  1. oh i worded that wrong. im idling below 30C at 3GHz. when i got to 3.6 it is almost 10C higher.. what are your idle/load temps. and have you tried going over 1.4v yet? also i'm on water, so that would make a difference.
  2. fans on the front and side should be intake, fans on the top and back should be exhaust. i have a side fan on my case which i really need since i have water cooling, there would be no other good way to keep my mobo cool. my Q6600 is at a crappy 3ghz(333x9), at least its only using 1.248v, i'm gunna see if i can get the voltage to be lower. so far i have hit 3.6ghz but it took like 1.425v, idling below 30C
  3. that will only work if you do a quick format
  4. you have alot of heat in your case with that hardware that you have, so definatly get an exhaust fan.
  5. im not too sure about the ram, it is good ram but there are many others that are better. otherwise that will be a great comp. and i have that same gfx card that you listed there. i would hold out on getting a new video card any time soon if you just got SLI. the 9800 series is rumored to be out some time around november and that would be a much better choice.
  6. what type of format did you do? quick or normal?
  7. omg im so sorry then. i didnt read before that you wanted to go SLI with 7600gt's. by all means then go sli, just one of those by themselves does suck as you have said. you may also want to check into selling ur current 7600gt for a fair price and upgrading to an 8800gts 320MB, just thnk about it. that way you wont have to worry about SLI compatibility issues and you will have a beast of a card. zxian-i cant wait to have over 1TB
  8. OCed
  9. lol, we're not trying to force you to not buy it. we can't stop you. as long as you have a good reason(which it sounds like you have one), then by all means go for it.
  10. lol, nice. so i'm assumming one of you reasons is to watch 10,000 porn vids at once on multiple 21" monitors and where is jcarle, he would suggest spending that extra money on hard drives, which would actually give you better performance than another card(unless you really have a good reason for it..?) zxian - the max ive OCed so far is 3.6GHz with a little over 1.4v, load was ~60C. but im not gunna leave it up there. right now im testing for 3Ghz at 1.248v which is less than stock voltage and load is just under 50C. so i may stay there, maybe i can get the voltage even lower.
  11. zxian-well just watch ur temps then. 60C is just too risky for me. what voltage are you using? 1.4v seems to be pretty favorable for nice OCs computerMan-zxian is right, 2 cards really has no purpose. maybe if you are a game developer but then u wouldnt even be getting those types of cards. or maybe if you have like 2x22" monitors..
  12. SLI is pointless in my opinion, especially when the vista drivers really suck for SLI. zxian, i finally decided to go raid0 and ur OC is not good, lol. i was confused and thought it was a 3.7, now that would be a nice OC on air for a Q6600. im at 3GHz for now and i cant wait to bring it up. with your nice heatsink you could definatly get some more out of it.
  13. good for you i still need to find time to OC mine, maybe this weekend..
  14. i honestly could care less about my boot time because as soon as i am in windows, my comp pwns.
  15. lol, water really is nice tho, soo much cooler. i did my first OC today to 3000MHz. prefectly stable so far. when i get more time i really need to crank up the fsb.
  16. i have like 5 bars with a quad core and 4gb of ram. it must be a driver problem for me. i also have most of my useless bios crap disabled.
  17. finally!
  18. i told you that all would go well as long as it is the same model you shouldnt have any problems, and you didnt
  19. You can see from SpeedFan that he's at about 50% load. thats good then. he's prolly using the dual core orthos or something. there is a quad core ready prime95 that i just tried out. my temps go from ~25C idle to ~35C load on 2 of my cores and from ~32C to ~42C load on the other 2 cores. so only a 10C increase with water, wow i'm loving it my load temps on water are the same as my idle temps with the intel stock heatsink.
  20. ya coretemp is what u want to use. are those your idle temps? if they are then you should seriously think about getting some better cooling. i cant imagine what the temps would be at load.
  21. oh dont worry, i will make it happen with my water
  22. looking good so how much do you love 4GB of ram now please get rid of that s***ty stock cooler for ur cpu!
  23. whats a long time? how many bars go across the screen?
  24. yep, and they can also be wrong, which can sucks. even tho it says one thing it may be another. my mushkin pc4000's SPD said that it was something slower also, but it really was not.
  25. ya i have plenty of fans so i guess that wouldm make sense. sell it for as much as you can.. what is the retail price for it right now?
