98MP10 = WMP10 XP + XP SP3 Killer Replacements
MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Hi MDGx... You say "Do NOT install 98MP10 IF already installed WMP9URP"... Could you quickly state the reason why it should not be done? Inquiring minds want to know ... Thanks in advance... Edit: Also... I can't seem to register WMPENCEN.DLL... and I get the following errors reported by Dependency Walker when examining it... Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module. Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found. Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. Is this normal? 1. erpdude8 [also a MSFN member] is the author of WMP9URP, he can better answer this question.In brief, there are files installed by WMP9URP which conflict with 98MP10. 2. I have removed WMPENCEN.DLL registration from 98MP10.INF. The error message you're getting is probably because WinXP/WMP10 have extra API functions Win98/WMP9 doesn't have. WMPENCEN.DLL works ok otherwise, as far as I can tell. Thanks for your feedback. -

MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Also which Wmpband.dll file should i delete the one in the Windows Media Player folder or the System folder.I feel as if i don't need both. I will have to test which files work from MP9URP9X + XP SP3, so I need some spare time... soon I hope.About removing DRM: I will add an INF file anybody can run from a simple batch file, to remove DRM files + reg entries [move them to a backup folder] and another INF to restore them, if any1 cares to do so. I will post here the updates when I have them. About WMPBAND.DLL: The 1 u need should be in "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player" . Delete the 1 in %windir%\SYSTEM . Thanks. -

I have only modded the banner for the Win98 SE 256 colors patched EXPLORER.EXE [installs from options 1 + 2].I have never modded WinME explorer.exe banner [which installs from option 3]. And I don't intend to, but if you have your own custom banner, please post here and I'll consider it. -
Take it easy, mate. What files are you looking to download? Please PM me with details.

MDGx replied to T.N.G.O.G.'s topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Everybody, especially spplus, Please get it right to avoid mistakes and complaints: 1. Always post appropriate link for specific language OS and/or alternative links for other languages if appropriate. 2. Always post full instructions + details about a link which installs a Service Pack or similar package, which makes important changes to the OS. Thanks for listening. HTH -

98SE2ME = Killer Replacements: ME -> 98 SE
MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Try this:1. Install 98SE2ME.EXE = run the installer but exit [do not select any option] at the options menu. 2. Go to the C:\9!M folder, open O2.BAT in Notepad and remark (comment out) these lines C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\WIN98SE.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\FONTS.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\SYSBCKUP.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\SYSTEM\VMM32.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\SYSTEM.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS.9ME C:\9!M\START /M /W RUNDLL32.EXE %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,DelNodeRunDLL32 %windir%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS.9MEby adding :: [a double colon followed by a space] in front of each one of them. 3. Run the 98SE2ME.PIF shortcut: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/#05 and select option 1 or 2. See if that error still happens. And please post here if it runs ok, so I can remove those lines. And many thanks for your appreciation. HTH -

[thank you Chozo4] P.S.: O2.BAT [which installs 98SE2ME options 1 + 2] actually re-installs automatically ADVAPI32.DLL 4.80.1675 from 98SE setup CD-ROM or from CABs [if on user's hard disk/USB stick/etc] into %winbootdir%\SYSTEM after reboot. MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Have you tried to (re-)install Maximus-Decim's NUSB [uSB 2.0 drivers] after 98SE2ME?Newest NUSB release is 3.3 [English]: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#NUS Might fix your problem. FYI: Current 98SE2ME release does not install NUSB files/INFs anymore, except for these 2 files: DISKTSD.VXD 4.90.3001 USBMPHLP.PDR 4.90.3000 If performing all of the above did not fix your problem: 1. Back up your entire C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder [which actually should be backed up by 98SE2ME options 1 + 2]. 2. Install 98SE2ME option 2 and make sure you select to back up your OS. 3. After reboot, test your sound cards. 4. If they don't work, restore your C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder. 5. Reboot, and test again. HTH -
