  1. All unofficial Iexpress fixes/updates have been fixed [7-2-2007 update]: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 HTH
  2. UPDATED · 7-2-2007 Updated: - MDIE6CU. - Power Pack 5.0. - Auto-Patcher June 2007. - VBVM60. - 98SE2ME. - HOSTS. - All Iexpress fixes/updates. HTH
  3. Does it mean that installer and uninstaller for GDI and EXPLORER and others have been fixed?Yes, I have fixed all updates that were locking up Windows whenever some1 was trying to install same update twice without rebooting after 1st install. And yes, I have also updated all unofficial files I've made with Iexpress, and they all say now something like "Unofficial ... whatever Fix" [instead of "Remove ..." or "Uninstall ..."] when you try to uninstall them from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. ... And no more spaces. That is the ones that support uninstall/restore. Also, all text files that pop up whenever one installs an update I've made, clearly state all necessary details about respective update/fix. HTH
  4. Any help regarding how to install DirectX 8.1 on Windows 95 would be greatly appreciated. Have you tried to extract the files from the EXE and install manually, eventually by right-clicking the INF files?I have not tried Directx 8.1 on 98 SE or ME. I'll try it sometimes soon, and I'll post here my findings. I don't have 95 or OSR2 installed anymore, so I can't test with these OSes. I have found those DX 8.1 links by accident 1 day, while looking for something else. HTH
  5. Thanks for your feedback. Those features require to install (1) fixed MS Paint executable and (2) MS Paint Graphic Filters package: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#PNT and is beyond the scope of 98SE2ME, which is only a 98 SE to ME upgrade package. 98SE2ME options 1 + 2 install 2 MS Paint filters from WinME CABs/CD-ROM, the only ones included in the Graphic Filters package mentioned above: MSJPEG32.DLL MSPCX32.DLL This is the list of all 98SE2ME installed files + and their locations: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#FME All other filters from the Graphic Filters package are from other packages/updates/(hot)fixes/SPs/etc. Besides, WinME MSPAINT.EXE is buggy, must be replaced with the fixed executable mentioned above: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#PNT HTH [Hope This Helps]
  6. Thanks a lot for your work. I have added your modded files to 98SE2ME options 1 + 2. This is how to install these modded files if one already installed 98SE2ME options 1 or 2 before [excerpt from UPDATES.TXT]: HTH
  7. These 2 WinME updates: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=323255 and: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811630 install fixed versions HTML Help files, but they are now obsolete. The newest versions of all HTML Help files are installed by this update [714 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/HHUPD.EXE found here: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#HHU As you can see at web page above, HHUPD.EXE installs also on Windows 98 (FE), 98 SP1, 98 SE + NT4 SP6a. All you need is MS IE 5.0 or newer already installed: http://www.mdgx.com/toy.htm#IEX HTH [Hope This Helps]

  11. Have you tried to ask the author of the 256 colors Explorer patch: http://www.dr-hoiby.com/TrayIconIn256Color/ He has already patched explorer.exe in quite a few languages. HTH [Hop This Helps]
  12. The modded NVidia drivers are available here: http://www.mdgx.com/drv.htm#3DFX respectively: * Tweaked Unofficial NVIDIA Display Driver 82.69 for Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME: http://www.mdgx.com/files/nv8269.php NV8269.EXE [14.5 MB, multilingual]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/NV8269.EXE Supports all PCI, AGP + PCIe GeForce + Quadro 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx + 8xxx series and most widescreen monitors resolutions + refresh rates. The proper forum to post your questions is this: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=97140 HTH
  13. Here is why this happens, and these are all possible solutions: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#PSBF HTH
  14. 98SE2ME installs REGSVR32.EXE 5.00.2195.6662 from Win2000 SP4: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downl...rvicepacks/sp4/ in %windir%\system . This is the *last* build known to work properly with all Win9x [95/98/ME] OSes. HTH
  15. That's because HWINFO is old, doesn't detect properly newer hardware devices.Try 1 of these free(ware) tools instead: - PCI List: http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/legacy.shtm - PCI Sniffer: http://www.miray.de/products/sat.pcisniffer.html HTH
  16. I don't think comcast "cuts out" Win98/ME users, I use 98SE to connect all the time, and never had problems.Maybe your other NIC is broken, or maybe you had a disk/file crash which may have corrupted the driver(s) file(s)? Or maybe you had a registry crash [in particular the portion which controls the NIC, LAN or DHCP]? Reinstalling the NIC drivers may fix your problem. HTH
  17. soporific + Fredledingue:Thanks a bunch for your feedback. 1. I'll revise the updates to remove the space in front of " Remove... whatever... Fix". I agree the Add/Remove Programs title should not have Remove or Uninstall in it. I also agree they should all start with "Unofficial" or "Microsoft" (which means "Official"). But please keep in mind that the length of the text that appears in the Add/Remove Programs box is limited to ~ 64 chars, anything beyond that will be outside the box [unreadable]. I'll make these changes to all updates when I have time. May take a while, there are a *lot* of them. 3. I agree that "Unofficial USER32.DLL + USER.EXE Fix" by itself doesn't say much, I'll add a couple more words to explain better the purpose of the update. 4. Because the Add/Remove Programs box length is limited to ~ 64 chars, I agree that "Fix" is better [shorter] than "Update" or "Patch". HTH
  18. UPDATED 6-20-2007 Updated: - Updated a bunch of files. ________________________________________________ Sorry, missed the WMP9URP Italian download, now says it expired. Could you re-upload, please? Thanks.
