  1. Well, at least you have a reason to buy a new, more expensive board. so i guess if i threw my comp out of the window right now, i would have an excuse for getting an extreme quad with 2x8800gtx's?
  2. Idontwantspam-lol, we have good conversations on this board too. of coarse im a geek, although most people have no idea. now to your definitions, i have NEVER in my life met someone who is amazing smart in school that is interested/focused on computers/technology. and i am definetly focused on that and not on school... thats why i say a nerd is only school related..
  3. ya and im just pointing that out. when ppl think that sataII is faster than sataI, its not true. b/c the raptor is sataI.
  4. lol, well that is a pretty gigantice res! now im sure you are using the latest DX...
  5. thats kinda what i was thinking. but there are php modules that can read word docs so he wont even need to save them as txt.
  6. well he can buy that quadro if he wants but i just see it as a waste. btw, have an of you seen the 8800gts/gtx version of the quadro yet? http://www.3dprofessor.org/Reviews%20Folde...600/FX46001.htm
  7. lol, i love it when people put threads in the wrong sub-forums. if your going to be working with maya and other similar software then you definetly need a good card. the 8800gts/gtx is the perfect card for gaming and design. but the quadro still wins when it comes to handling large models. 8800's are only pci-e tho. i would have to agree with 3aces here, but it depends on your budget. see we run into a big problem here, if you move to pci-e then that means new mobo, prolly new ram and cpu also. you will have to do an upgrade eventually but its your choice. do you work for a company? or is this for kind of a personal use?
  8. and why not!? how am i suppose to classify it then? im just pointing out how actual speed is basically the same.
  9. http://vista.beyondthemanual.com/2006/11/v...elnet_back.html
  10. my latest with the 64bit versions and the seagate 320gig hdd:
  11. haha, nice catch. but that BadAxe2
  12. there is no way to fix the text unless you decide to get a HDTV. the resolution on ur tv (and mine) just sucks. but at least those videos play fine. i have a similar connection but i use a radioshack svideo->rca converter which makes it look even crappier for text. dvds are meant for tv(low res) so they display fine. if you get an analog tv tuner then make sure it has a nice resolution. for the fullscreen programs? do you have some examples? i would test them first by setting your tv as the primary monitor thru the desktop properties screen.
  13. wheres no option for there is no answer. many people like a certain brand, so that is who they will vote for. and certain mobos are better than others. mine was top of the line a couple years ago but now there are tons better than it. and overclocking doesnt matter? so dont pick mobo manufacturers, pick actual mobos. if you are interested in buying a mobo then ask in the hardware forum.
  14. i have seen this problem numerous times with graphics cards, either loose or dead, as stated earlier. your motherboard does have onboard video so just pull your video card out for now. im not sure how ur mobo is setup for onboard... so check your manual and see if you need to set a jumper for it.
  15. well i guess thats why they're so good then thx for letting me know that.
  16. multiple ppl have mentioned ZZF. ive never had to use them b/c newegg's prices have usually beat them and if not, by no more than 5$. and frozencpu is definetly the place for water, i cant wait when i get the chance to make a 500$ order from them lol, i didnt realize they were in NY. they are actually 30min away from me! i wonder if they allow walk in orders... or just for me to pick up my order. even better, what if i worked there... now that would be a fun job
  17. well the raptor is sataI and is faster than basically every sataII drive but you forgot to say what the definition really is. its the max transfer rate that could be possible by that type of connection. its all about the type of connection, not the drive. just like that max speed of ide 66, 100, or 133. sataI max is 150. and sataII max is 300. but since drives only have an average transfer rate of ~65 ill say, it really doesnt matter.
  18. also look for the mobo's latest BIOS and check if that has an update for C2D.
  19. you sound like a pretty religious guy there andromeda. thats good at church i always hear stories of amazing things that happened where the doctors are like, WTF!!! but at least the person is perfectly healthy now.
  20. what do you mean by reliable? to me IE is still unreliable, ive had to use it on some comps in school and it bugs up alot. but IE7 is by far the best IE out that ive ever used, that still doesnt mean that its good tho... so plz i would just like to know why everyone likes it? or have you not tried FF/Opera?
  21. totally agree with RJM here. TigerDirect sucks, especially when screwing people out of money. ive had some friends really screwed. and ive used svc alot for cooling stuff. i have no water cooling right now so i havnt had to buy any, but maybe my next comp will have water
  22. its definetly worth it! but at that price range, so is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139001 i spent much time comparing these 2 psu's for my friends comp and in the end i picked the corsair. both are great psu's tho. also when it comes to psu's, i always say to future proof yourself. what if you want a good vid card or two later on? a quad proc? lots of hdds?
  23. i think we've had this same topic posted about a billion times... and i still vote opera.
  24. yes it is killer.
