  1. Sorry about the confusion... I was absent from this forum for a while, so I am not up to date with the latest. But I've updated the 98/ME patches/fixes section [11-13-2009 = long list!]: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=46581 where you can read about what's new [+ details]. HTH
  2. ... And I thought you stopped developing the Power Pack.Looking forward to your new edition.
  3. Please let me know if there is a copy of WAN.TSP [37200 bytes] in C:\9!M [it should be, it is installed by 98SE2ME.EXE].When you 1st run 98SE2ME, even if you don't install any options, WAN.TSP should be copied into %windir%\SYSTEM from within 98SE2ME.BAT: ECHO A | IF EXIST %windir%\SYSTEM\WAN.TSP C:\9!M\ATTRIB.COM/B +A -H -R -S %windir%\SYSTEM\WAN.TSP>NUL IF EXIST C:\9!M\WAN.TSP COPY/Y/Z C:\9!M\WAN.TSP %windir%\SYSTEM>NUL When you install option 1 or 2, WAN.TSP is copied to the temp install folder [C:\9S2M] from C:\9!M, and to %windir%\SYSTEM [from O2.BAT and from 2G.INF], just to make sure. O2.BAT: IF EXIST C:\9!M\WAN.TSP COPY/Y/Z C:\9!M\WAN.TSP C:\9S2M\SYSTEM>NUL ECHO A | IF EXIST %windir%\SYSTEM\WAN.TSP C:\9!M\ATTRIB.COM/B +A -H -R -S %windir%\SYSTEM\WAN.TSP>NUL IF EXIST C:\9!M\WAN.TSP COPY/Y/Z C:\9!M\WAN.TSP %windir%\SYSTEM>NUL2G.INF: [s][INO] CopyFiles=WAN [WAN] WAN.TSP,,,4 [DestinationDirs] WAN=11[/s]And just to be sure, I uploaded 98SE2ME.EXE again... Please download it and try 1 more time [4.2 MB]: http://www.mdgx.com/4 Thanks for your time + concern. Best, MDGx Edit: Removed backup installation of WAN.TSP from 2G.INF, because WAN.TSP may be deleted from C:\9!M after being copied to %windir%\SYSTEM . [This is a limitation if INF files CopyFiles directive. ]
  4. 5. Hi every1, Krick [thank you kindly, sir ] sent me the links to a bunch of Sound Blaster install CD-ROMs [iSO format]... here they are: http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/ Direct links [expect large files > 200 MB each]: http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_16_Setup_CD_ISO_1713310318.rar http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_Live!_24-...01ML0000306.rar http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_Live!_Set..._1713331000.rar http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_Live!_Val..._1713330760.rar http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_Live!_Val...01ML0003017.rar http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_PCI512_Setup_..._1713330882.rar These are RAR archives = use 7-zip, WinRAR or your favorite (un)RAR tool: http://www.mdgx.com/toy.htm#ZIP to extract the ISO files, then use your favorite burning program to make CDs: http://www.mdgx.com/drv.htm#DTC or install for example Virtual Clone Drive (freeware): http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html to expand the ISOs as separate drive letters on your hard disk [virtual CDs/DVDs]. You can install from your HD much faster than from a CD/DVD drive. I've also uploaded these files at my site... * The ISO found here: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?p=171324#171324 Direct link [260 MB]: http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB_Live!Ware...D_ISO+update.7z This is 7z archive = use 7-zip [free GPL]: http://www.7-zip.org/ to extract the ISO. * this 1 previously @ MF [11 MB]: http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SB51_WDRV1_LB_5_12_01_202.exe * this 1 previously @ DriverGuide [2.4 MB]: http://www.mdgx.com/sbdrv/SoundBlaster51.zip * I've also added a link to this list of ISOs: http://www.filefront.com/user/BadBoyforum/ Enjoy.
