  1. gee, you're not asking much, are you? good luck. as far as OS dev's, i'd guess they're focusing their attention exactly where they want to - without your invaluable assistance. like another poster mentioned, you seem to pick and choose your battles very carefully, ignoring many relevant points. for instance, in a previous post i commented that your whole argument regarding support for 9x is largely moot. why? because dev's very often offer driver and s/w downloads for a particular platform. and if they don't, there's often alternatives. give it up already!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. i never checked, but i'd guess that the 'hard drive' isn't actual drive with spinning platters, is it? i'd figure it's more like a 'disk on chip'.
  3. check the event manager too, just for the heck of it. i'd guess it may be a graphics driver problem. you could try a different driver. you might want to check OmegaDrivers as well. his are optimized.
  4. as per ripken204's advice, check your cables. once you know for a fact that the cables are properly connected and, if it still doesn't work, then it may be possible you have a bad cable. also, are you sure you have the correct cable for the drive (40 pin, 80 pin, SATA or whatever)?
  5. found this on the infamous Sysinternals website. looks pretty cool!
  6. yeah, some stream rather well, while others keep redrawing the image. may have to do with how good the connection to the server is i suppose, or how they have the stream configured.
  7. i tried Opera myself a short time ago. it is fast. just curious though; what functionality does Opera have that's missing in FF? and what version of FF are you using and is it a custom build?
  8. perhaps try it using the F6 method, if you haven't given up yet.
  9. guess that has to do with 'MIME' types - something i never figured out how to manipulate in IE or FF (not that i ever really tried).
  10. i can't access his website. i hope it's being DOS'd this one still works though http://www.grcsucks.com/
  11. @Bi0haZarD - pretty cool! works fine here - FF 1.5
  12. i did, but i didn't look for Clam because i just assumed it wouldn't be there
  13. i just scanned it with my trusty ClamWin and came up clean.
  14. uh oh it may be a good thing you don't have a microwave. i was only kidding. microwaving a CD destroys it. but ****, it sure looks cool just 3 seconds is all it takes.
  15. it pretty much already is, especially the last few weeks (i've been off of work). i like the community. lot of good people here.
  16. @Eletrik - see here also... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=63&t=65218
  17. the advantages of stand-alone applications is that they are generally much cleaner - many do not write to the registry and do not dump files all over the drive. un-installation often means just deleting the directory in which the program resides - done. and, as mentioned previously, they're often portable, so you can easily run them from a flash drive for instance. AnalogX - is a great resource for stand-alone software! although some stuff is packaged with an installer, none of his stuff installs files outside of the program directory. Sysinternals - a lot of useful, stand-alone apps. Stand Alone is another good resource.

  19. @LLXX - what about voltage and timings? i always get errors until i set the voltage correctly (athlon 64 - pretty particular about memory). @ceez - unless LLXX knows something i don't, i'd suggest finding out exactly what the voltage and timings are supposed to be set at for your MB/memory combo. you may find that info on the MB vendors site.
  20. can't wait for the next episode "barbie in the big house" that was good!
  21. there's a lot of PayPal horror stories which is why i never use it, except out of necessity at work. for the heck of it, i just now keyed in "paypalsucks" in my browser to see what i'd find. interesting reading: http://www.paypalsucks.com/
  22. @LLXX - that's one way of doing it, but adblock provides so much more functionality, auto-updates and ease of use. you can use it to block just certain elements of a webpage for instance.
  23. cool. if you think about it, post back with the results if you send the file to them.
  24. @timeless - no, you're wrong. it's not clippy, it's that **** little dog in the search assistant - check your facts next time @seapagan - my sentiments exactly! good reading here: http://www.grcsucks.com/
  25. contact them directly and find out. i highly suspect that's a false positive.
