  1. Why do you guys like black sabbath. I listen to all music, and what considers the metal genre, IMHO, Metallica is at the top, I consider James as one of the greatest lyrics writers, his voice is strong, and hammet is a 'solo guitarist' with class. Nirvana is special because of Cobains very distinctive dramatic voice. Nazareth is also very good as they have many hits, and a distinctive singer, Guns 'n roses same. Then there are many others as whitesnake, iron maiden, motorhead, soundgarden, audioslave.... But, imo, Ozzy and metal don't go together. His voice it to soft and dosn't sound nice with those heavy guitars, and it seems overstrained and sometimes even boring. Also Ozzy seems to chenge his voice, as some songs sound good (or is it a different singer?). I put i in the same box as Venom, ... It's a long time since i heared something from pantera, but they also didn't get my attention as i have no music from them (got best of BS doubledisc from Black sabbath) So tell me, what do you like so much about these groups, that i don't see. (btw, i am not looking for a fight ) Davor EDIT: Btw, Paranoid is GOOD, and Heaven & hell also, and there was another one which i can't remember.
  2. You will have to be more specific. No support for a mic isn't a problem as long as your receiver has avy inputs ... So, assuming that your receiver has cinch inputs, and your mic has a jack output, there are convertors from jack->minijack and also from minijack to stereo cinch. If your MIC is a more profesional one, with XLR outputs, then you'll need more expensive equipment, as this signal is lower and sound is send synchroniously, atleast if you want all the quality, if not, it also can be done with simple equipment, which also 'should' work. (like XLR to Jack) Davor
  3. All these given answers are for protected files that the WMP kan decrypt.... According to the original poster, these files are dwnloaded and aren't decryptable by WMP. As he states 'inaccessible'. Unfortunately, if the DRM protection uses RSA method (private/public key), which it probably does as it's being implemended everywhere these days, then there is no, nor will probably ever be (assuming that no brainbox comes with an revolutionary algorithm to resolve every number in prime-factors), way to decrypt it without knowing the private key... brute force is possible, but time is the bottleneck=> the bigger the number, the more time you need. 4. Don't know if i am at the right 'spot' but if someone has a better idea where to post this question, the idea is welcome Take a look at this video file. When you play it in WMP it's AR is 1.86. When you click on the properties, it says the actual AR is 1.28 (704 x 552, square pixels probably), but the displayed one is 1.86. My question is: how do you make such file which seems to be anamorphic, but when played, it is reshaped to normal (unsqueezed) picture. ( thought it had something to do with the header, but with asf viewer i couldn't find anything.) I can acquire the same displayed aspect ratio if i encode the scene with non-square pixels, but thats not the same as anamorphic (like this video file). As far as i know, anamorphic picture is encoded in square pixels and is decoded to nonsquare pixels (~16:11) so it seems natural (16/9). Also, to mention, when i encode it in nonsquare pixels, in properties the aspect ration is 1.86. So displayed and actual AR's are the same as i see it. As this is a WMV file i assume the maker used Windows media encoder to make it, but i don't know how, and i would like to know it Also, i forgot the link where i found it Davor : EDIT: can't upload the WMV file (1.7MB) Error: "The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments." Global Space Left: 4.88mb
  5. ... and thats what i did. But i think you didn't understand me. Look at the picture: Under 'General' you see the 'Windows firewall icon,' and on the right of the icon, you see the reason why it's all grayed out. Are you familiar with group policy? if so, type gpedit.msc in run, and search for the appropriate key, and modify it. If not, go to microsoft.com and learn about GP, or, just uninstall macafe if you think that is the problem. Davor
  6. I would like to point to the bluish text, from the screen shot, above: "For your security, some settings are controled by group policy" IMHO, no doubt the restriction is set there, by user or by program. Davor
  7. Mja .. thats what happens when messing too much with 3th hand software that 'knows it better' concernig security. From your description, before applying "Secure Desktop undo" i guess you'r 'fast user switsching' service was disabled AND a crutial service: Terminal services. You should also check 'secondary logon' service too. All these services (on my system) have manual startup, except the last is automatic. Anyhow, Terminal services should be working always. I would also advise you to check what "Secure Desktop undo" does, and undo it before re-activating those services i mentioned, as I am pretty mcuh sure Therminal services is disabled. You can find those services under administrative tools - services. Davor
  8. If I write a program to wipe out your registry completely, you would vote for me? jOke. As I see it, more doesn't mean better. Greets Davor
  9. The service is started by this command: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs Here is the service info: SERVICE_NAME: themes TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS STATE : 4 RUNNING (STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN) WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0) SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0) CHECKPOINT : 0x0 WAIT_HINT : 0x0 Use the commandline and explore the following tool: sc /? See through the possibilities and try to restore the service. A maybe better option for you is: Install un-lited windows and you will not have such problems in the future. Greets Davor
  10. Gladd8tor, you surely use MANY programs You know, i installed my XP ssomewhere at the end of 2002... and i have a virus scanner installed recently, and sometimes i do defrag/Disk cleanup. My IE temp folder is some 2.5GB, and temp folder some 0.2GB, all on a seperate partition. My system is also running smooth Greets Davor
  11. You probably removed something you shouldn't have ... See if service is disabled.
  12. Seems no-one has answered your second question To disable these extra keys you could go to device manager, uninstall the 'special keyboard' and install the default one. If you want to take a difficult way, that is changing virtual keys on driver basis, you could search for a thread I once started about scancode map registry key. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=53329&hl= A third way would be to download a program, but i guess those tend not to be on driver basis, stay activated all the time, and take up resources to do simple things, which I don't like . 13. Droc here is one pointer: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...Q321098&SD=MSKB Strange it only states Win2000 And here is comparable one: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;885189 Greets Davor

    SPDIF Question

Seems the sollution isn't rignt on hand. As the speaker decoder is working, the cable is OK, and the soundcard should output a digital soundstream, the only problem seems to be the soundcard, as you think too. So, try to contact the customer support, or just go to their website and see in their knowledge base or FAQ... the problem is maybee already known. Greets Davor
  16. what boooggy said is true, what you probably ment is what Microsoft put on their WU site a few months ago, and that is that support for XP SP0 (or was it SP1, can't remember, although am pretty sure it was SP0) will stop. This means that there will not be any 'hotfixes' for XPSP0, only for higher builds. Greets Davor
  17. probably tools - folder options and then somewhere 'disable simple sharing' Greets Davor

    SPDIF Question

If you output in SPDIF through coax you should have a decoder on the other side that decodes the sound prior to sending it to each seperate speaker in analog format. I don't know what speakers you use and why they have an coax input. You should check the manual for more explanation about the usage. Greets Davor
  19. are you sure that path exists? Copy paste in start-->run a folder should open up. Greets Davor
  20. backup registry before adjusting it! Search in registry for replace the value with That should solve the problem Greet Davor
  21. hmm, this probably requires you to run nView Desktop manager? (can't look into it right now, but it seems a possible solution) Thanks Elektrik
  22. When the computer hangs, does the HD LED still burns? If so, you probably have a bad cluster. If,not, chances are less, but still probable. Only thing you can do is do a full surface scan with chkdsk /r option and hope it can be repaired. (usually it will be repaired, with bad files deleded) (if the comp freezes during chkdsk, try again a few times) Afther that, best you back up all data and do a low format. Greets Davor
  23. well, i guess the chance is pretty big you are in PI/O mode... go in computer management - devices and see if you can change it to UDMA
