I now switched to Windows 10 x64, for the present being. Trying to get "LIBRARIES" removed completely from the Navigation-Pane from the Main Explorer window, File-Open, and Save-As menu's, WITHOUT the Library items being removed from the Explorer view pane (right side). Per my previous registry tweak for Windows 8.1x64. There are no registry tweaks on the internet that allow this for Windows 10, and the registry tweak for Windows 8.1x64 is the only one that works as intended and only available here on MSFN (all other registry tweaks on the internet completely remove Libraries, mine do not), but again my registry tweaks are solely for Windows 8.1x64 and do not completely remove the Libraries... So, this is an attempt to tweak the Explorer Navigation-Pane and Explorer-Pane Libraries, or at least hoping so. Though these options should inherently be within Windows itself, not Microsoft shoving their idealistic trash over to it's consumers. We need customizations and options to suit our individual way of productivity. This is what I discovered so far: ; NOTES: These specific keys, below, are associated with the Music Library in Windows 10 x64. There are TWO keys listed to a single library item, unlike Windows 8.1x64. The DWORD value of 0 (show) does not work is quickly overridden by the above tweaks. Using the above REG files did nothing and is also missing critical registry information. Though I found a reg file on AskAVG but that wasn't applying to my system and removing the entries as it ought to. Besides, MOST of these REG tweaks found on the internet actually DELETE the LIBRARY keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\." That's just annoying. So I just created a new reg file and works great, I can now have the libraries removed from the nav pane and still have any particular LIBRARY Folder I chose to display within the explorer window above the drives. I'm also certain I could add additional Folders, besides LIBRARY folders, to the Explorer pane as well. . These numskuls at M$ are at it again?! Doesn't surprise me when the company is full of dimwitted neanderthals. This crap occurred the day Windows 10 rolled out, and most everyone I know who hadn't wanted Windows 10 had to roll back to their previous version of Windows 7/8, which caused enormous problems. As a future note to others take a look and read about the AEGIS-Voat script and apply it. The script prohibits Microsoft the ability to upgrade Windows 7/8 to Windows 10 and blocks some known privacy invasive KB patches. M$ reserves absolutely zero right for the crap they are forcing upon their customers. Absolutely NONE. Furthermore, people need to wake up (needing a swift kick in the head) and need to consult with their local state representatives and those in other countries need to contact their representatives.

I know the "Library" shortcuts can be removed from within explorer, but looking to just remove these from the navigation panel and not the main Folders, Devices, and drives. Possible? There must be a way to clear any entries that were related to Ultimate... if they even do exist, still it's a step in the correct direction and may not be easy. Also, as previously noted... I have valid licenses for all versions of Windows. I read so many posts about licenses etc... etc, and so many people/guppies out there micromanaging Microslum. It's completely irrelevant and frankly no one's business.

Then tell me how a user can, but cannot "go down edition" according to you, downgrade from W7U to W7HP?! There are also posts on Microslum support pages claiming that W7U can downgrade to W7P! Not so much less features, just the ability to downgrade a licensed machine from W7U to W7P so I can image and license my other machine without having to reinstall everything.

Rolled back to a later clone so the system is now back to W7U. The following error displays: "Windows 7 Ultimate cannot be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”." The above error displays while attempting to downgrade from W7U to W7P, but it will NOT display when downgrading from W7U to W7HP. While "upgrading" to Windows 7 Home Premium, which is not the objective, the "upgrade" process will continue through checking compatibility then it'll start migrating the system. However, when attempting the later, setup will not even begin checking for compatibility, rather go straight to the above error.

I've attempted to downgrade W7U to W7P, but I continue receiving an error claiming it cannot continue with setup. Though, I was able to downgrade W7U to W7HP by completing the same EXACT steps as I had while attempting to downgrade from W7U to W7P. That's so annoying! The steps included modifying something within the setup package and the current windows registry. Now, after the downgrade to W7HP .... it will not upgrade to W7P, I receive the same EXACT message claiming it cannot complete! I forgot the exact message, since I was doing this a couple weeks ago. I felt inclined to post now because I'm ditching W8 and despise W10. (*offtopic: Microslum must really want their customers to move to Linux based systems!) The error was something like "Windows cannot complete the setup from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium... etc.. etc..." I'll have another go at it when I have time, and post the exact error during setup. If anyone has any suggestions, or knows the issue, please let me know. This was done on an image to make sure everything had completed sucessfully before reimaging the system.

It's not what you may be thinking... "keylogger," but relatively similar I suppose. I'm looking for a piece of software that can monitor, not record, keyboard and mouse input. I've located Passmark KeyboardTest but the application does is not capable of monitoring input devices while its in the background. I have to visually see the events as they're being processed. Um, the entire point of the post is that Windows DOES NOT manage memory as it ought to, and it should without a 3rd party application to do it. Developers should also be concerend about optimizing their applications. I never stated RAM was inferior than SSD or mechanical drives as some are assuming, and the notion that memory is "cheap" is the grand notion that developer are too **** lazy to optimize an Operating System or their applications. I dread to see the day, and it will happen, a developer will claim that their application requires 64Gb of memory, when it could and can operate at 2/3rds the amount at peak performance. Also, I'm not insuling anyone personally, I'm insulting the fact that developers continuelly throw down to Microsofts lazyness and willful ignorance. No one liked Steve Jobs because he was basically an asshat, but he also got s*** done and fired incompetent developers who made claims "it's just how it is.." or "it can't be done.." blah. Microsoft ought to be stepping up to the plate, and people and government shouldn't just accepting bul*****. For example DWM.exe... it operates fine around 6mb of memory after I clear the cache it will creep up to 18mb of memory (all the junk inside the app), same with some other services, but the major complaint are useless items as DWM.exe and Windows Store apps that are COMPLETELY useless and unnecessary. As I stated before and continue to state.. touch features, windows store, and the like ought to be an OPTION for users to install.. it should not be forced into the users lap. Microsoft should provide a bare minimal modern OS to users and provide the consumer the option to add certain features (without additional charges), NOT load it with bloatware. Over three-quarters of the services and applications on any given Windows OS are useless and will never see the time of day to the average consumer, not only some advanced users. If we want or need a feature at any given time, we could install it, then remove it when it is not needed, yet that option is NOT there. Thats the beauty of nix machines, they're also capable of managing memory far better than WIndows. Perhaps I am worried about what TaskManager is showing for free memory too, but that really diminishes when I attempt to load a specific application and won't load because there isn't enough free memory, when in fact there is, but Windows services and applications are hogging system resources. The problem vanishes the minute I clear memory from active and standby. Sure, I could go out and purchase more memory, but that is besides the point. In essence, that thought process is no different than. oh.. lets just repair the broken water pipe with some ducktape, duketape will hold, eventually it'll begin to leak and perhaps cuase more issues. Instead of actually replacing the damaged pipe. Anyway, here is my RamMap screenshots. The first two screenshots is 5 minutes after a reboot at Idle (WMO + Rammap). Third screenshot is after I empty / clear memory using RamMap, give. Fourth screenshot is clearing memory using MemRect. Wise Memory Optimizer loads on startup. Provides GUI dynamic graph of memory usage, upon startup it spikes to about 3.2GB of system memory, then gradually down to 1.9Gb roughly.
