  1. Welcome to the board. peace on you as well.
  2. then you will need to use the rpm command. have you read the docs? http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/R...ide/ch-rpm.html
  3. @prathapml, thats the spirit. It's a great project, really teaches the guttyworks of a Linux distro. And also, I would be interested in checking out linspire if you could send info, thanks
  4. you actually have to type the "./" before configure the command is "./configure"
  5. wise decision if 2000 already does everything you need. And as has been mentioned, OpenOffice is very nice for free. Office2003 is what, 300$ or so? you can spend that $ better ways, I'm sure.
  6. @Iceman In my defense, the ss-50 was old, and I was young. Ain't quite ready for false teeth and depends... yet
  7. @Iceman, sorry to break it to you, but if you had trs-80 you are geezer too.
  8. s100 bus huh? I wrote my first flexbasic program in 1980 on ss-50 bus swtpc http://oldcomputers.net/swtpc-s09.html I think many on this board have never seen a i486, let alone these dinasaurs. Remember the sheer joy of your first 8 inch floppy? or 5 MB hard drive?
  9. Why throw your $$ away? Office2000 does everything any home user and most corperate users would ever want. If you want to upgrade to something get OpenOffice... Plenty of "bells and whistles", and it's free!
  10. spywareblaster is definately worth it. spybot and ad-aware are great for cleaning up spyware, but spywareblaster keeps it from getting installed in the first place. even if you don't get it to install silent it is worth the time to install manually.

    xp pro

If it came with the install disks for included software (if any) then just do a full new install of xp pro, only choose "upgrade" if you got a lot of time invested or software that you can't replace. Upgrade usually works ok when windows is fairly new (ie. before any registry errors creep in) but full install is better. You can do a full install from xp pro "upgrade" disk if you have other windows version. It will check your disk to determine if you already own windows, else will ask you to insert cd if you format the drive first.
  12. Figgered it was me, thanks.
  13. when I send a pm it is not appearing in sent items, although I get confirmation message was sent. is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?
  14. don't run the "convert" command, just the steps under "resolution". this will not format your drive, just replace a file.

    Country PHP Sig

this piece of source code of your example page <script language="javascript" src="http://map.geoup.com/~43608/geoup?template=widescreen" class="style17"></script> calls this site to get location. code probably uses ip address to determine location http://www.geobytes.com/
  16. If you have already deleted win98 and installed xp your files are almost certainly completely or at least partially overwritten. a program like handyrecovery might be able to find some fragments, but probably nothing usable. The idea is to back up BEFORE you delete.
  17. And some too well... no lie, I had a call the other day asking where the "Any" key was. Ya can't make this stuff up!
  18. just add a "move" command or copy and delete to your batch.
  19. sounds too simple to even bother with a script. why not a cmd? just call "rar a <in path> <out path>". add this cmd to scheduled tasks.
  20. I assume you have tried F8 safe mode? If no luck boot from install cd and do "repair" installation. This will leave all your programs and files intact.
  21. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...&hl=termsrv.dll maybe someone from this thread still has it. try PM
  22. hi soulin, I found your new blog by googling "pfr" "remove respawning processes" Up for a week and your indexed!. Very nice, and let me say your English is far better than many English-only speakers. I would not have guessed it wasn't your first language. Your project sounds interesting... never heard of PFR before, and you seem to be one of the few discussing it. I see there is a regkey in session manager, but haven't found anything on how to use it yet. Can you post some more info? I am mediocre VB programmer (main language is VFP), but I can usually convert vb scripts to vb exe and add GUI and stuff without too much trouble. I would love to see your script. My main job now is service, so I am interested in learning anything I can about malware and virus removal. PFRTest.zip
  23. try running "Repair" option from install disk.
  24. you could add a shortcut to the start menu trunk that calls your script. dont think you could easily get it into shutdown dialog. maybe 3rd party tool.
  25. yeah, sorry. I was thinking xp, I didn't notice the 98 til after I read it again. you have to install poledit in 98 options, but thinking about it I don't remember this option for shutdown. My 98 partition is stripped for gaming, so I don't have it installed anymore either so can't check. someone must make a 3rd party tool for this, it seems like it would be a common task. Edit: you could try a script to do your tasks then run "rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows"
