account name and password, weahther or not it uses Secure pass or not etc etc. All this Information can be found out your Service providers webpage under the heading of Email or Email settings, FAQ etc....or just call them up.... =Drew

Thats becasue your using the VLK Corporate key code that has been disabled in Sp1..your gonna have to find your self a new working key code mate..... Unfortunitly telling you how or where to get one is not legal nor do we support it here at MSFN Goodluck mate =Drew

I know Laptops run warm...but those temps seem a bit out of the rance of safe....then agian in not too familar with the exact prpper temps for a new P4 mobil =Drew
