Since Windows Update is kinda useless in build 6002 i have a question. Does anybody here knows since i’m using extended kernel if installing sha-2 support would fix the issue with windows update? I’m scared that it would replace kernel32.dll

    Thanks in advance

    No

Thanks to the the user called windows vista 2008 he was the reason why I stayed with windows vista.

perhaps that user is @WinClient5270 who changed his name.

One of the features is with windows damascene she can watch any movie on her desktop. Even few others that is not included in server 2008 sp2.

    Sometimes at start up

It will Logon Process Initialization Failure
Interactive logon process initialization has failed.
Please consult the event log for more details.

If that happens NVidia will fail that in turn Intel graphics freeze the whole system?

Again that is a known bug with vista. Does the extended kernel fix this login issues?

Did you mean Dreamscene? extended kernel doesn't fix the interactive logon error , we might be in for a surprise though in the future.

Is there any way to fix this for Vista? I only see ways to make it work on 7.

Yes , get the SHA-2 Update from Server 2008 SP2 , but that is only one part of it , since its probably against forum rules i cannot say more but you can do your research. I did get it to work though on my end.

Hi, I've just built kind of my dream 2008 PC and I've installed XP and Vista on it. I've gotten the XP side of things working fine, but I can't for the life of me get Windows Update to work on Vista. I've tried a few YouTube tutorials, but none seem to work, but feel free to post some of the easy answers in case I missed something.

Here's the specs if it helps anyone
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6700
    4GB DDR2 800
    Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi
    Intel 82566DC Gigabit Network Adapter

EDIT: I tried updating my Ethernet driver off of the Microsoft Update website, and that didn't work, though the driver I downloaded was from 2011, but it seems that Intel isn't carrying any Vista drivers for any of their Ethernet products anymore. If anyone has an archive of an updated driver, that would be great.
EDIT 2: archive.org is a great website. Using some link copying I found a link for the Vista driver for this Ethernet controller, and while updating the driver still didn't fix the issue, I'll still post the link for archival purposes. https://web.archive.org/web/20181130184021/downloadmirror.intel.com/18718/eng/PROWinx64.exe

    Dear WinClient5270

I compiled an installer for firefox 79 (beta) for Windows Vista with the extended kernel

When installed, it should work out of the box.

I hope this makes it to the compatible software list :)

    Best regards!

It will dont worry , as mentioned previously by WinClient5270, he is very busy due to a surge of work so it might take a while.

Okay so I tried installing it again and the screen was still throwing that error at me and anyway, I got my old desktop back after sending it to a repairman and it works very well, so now I'll keep 7 on the laptop for now. Anyways, thanks for all your replies.

Feel free to ask , you're always welcome.

Nice to see people that actually like and enjoy windows vista.

Is there any approximate month/year when this project will get into a stable version/or at least get out of alpha?

Welcome to MSFN :hello:, Basically theres no alpha or beta it just depends on which functions that are added are needed for the software you use , currently many functions are added to the x64 files which is quite good and helpful for running unsupported software , and the 32bit ones are being worked on , this ofcourse wouldn't be possible without win32 so do give him your thanks

  8. @asdf2345 see the results for yourself , fps is on the top right , using the icafe drivers you provided , do note that this isn't terrible performance of only the icafe ones , all the drivers have the same performance like mentioned before.

    Windows 7 : https://imgur.com/a/kFgP3sU

    Windows Vista : https://imgur.com/a/YF0xYOR

Windows 7 image is just for what the real FPS should be.

There are drivers that you can get from a archived download on Intel's site, but XPDM is too different from WDDM I guess.

Yea its a lot different , i heard someone did try to modify it to make it work with Vista but there was an issue with the ribbon inferace or so and aero would not work at all.

Same with my 4720HQ laptop (With no GPU drivers :( HD 4600 is too new).

Its actually sad , because XP has 4600 drivers and i heard they work but on Vista it doesnt , the drivers are unofficial though but still made by some Ex-intel people.

I tried that, and it failed. Next thing I'm trying is seeing if there are alternate functions that will satisfy the programs; if so, then the new functions will be directed to those. But the AppUserID stuff in the taskbar is quite novel.

Any word about the  LoadLibraryExW rewrite , havent heard about it in a while.