  6. Great to be welcomed back... Thanks every1!Why 98SE2ME is now 4.2 MB instead of usual "self" [2.8 MB]: I replaced the 3 Vpatch EXEs (PATMM.EXE, PATSH.EXE + PATWV.EXE) [small] for SHELL32.DLL, WEBVW.DLL + MOVIEMK.EXE [option 3] with the actual files [much larger]. The new added files [like irprops.cpl + irftp.exe] do not usually add to the size of the installer if they are on the WinME setup CD-ROM. Only files newer/patched/modified and not found on the setup CD-ROMs are actually added to 98SE2ME.EXE . Best, MDGx PS: I've also answered your PM. HTH
  7. You're welcome. Pls don't hesitate to e-mail me [better than PM] if you need file hosting. I'd be happy to oblige. HTH
  8. Techw0rm's SRC Tools [last known versions] also here [9 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/SRCTOOLS.ZIP I use xclone for DOS [works from within a DOS box/window] (freeware): http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/simtelnet/win95/diskutl/xclone13.zip Supports LFNs from within Windows. Xclone can be used from native DOS [outside Windows] with DOSLfn [free, open source] loaded in memory: http://adoxa.110mb.com/doslfn/ which enables LFNs support. Xclone can copy entire disks/partitions to the destination of your choice. Errorlevel is minimum by default, does not stop when it encounters the "unmovable" swap file or similar "locked" files. HTH
  9. @soporific: I have uploaded your files here: http://www.mdgx.com/ubcd/list.php Pls use as mirror for your downloads. Files uploading now... pls allow a few minutes until upload completes. This topic also linked here: http://www.mdgx.com/ubcd98.htm HTH
  10. 11-12-2009 Added... under "Enhancements, Replacements + Transformation Packs"... * userenv.dll for 9x/ME by M()zart: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=138911 * GDI Heap Extender for 98/98 SE/ME by Tihiy: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=136171 Updated... * Driverpacks + UBCD98 by soporific: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=98369 Couple of minor updates. UPDATED · 11-12-2009 Please see the 1st post for most recent 98SE2ME update. __________________________________ 11-12-2009 * Options 1 + 2: replaced newer WinME WAN.TSP [%windir%\SYSTEM] from WinME setup CD-ROM with older Win98 SE WAN.TSP [%windir%\SYSTEM] from Win98 SE setup CD-ROM to fix nasty (USB) xDSL modems (RAS)PPPoE bug. [thank you Geo] Breakthrough: 98SE2ME works now properly with xDSL and RASPPPoE! * Options 1 + 2: added newer WinME IRPROPS.CPL + IRFTP.EXE 4.90.3000 [%windir%\SYSTEM]. [thank you PROBLEMCHYLD] Enjoy. PS: And thanks again to every1 for the kind welcome...
  12. Sorry, I've been absent from this forum for a long while. But I'm back now. @Deporange: Your question probably referred to the old AHCI exe installer I've created a while back. That particular package did not work very well, and was restricted to only a few intel chipsets. But another member [ilko_t] here at MSFN found a better way to package all drivers for [most] all intel chipsets currently supported, so I posted his exe at my site. I am not the author. I only posted the links. http://www.mdgx.com/xp.htm#PSP3 * Unofficial Windows XP Intel SATA AHCI/Hot-Plug/RAID Driver 32-bit for Intel 8xx/9xx/Pxx/Xxx Motherboard Chipsets with built-in ICHx Controllers: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=109450&st=223 Direct download [524 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/intelahci.exe More info: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=121503&st=3 How to install this Driver: 1. Run intelahci.exe (see above). 2. Reboot. 3. Press Del, Esc, F1, F2, F3, F4 or F8 (see your motherboard documentation for specific key) to enter BIOS setup. 4. Change settings below (if any) to match the values inside square brackets: SATA RAID/AHCI Mode [AHCI] SATA Port 0-3 Native Mode [Enabled] 5. Reboot again to Windows. 6. Windows should have activated your motherboard built-in Intel ICHx controller and found all your installed SATA hard + optical disks. 7. Open Control Panel. 8. Run "System Properties". 9. Click the "Hardware" tab. 10. Click "Device Manager". 11. Double-click "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers". You should see a new item: "Intel ICHx SATA AHCI Controller". This Driver works with ALL Intel 8xx/9xx/Pxx/Xxx x86 motherboard chipsets with built-in Intel I/O Controller Hubs x (ICHx) chipsets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I/O_Controller_Hub AHCI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Host_Controller_InterfaceIn my experience, this newer driver package works 100%, no matter if you install WinXP 1st or if you enable the BIOS AHCI settings 1st. And in most cases you don't even need to reboot. Try to install this driver package on a "fresh"/"clean" [from scratch] XP installation. Also, if you need to install the intel Infinst package, install this unofficial AHCI package first. HTH
