  1. hmm JasJar looks interessting, but not available in CH. I saw that the hx4700 sells again. lets see if I get it. Thanks anyway Jeeva
  2. I paid 140$AU (calculated) for the PSU. I have now decided to definately wait, next budget goes to a PDA or cell phone, I now see what I can do, but I saw myself not often gaming, but rather reading websites, viewing TV or installing Linux, so I wait for the next Platform, when it "feels" slow.
  3. today I got one, was a bit more expensive, but 5mins and I had it, no problems with shipment and payment, it was 9.75$ (estimated), the cheapest store has 5.50$ (estimated, too) and now add some $ for shipment, zust for that screw size thing! Now I applied and wait for the 200 h to reach its full efficiency, for now I have noticed I faster cool down when load -> idle. Additionaly, with everything except CPU and PSU cooler off, 'till now my system crashed with load in this setting, now the cpu goes to 50°C. Placebo Effect? - No definately no!
  4. Sure of that from Super Flower? I read through 5 Reviews also from THG and never seen any probs, the only issue is that I have to send it back, b/c one of the leds at the backside is no longer illuminating. I have a Socket 939 MoBo, the CPU is overclocked to 2007 MHz, I want to do some compiling (Gentoo Linux) and I let some time past 'till I go for new Hardware. The competitor for the 6600GT is the X800GT, allthough it is a little bit more expensive it has standard 256 MB and 256 Bit memory bus, unlike 6600GT with 128 Bit.
  5. I think you have already installed the WDM Driver, try out DScaler to check if iit's a problem with MPClassic
  6. I need that thing, and it isn't expensive at all, just 7 bucks!
  7. My MX 1000 can handle it like your MX700 even wit 2 cm distance from the table, no prob. Try out another Mousepad, I have a simple stick-on-table Pad, which came freely with "LinuxUser" a Linux magazine. For me the MX1000 is very good, it's now a week ago since I charged it, still has two green LEDs on. Gaming UT2004 with Sensitivity set to 10.00 so I mustn't use the whole table for just turning around, it's way more accruate than the Optical Pilot Wheel Mouse I had before. the Application Button is well placed better than on the other model, where you find it on the top. Side scrolling is a good feature, but rarely used with a 1280x1024 display.
  8. These Icons are very similar to KDE ones...
  9. hmm, has someone tested the differences? I still use the pad, that came with my CPU, it's a Athlon 3000+ Venice, running at normally 1800 but overclocked to 1980 now 2007 MHz, my highest Temp is 46°C what will happen when I take off the pad and use the AS5? would it go down to ~40°C? I have installed 7 Coolers in my Casetek C 1018, my GPU came now down in Idle from 66 to 59°C but my CPU is still the same as it was in that crappy case I had before.
  10. I have seen a PCI-e TV Card, but it's DVB-T I don't know if it's available in the U.S. markets and/or workable there, just seek for Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT it has Dual Tuners, so you can record one channel while watching another, in Switzerland it's available for just 137 CHF, that means it should be around 100$.
  11. Played it, for me it's working, but water effects are not smooth and also scrolling is horrible! But playable with Very High settings on a GF6600GT
  12. As of my statement, 'till I know of Avivo and the HDTV introduction using h.264 codec in Europe (I know you overseas have it allready, but using the inefficient MPEGII codec) I want to spare some money, with AOE III trial I have seen, that's it's pretty good playable on my 6600 GT and I'll try out also UT 2k7. A note to the mods, E-Mail notification actually doesn't work correctly at least for me. Sometimes I get one some times not. And I have also read about the e-mail flood protection and that doesn't apply for me nor have I any Spam filter activated on this account.
  13. When Opera went freeware, I downloaded and tested it, but went back to my well set up Firefox.
  14. yeah exactly, but something that made me thinking a bit about it was a passage in the Tom's Hardware guide, that stated, that also causual players shouldn't measure their playing time and decide with that the model, they say "Play time is Free time and shouldn't be spent by seeing bad quality or "diashow"" and imo that's right. Ok, thanks 2 all, I stay a while with my GF 6600GT and if time comes, and ATI AVIVO(1) is out and some games, that REFUSE to work with my GFX, I will consider upgrading, perhaps that will be after my apprenticeship and then I can afford it better. 1. ATI AVIVO is a technology on R500 Series of GPUs to decode HDTV H.264 Videos without taking too much CPU ressources.
  15. About the PSU, I have a 500W Super Flower PSU, which was in several tests stable still when consuming 550 Watts. What about the Temperature? Does the GF7800GTX get very hot? Have they optimized that? I heard that the 7800GTX isn't worth that money it costs, that's why I took the GF6600GT when building up my system 240 CHF (approx 199$) is inexpensive. well if you think of building a system and only have approx. 900$ available then you better give some more $ to PSU and Mobo rather than for RAM or GFX, as you change that easly and in a more frequently basis.
  16. Are there x64 Drivers anywhere? It's a NV43 Chip, it uses some kind of a philips decoder. I use VIVO to watch TV with an external VCR.
  17. Does anybody know how? I could get it, but now I'm stuck, I installed the Tools and a Database and it's asking me some things and finaly I got an ISO but it's not bootable. Have I something missunderstood?
  18. Sounds good, I have overclocked my 3000+ to 1980 MHz also easily
  19. according the website of HP the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade comes Spring 2006, but they no longer sell it, should I take it in a local reseller, who has them still available or should I drop it and wait for the next high end iPAQ? x51v is not bad, but I hate Dell!!!
  20. But there are some other things: QD has only dual-band, no stereo at all, no sidetalking and on-the-fly changable mmc-slot and no usb.
  21. sorry for the delay, something with the email notification in this forum is wrong, anyways: I want to play them in middle settings @ 1280x1024, as my TFT doesn't allow more, further it has only 20ms so I have a restriction here, too. Since Release 80 of nvidia drivers it's possible to SLI'ze two different GPUs, so perhaps my next sallary goes to a 7800GTX or a AMD X2, perhaps the second would be better, because i'm not a big gamer but rather a gentoo freak so I can compile that stuff way faster. So here my choices: Gigabyte NX7800GTX, GeForce 7800 GTX, PCI-E, VIVO, 256MB 755 CHF = ~590$ (that should be ok? or are there better brands?) or AMD Athlon 64 X2, 4400+, 2.2GHz, Dual Core, Toledo 813 CHF = ~635$ are they too expensive compared with your local prices? What you think will be the better investment, or would you just wait a while? The ATIs X1800s are not yet available
  22. For me Daemon-tools is the best, but that solid basis seems to break, since I wait since a year for the v4 with x64 support, but there are no better alternatives.
  23. I have a GeForce 6600 GT, it performs well, HL2, CS-Source and Unreal Tournament are playable with 6x AA and 16x AF, but F.E A. R. doesn't run well there, is my card and my sys (AMD64 3000+,1024 MB DDR400, 400GB HD) ready for upcoming UT2k7, AOE III, etc? Or need I insert another GF6600 in SLI-Mode or is my CPU just too slow? I read the article in the c't (a german professional PC Magazine) they stated, that more than the GPU power, nowdays the CPU is too slow for physics engine rendering.
  24. For me Personally, I had more problems installing an Intel Socket 478 System than an AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 System, regarding CPU and it's Cooler, both boxed ones.
