What do you get if you run "sigcheck -i wsusscn2.cab"?

Thanks @Dibya for the warning. I installed that redist just the other day, yet no abnormality observed yet. I don't know what specific app will call that redist. Is there an old version of 2015~2019 redist not affected?

The script uses current path so no need to change anything. I have no idea why you got that message if you have already installed all XP updates including Posready.

Did you try my new uploaded jscript? I had encountered phenomenon that signature related error on same wsusscn2.cab file that previously works, and the error would disappear after system restart; also it seems have something to do with the way function UpdateServiceManager.AddScanPackageService is called (maybe WUMT encounterd the same thing). My new jscript seems to have eliminated that symptom (on my machine). YMMV

You could try my jscript to scan updates offline (updated and no modification is needed): scan updates offline.js Read comments first, for you should modify it a bit (the path to wsusscn2.cab). p.s. If you do not have an old wsusscn2.cab file, don't use the link in the comment to download it! This is the link I used to download, but now it is SHA-2 signed and cannot be used on XP. As @max-h previously indicated, you should download from https://web.archive.org/web/20191209214827if_/http://download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab (I tried it myself and that file is unusable either. Will update after found a good one.) You should download this 842MiB file (this is the last one works on archive.org): http://web.archive.org/web/20200711000232/download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab and put it in the same directory as the js file.

Yes today I could reproduce the problem again. I should wait a little longer to see it happen. Maybe the page has a js continuously running and will hog all resource sooner or later. But here I have no "busy script" alert here: basilisk.exe just crashes when reaching maximum memory available (private bytes reaching about 1.4GiB, normally 300~500MiB), maybe because I have set virtual memory to 0 (I have 2GiB physical memory).

Not only fiverr.com, but also fiverrcdn.com should be allowed, and browser be restarted after changing about:config to reproduce the hang. update: I was about to say thank @XPerceniol I have narrowed down to "javascript.options.baselinejit;true", but suddenly I cannot reproduce the hang by all means. Strange, but also good for I do not want to turn that option off: it slows js executing about 10 times according to sunspider test.

Today I visited a page causing Serpent52 hang: https://www.fiverr.com/categories/programming-tech/desktop-app-services/application-improvements When Noscript enabled, it could load; after enabled javascript, or restarted in safe mode, the browser freezes, takes 50% CPU (dual core), increases memory occupation near 100%, and I have to kill it.

Yes, that's the way to go. I modified "<em:minVersion>52.9</em:minVersion>" and it works. I think that's because the version of Serpent 52 is always 52.9.0.

I install it in latest Serpent52, but it shows incompatible and disabled. I revert to 1.1.7 (working before) , but it is disabled too!

I'd like to try Zotero add-on for Serpent 52, as this link (https://laptrinhx.com/basilisk-browser-to-run-downthemall-zotero-legacy-addons-once-again-3877096175/ )suggested, it should install fine on Basilisk. But I tried zotero-4.0.29.25.xpi from official site and zotero-3.0.11-fx.xpi from CAA, both failed to run, giving "There was an error starting Zotero". The add-on's option window could be opened, but it seems malfunction, e.g. the "choos..." button does not response. Please take a look. update: I searched and found the problem has been raised before in this thread (page 14). According to the hint I verified that version 20191026 is the last that support Zotero. So in 20191102's changelog: Which one could be the culprit and be reversed?

Is there any certificate manager add-on that could be on Serpent? I tried caa:addon/certificate-manager but it seems not work as it claims to replace the built-in certificate GUI. Correction: After restart it launches OK.

My findings add support to your prudence. I think my effort could be regarded as kinds of intensively checking :)

Did you install them on an old system, or do a fresh install (direct integration)? If the former, the old dll files have registered themselves correctly. You could do a simple test to confirm: open regedit.exe, delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines, then run "regsvr32 msjet40.dll " to see if the key has been registered again. If not, run my msjet40.dll.reg provided above to restore.

Just another two dll file in the post-SP3 update that cannnot register themselves: msjet40.dll and msjetoledb40.dll. It will trigger "The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine" error on programs calling Jet function. The needed reg files are attached. msjetoledb40.dll.reg msjet40.dll.reg

The poll question and option is a little vague. For me, my PC is WinXP, and work is done on XP also. As long as this laptop's hardware do not wear out, and there is no necessity on win7 (or later) I have to use, I will continue use it.

I encounter an incompatibility issue of Access 2002 in MS Office XP (other versions may be affected too) with POSReady 2009 updates, and would like to share my findings. If install Office XP on a directly prepared POSReady 2009 system (by nlite in my case) and run Access, it will complain about "Workgroup Administrator couldn't create the workgroup information file." I searched quite a lot but could not find a solution. I did lots of experiments, and in the end, the closest solution is at https://www.betaarchive.com/wiki/index.php/Microsoft_KB_Archive/317708 , to register msjtes40.dll; but that is not the whole story. The problem is that msjtes40.dll in the post-SP3 update could not register itself: it reports success but in fact does not write registry. Attached is the registry entries that should be written, retrieved through the old dll version 4.0.9502.0 with SP3. I would not take more time to determine which specific update causes the problem. Maybe a normal updating method (install SP3 first and then those post-SP3 updates) would not cause the issue, since the old version should have registered correctly. msjtes40.reg

The first thing I encountered is "incompatible" add-ons: But in fact some seems function, like autoproxy, downthemall, noscript; but some does not, like "Live http headers", "Tab tree", etc. How could I tell whether an add-on could function, or make it function through some minor modification under IceApe?