  19. Try this: 1. Install this Explorer fix: * Unofficial Windows 98 SE 256 Colors Icons Explorer EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1700 Fix: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EXPLOR98.TXT Direct download [171 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EXPLOR98.EXE Direct download [175 KB, Italian]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/ITEXPL98.EXE More info: http://www.dr-hoiby.com/TrayIconIn256Color/ This EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1700 installed also by Unofficial Windows 98 SE SP2: http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html + 98SE2ME: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#KRM9S Reboot. 2. Merge this REG file into your registry: 3. Log off and then back on.More info: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserve...f23d771033.mspx HTH
  20. UPDATED · 6-14-2007 Updated: - Updated a bunch of files. Please see top post for complete details: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 HTH
  21. In all their MDAC/MS Jet 4.0 INFs, M$ renames this file, because its name is LFN, and because INF installers [probably] do not support copy files function for LFN files [?]. Files copied from within INFs must be SFN (Short File Names). This file is found in all updates/patches as msjetol1.dll and is renamed as msjetoledb40.dll aftwer being copied to %windir%\system . HTH
  22. I guess NVidia rushed these drivers out the door [the problem is there may not be others, they stopped development for 9x OSes], without making sure compatibility with all API functions on all 98/ME OSes. Personal preference: I still like 82.69 better because they support more resolutions/frequencies and widescreen monitors.
  23. If your OS/apps/spyware/etc keeps checking your HDs/floppies/removable drives/etc, this may help: http://www.mdgx.com/newtip2.htm#ANNOY HTH
  24. Tested Files Checker 4.0 and runs without any errors on my PC. Keep up the good work. Best wishes.
  25. I have added *warnings* to these installers to prompt the user to reboot immediately after 1st install [and not try to reinstall until after reboot]. Also added ",,,4" in the INFs after file names, to copy files even if pre-existing versions are newer. Otherwise, if the user selects to *not* install files because they may already have newer versions from various other updates/patches [for example from 98SE2ME options 1, 2 + 3, which installs newer WinME files], Windows would lock up after reboot. [thank you soporific for bringing this to my attention] Text files below are very detailed, and they also pop up each time one runs these installers. So... here they are: * Unofficial Windows 98 SE 256 Colors Icons Explorer EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1700 Fix: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EXPLOR98.TXT Direct download [171 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EXPLOR98.EXE * Unofficial Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME Graphics Rendering Engine (GRE) Windows MetaFile (WMF) Security Vulnerability Fix (English): http://www.mdgx.com/files/918547.TXT - Windows ME Fix [399 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/ME918547.EXE - Windows 98 SE Fix [369 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/Q918547.EXE - Windows 98/98 SP1 Fix [369 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/KB918547.EXE * Unofficial Windows 98 SE Animated Cursor (.ANI) + Icon Handling USER32.DLL + USER.EXE 4.10.2233 Security Vulnerability Fix: http://www.mdgx.com/files/Q891711.TXT - USER32.DLL + USER.EXE Fix [418 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/Q891711.EXE Please test and let me know if install/uninstall ok now. More files to which I've added these changes are listed here [see "6-14-2007"]: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 HTH
