IF you decided that you really do want to upgrade than either get s939 or am2. the only thing with am2 is that u will also have to get some ddr2 but that stuff is extremely cheap now, a gig for under 100$. but u already have a nice comp so i dont really see the point..

mobo-great mobo so far for am2, thats until dfi's board comes out for psu get an enermax liberty or an ocz gamexstream for cpu, you may want to go with a 4200 just to save money and then overclock it, unless u want the multiplier sound card- what speakers do u have. i would suggest the auzentech xplosion or wait till september for the auzentech xpurity dvd is good unless u want a nec 3550, very cheap now hdd- get the 320gig perpendicular drives from seagate ram is good gpu-umm, why? just get a 7900gt/gtx, its pointless to get those cards, even if their silent. just get an arctic cooler 5 rev3, its pretty much silent too. sata 2 is nothing. just plug it in and its fast where u getting this from? ncix?

to fix that error all u need to do is get an updated driver. go to intel and get it.

hmm. do u have an adapter to hook it up to a desktop? if u can get it detected that way then u can format it.

i reinstall b/c everytime i want to reinstall, i add in the new update pack of hotfixes. so imaging would be useless for me.

very odd. afaik that drive is compatible with ur dell. if it doesnt show in the bios then nothing else u try will work. now what do u mean by the laptop needed a new drive? what happened to the old drive?

You're right ripken, it's not true at all. As I'm sure you know, defragmenting causes excessive disk usage by moving files to reorder them to eliminate free space gaps between files. If you do this every day, that's far more wear and tear on your computer's hard drive. Defragmenting once every month or two I can see being feasible. Daily is far too excessive and will cause more problems than what it's worth. I'm really surprised that people don't realize that defragging frequently (even daily) does more harm than good. tarun is right here. defragging does hurt ur hdd, thats why i dont do it much. havnt u guys heard the sounds your hdd makes when its defragging? doing that everyday definetly hurts the drive.

i dont think its all true. i just defragged my c: drive for the 1st time since ive installed windows 2 months ago. it took about 20 sec to defrag...
