I found this disk in our storage that is an Ultra ATA disk.. What does that mean?? I know what SATA is, but I've never heard about Ultra ata before.. Tried searching for it, but google wasn't my friend to day and didn't give me any answers..

I'we heard once that you can get old programs running wiht win XP. But I don't remember how it was done..! The thing is that I've got this old pc game (requirement is Win 95) and I was wondering if theres anyway I can get this running on my xp maschine...? BTW, the game is GEX2 3D. The first GEX game is also ment for 95, but that one works fine on my XP... Anyone got a suggestion? (If anyone gets what I'm trying to explain ) PS. I didn't know if I should've posted this in the Gaming forum, so sorry if it should've beent there..

We're having a discussion here.. We installed WUS again (now the client computers show! ) and we're approving updates. Now, we can't agree on what the Detect only settings means! Does it mean that it checks to see if the client has the update allready and install it if it hasn't? But if thats the case, what does the Install option mean? That it installs it no matter what?

I wached someone play this game last weekend and I'm thinking about buying it myself. I'm not sure yet thoug, so I wanted to ask around a bit.. Have any of u guys played this game? What did u think of it? Basically is it worth the price? B)

Ok, now we've tried everything described here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39828&st=10 Now it's clear that the computers we're testing with at least manages to connect to your WUS server. The problem now is that none of them is showing in the http://******/wusadm page. How the h*** are we supposed to get them to appear here? We've tried both with GPO settings and settings on the local pc. None of these have worked. What are we doing wrong? We can't find anything usefull on the net either.. We're kinda lost here.. Help? EDIT: We've tried everything exept reinstalling...

To reset the passwords of local users you can use this linux based program called X. Unfortunately I don't know where you can download it (it's a free program I'v used quite a few times at work), but this is a really handy program.. You boot from a cd or a floppy disk with the X program on and then u just follow the steps in the program..

Ok.. I'm going to buy a new bettery today.. My stupid computer didn't work all weekend.. (Didn't have a chance to buy one then either) If this doesn't help, I'm really near giving up..

We're trying to use WUS to, and we have the same problem. We can't get the computers to "attach" to WUS. We've tried following the Wus step by step guide that u can find on the M$ homepage, but it just won't work! We tried compuboy's suggestion, but this does not seem to work either. There are however, two computers that once was in contact with WUS, but we haven't done anything with these two. Why they're shown in the WUS computer managment screen, we don't know. (They don't even have the settings that is needed) Now we're considering to reinstall wus, but we're not shure how to uninstall it.. Is it just like removing any other program?

I think I'll try to buy a new battery if this problem continues. Today it wouldn't start again, but I had to go to work so I didn't have time to try anything to make it start. If it doesn't start when I get home I'll try the things u have suggested. I hate my pc just now.. @D.Celt Won't I get an error message or something if the battery was bad?

XBox gets a vote from me.. Personaly I love Fable, Baldurs gate 2, Halo 1 & 2 and DoA.. I would probably be just as happy if I had Playstation 2, but Xbox is good enough for me..

Maybe.. But that we'll never know.. No, seriously.. I'll remember all of these tips just in case I run into the problem again.. It's just so strange that this error with IE SP1 not wanting to download happens on all the pcs we've reinstalled this last month.. Maybe there's something more than just the pcs... *wondering* Guess I'll just have to wait and see if I ever find an explanation..

It's working on all the pc's exept for one now! But I suspect it's something seariously wrong with something else on that one... A hole bunch of other errors now.. And some more updates it won't take, but it doesn't matter.. The people that had it wants to buy a new one.. Thnx for the help!

It's acctually that easy? Good.. Incase I ever have to do it.. I think I'll keep checking every possibility besides BIOS updating/flashing before I do that.. But if I in the end chooses to try this, is there anything, besides backing up my stuff, I should do before starting?

I thought of looking for a BIOS update, but I'm not sure how I update the BIOS. (never done that before.. ) Can updating the BIOS scrue up my pc more? I always keep backups of things I need that I have on the pc, but I can't risk not having my pc availalble now... Tricky..

That's actually a good ide... I've got two RAM sticks, one original and one I put in myself.. Maybe one of them's sick.. If the pc starts freezing again I'll remember too try that..!

We tried downloading that.. On some of them it worked, but not on all.. And we can't see why..

Sometimes my pc is really strange. It won't start properly. It manages to get to the image where I can enter BIOS, but I can't enter BIOS. The last time I encountered this problem with my pc, I just restarted it a few times and it "got better" and worked fine. Since that I have reinstalled everything. No new hardware or anything. This weekend the s*** started acting weired again, and it didn't start no matter what. After a talk with a "super geek" I know, I removed the battery from my motherboard. When I put it back in the pc worked perfectly. Now I'm confused and without any info about what might have caused this thing. I have a quite s***y pc, a two year old Compaq, but haven't had any really big problems besides the boot thing. I'm running Windows XP pro, but I don't think it's any problems with the OS. @ admins: I didn't know where to post this.. Plz move it to a proper place if I'm way off.

On 4 very different computers we've had some irritating problems with a IE update. It's the Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 update. On each of the 4 computers the error: "Can not download the necessary components for the installation. Check that you are online, or try later" (This is translated from Norwegian. It might say something different in english etc.) We downloaded the setup from a site and it worked on 3 of the 4 computers. On the last one the same error appeared. Have anyone else encountered this problem? How did u solve it? I've only gotten the error with Windows 2000 pro.
