I looking to be able to have programs that are minimized on my task bar, not automatically open when I start up my computer. They are wasting memory and they are not in use. I have to manually close each one. Thank you.

I have a google sight as my home page for every time Explorer opens. All of a sudden, now when I go to open my home page, my homepage comes up for a second and then automtically goes to an advertisement for an anti virus program. In my Control Panel my home page is still listed as normal. Now I have blinking icons on my task bar, when I click them on they go right to these anti virus sites automatically. It is as if someone got into my computer and has switched it, but I cannot switch it back. I tried going into Contol Panel to remove these, but I do not see any programs with there names on it. One icon takes me to a Spylocked site. How can I fix this?

Thank you, I ended up signing up with EMax. My goal is to set up a web site forum very similar to this one. This board uses a very common template like most other boards, topics with discussions, questions and replies. I am not too sure how to get it started. I have Front Page. I just e mailed E Max to see if they support Front Page. Does anyone where I can find the same template this site uses? I did not see it in Front Page, but maybe I need to look harder and maybe make some adjustments. Thank you.

Does anyone know of a good place to find answers about MS Front Page? I am building a web site and when I go to publish it, it asks me to enter a publish destination. I have Comcast and do not know how to do this. I am not sure what destination to put. Thanks, Dean

Like an id*** I deleted a very import Word document and I can not get it back. I deleted it from the Recyle Bin. Is there any possible way to retrieve this Word document from my computer? Thank you, Dean

I am using the program that came with the system, Compaq Recovery Creator. I am using DVD+RW discs. When I had Windows 98, I had no problem dragging and dropping, for some reason on this one I do.

First thing is that I am trying to make my back up copy of the XP operating system. The problem I am having is that it keeps telling me to put in a blank DVD and I am using brand new ones. I do not know why it thinks the DVDs have any info on them. Second, I forget how to move a shortcut to a program to the taskbar on the bottom so I can access it easier. Thanks

I just bought a new computer with XP on it. I have a Visioneer Paperport 3100 Scanner from years ago which I ran on Windows 98. I cannot find an updated driver or a way to run this scanner with XP. Any ideas? Thank you.

Because I had to install Windows XP on my computer, all of my old software was done through Windows 98. I am trying to open my original recovery disc that came with my computer and Windows 98. I have my software for my cd copier on it. I am not sure if it is possible to open this disc or not. When I go into the disc to open I get, "Irfanview IMG File 1441 KB" on "My Computer". When I click it to read the E:\Recovery disc, I get the following, "E:\STARTUP.IMG:" Can't Read File Header! Unknown File Format! It is no surprise to me that I have ran into this problem. I wanted to find out if there is any other way to get to the software from the 98 discI and install it on my XP, I need to run my cd copier. Thank you

As I was installing Window XP, I had to delete Windows 98 and everything I had with it. You can imagine how much I had since Windows 98 was my last operating system. I have two questions: 1. Is there any way to retrieve my deleted programs and files from my hard drive? 2. I am trying to reinstall my original programs from the original software disk, am I am not succeeding. I am unable to find "setup" on the disk. Thank you
