XP Pro 32bit on X99 with 16GB of Ram, only 912MB of RAM available, why?
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows XP
I googled, i looks like problem with memory range for some device, is too huge, but i dont know how to change it. Other people had same problem. When i boot in Linux 64bit i see all 16 GB of RAM. I also tested Win 7 64bit - all ok and other fully image of WinXP 32 image transfer - same problem - cca 920 MB RAM. I know that XP is not supported, but this board is XP 32 bit unfriendly i dont know if other X99 could be better (more that 1 GB of RAM). https://superuser.com/questions/89997/windows-only-sees-768-mb-ram-out-of-4-gb https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/978610/the-usable-memory-may-be-less-than-the-installed-memory-on-windows-7-b Similar problem of other user here with Asrock board and X99 and Windows 2000 - 1.5 GB of Ram, from 4 GB: Here you can see, that memory address range for one BUS PCI is huge. I dont know maybe is because i disable lost of integrated devices for smoother install, i checked bios, there is no setting which could affect this. Update i just checked Win 7 64bit device manager memory range for this device is same - it could be Bios design flaw - nobody care about 32 OS usage, i wonder if Windows 7 32 or Windows 10 32bit would have more RAM available? Update: I have tried 3 GPus and Windows 7 32 bit - its the same. -
Hello, i have this X99 MB -MSI X99S SLI PLUS with Windows XP SP3 32bit + Geforce 7950 GT PCI-E - all updates and 2x 8GB (3000 Mhz, Dual Channel) of DDR4 Memory, Aida64 see - 2 stick In Windows i see only 912 MB of available of RAM, im used to 3.* GB or 2.9 or something like that what could be wrong? Part of cd image was some Firadisk driver i have such device in device manager. Im using IDE mode of Sata devices and some null drivers for unknow devices - but problem with RAM was right after installation. How to fix it? BTW im still looking for Intel 218-V driver for XP, sound and GPU acceleration is working so, if i fix RAM problem and LAN driver - XP for retro gaming could be great with this board.

Can someone pleas share that Windows 2000 / XP 32bit - Intel 218-V driver?

Device ID 15A1. I have tried driver e1d above, i was able to install it, but it was not working - exclamation mark, after reboot - Start could not be started. I have invested a lot of time so not networking without some coding (i dont know if just some inf editation could be enough) -
Windows 98 SE dont change boot option to safe mode after crash
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Hmm, this is not solution.. i still got error windows not finish loading error and default boot option after that is still 3. -
Ok, thanks it is working. Only installation process was a bit, complicated - when i point Device manager to driver folder, i got endless searching for driver dialog, which have to be killer, after that, in Device manager for new device with Exclamation mark, but was now possible to use Have to a disk option and point driver searcher directly to *.inf file. I have Asmedia and Intel Sata controller and im using Paragon GPT driver, so i have to switch between IDE and AHCI mod in Bios and install Asmedia Sata driver in safe mode and after that i could switch to back from IDE to AHCI.

Hello, im trying to remove driver - ASATAFLT.sys which i can see in autoruns, it has Asus signature, is from old board, i now have other MSI board, i have tried disable device in autoruns or delete all registry entries, there is not some related installed software, but everytime when i disable it, im getting boot bluescreen. How to fix it and properly remove it? If you need more information, i would provide them.

Windows 98 SE dont change boot option to safe mode after crash
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows 9x/ME
My machine is working this way - crash, reboot - i got system protection error, reboot - safe mode is default - reboot - scandisk and normal boot - Its annoying, i dont know if is QEMU or Win98 fault, but too much rebooting. -
Seaching for Intel 210-219 LAN XP / 2003 32 / 64 bit driver

Its somehow possible use driver for other or similar device just by change some IDs? Its just Lan card, i dont have problem pay some bucks for driver. Its possible somehow hack other driver to use it with this card? -
cdob: Sorry im not in location were now computer is, but yes im doing this types of cloning for years, problem is that this ITX board, were only USB ports avalaible are intel USB3 and whole computer is in case passively cooled - Akasa Euler S, it would be quite hard to access USB2 ports headers and have possibility to run a machine (cooling), i have tried some USB2 port to USB3 header cable, but it doesnt helped with my problem - keyboard and mouse are not working, OS is booting at least into safe mode and here cursor blinking.. I have tried connect mouse and keyboard directly or through USB hub no success. I have on same machine second Windows 7 partition, installed with USB3 drivers include and its running well. Its Skylake system, board is ASUS Q170T. There are even SW to adjust Hardware in machine to new machine - P2P (Physical to Physical) adjusment or Dissimilar HW recovery tools. Problem is that as far as i know, only tool, which could to it, without whole image recovery, only just adjust is Paragon HDD Professional and unfortunately - his taste of INF files is quite problematic - lots of valid INF files not working with this tool - its scanned as invalid or empty. I can do same really nasty convert this partition in VirtualMachine add drivers (+ not only USB, also for Lan and add VNC client as backup), make image and recover image into physical machine, but it would take lots of time and there would be some virtual machines drivers leftovers.

Just for info my HW: Newest Unraid - trial is OK, booting from USB - 1 Old 3,5 Seagate 320GB HDD for all unraid data, no parity driver, for VM is used only 10G Geforce 7950GT - MSI NX7950GT-VT2D512 - PCI-E 512MB - passthrouth to Win98 VM DDR 3 8 GB RAM signle channel, but for Win 98 VM is used only 256 MB Z97 board - Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 - Because of VT-d support and lots of slots for PCI-E devices // Only USB2 port forwarding is working, so USB3 is unless for Windows 98 unraid usage CPU Intel i5 4440s - only 1 core is assigned for Win 98 machine USB Audio - http://www.ebay.com/itm/182262415490?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT - just 2$ stuff with free shipping and driver is on Win98 SE CD USB Lan - not working for now, but there people with working USB LAN in Win98 SE - import data to virtual to mounted ISO in virtualmachine, for ISO editing im using WinISO 6.1 Unraid settings: - enable Virtual machine module - look above, for boot from CD is needed, manualy edit Unraid xml to change boot device order - for installation have to be used VNC gpu driver - can bypass not working USB until USB controller driver is installled

Hello, i have managed boot Windows Xp and Geforce 970, but i need also some Audio and Lan driver, and using USBtoLAN adapter as backup and without sounds gaming boring, i had MSI board MSI Z97 Gaming 7 where all these things working, but wasnt available, so i have bought Asrock Z97 Extereme 4/3.1 Yes i could use also USB audio or soundcard, but switching is annoying. Update: Realtek HD 2.74 seems to work fine, so only LAN driver is needed.

Hexen 2 demo - OpenGL version is running well, after OpenGL32 replacement (from Windows\System) game running well Heretic 2 demo - crash after menu, probably so OpenGL dll machine is needed, i wanst able to find out, which dll is for opengGl to replace it UT99 - sometimes i start it and its FPS 10 FPS, sometimes is 60 FPS, probably depends what i do before, maybe i driver often broken after other action