  13. Thanks for your kind welcome. This is the only update I have for now, more later... Good to see you guys! HTH ________________________ PROBLEMCHYLD: 98SE2ME doesn't install vxdmon.vxd . It's part of System Restore, something 98SE2ME doesn't do. All other requests have been fulfilled. Hope u like. HTH
  14. UPDATED · 11-10-2009 __________________________________ 11-10-2009 * Options 1 + 2: replaced older GDI32.DLL + GDI.EXE 4.90.3002 [from unofficial WinME Q912919 hotfix] with newer GDI32.DLL + GDI.EXE 4.90.3003 from unofficial WinME Q918547 MS06-026 security fix: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#MEU [%windir%\SYSTEM]. To fix power management errors (if any) reset your power configuration: Start button -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Power Schemes tab -> make sure desired power scheme already selected -> click Apply/OK -> restart Windows. [thank you PROBLEMCHYLD] * Options 1 + 2: replaced older modded WinME CDFS.VXD 4.90.3002 [from Q274175 hotfix] with newer CDFS.VXD 4.90.3002 patched with RLoew > 2 GB DVD size patch (freeware): http://rloew1.no-ip.com/prerel.htm [%windir%\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS]. [thank you RLoew!] * Options 1 + 2: added fixed WinME WINFILE.EXE 4.90.3001 (modded with 256 color bitmaps + multi-res icon): http://www.mdgx.com/files/winfile.php [%windir%] + GLOSSARY.HLP from WinNT4 [%windir%\HELP]. * Options 1 + 2: added default DESKTOP.INI [%windir%\FONTS] from WinME setup CD-ROM + changed %windir%\FONTS folder attributes to System (S) to fix new fonts install bug. [not tested!] * Options 1 + 2: forced install of newer WinME CVT.EXE [%windir% + %windir%\COMMAND], SMARTDRV.EXE [%windir% + %windir%\COMMAND] + WRITE.EXE [%windir%], even if older Win98 SE versions not present. [thank you PROBLEMCHYLD] * Options 1, 2 + 6: older WinME PINBALL.EXE 4.90.3000 [C:\Program Files\Pinball] does not overwrite newer WinXP PINBALL.EXE 5.1.2600.2180 anymore if newer one already installed. [thank you PROBLEMCHYLD] * Options 1 + 2: removed "Send To" registry fix because it does not work with Win98 SE SHELL32.DLL. [thank you Joseph_sw!] To uninstall Copy To/Move To/Send To registry fix completely: - Start button -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> select "98SE2ME Right-click: Remove Copy To/Move To/Send To" -> click Add/Remove button. OR: - Run this command from a DOS box or from a DOS style BATch file and then reboot: RUNDLL32 ADVPACK.DLL,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\BSRESTOR.INF,CMS Option 3 (which installs WinME SHELL32.DLL) installs "Send To" registry fix. Enjoy.
  15. Caution...In some cases one may need to delete (or rename their INF extension) the Intel INF files (if any) from C:\Windows\INF [or whereever you have WinXP installed, generic is %windir%\INF], respectively in my case ICH9CORE.INF + ICH9SMB.INF . Reboot after the rename/delete, and then redetect your ICH9 devices [iSATA_XP.EXE (see URL above) should be already installed and all other necessary steps already performed]. These are installed by Intel INF Installer chipset utility: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/ Downloads are here [pertaining to WinXP]: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_res...4&submit=Go! Otherwise I was getting a conflict message in Device Manager, something like this: "this device has already another driver assigned" HTH
  16. If you decide to post your batch re-write [tested/working model], please let me know, and I'll add it to my web site.Thanks. Keep up the good work...
  17. Where did you get WMVCORE.DLL 9.0.0.4503 + DRMCLIEN.DLL 9.0.0.4503 from? Can you please post here the links to MS hotfixes or PM me with the files [so I can add them to 98MP10]? Thanks a lot for your time. Best wishes.
  18. I have two partitions on a single hard drive. Will it work?also does SCANDSKW.EXE 4.90.3000 still produce a "not enough memory error" while attempting to scan a partition larger than 128 Gb? (while dos ran SCANDISK.EXE works normaly) And Again: Thanks for keeping these updates available! 1. DrvSpace from WinME doesn't work with FAT32 drives/partitions (they did that on purpose so people stop using it).DrvSpace from Win95/98/Plus!95 should work with FAT32 drives/partitions, no matter how many you have, just make sure you have enough room for compressed volumes. These tools see each partition as an individual drive [if separate letter assigned to each], same as ScanDskw/ScanDisk. I have only briefly used DrvSpace way back in my Win95 days when HDs were small, well under 1 GB. Never tested it with large HDs. IMHO: Nowadays disk space is not an issue anymore, any1 can get huge hard disks really cheap, I strongly recommend everybody should stop using DrvSpace [Win9x/ME users] or DblSpace [MS-DOS 6 users]. 2. ScanDskw [from WinME] is the same [has same limitations], unless some1 can fix it. Or if there is already a fix, please send it to me, so I can update the file. Thanks. HTH
  19. Most XP files compatible with 98/98SE/ME are installed by 98MP10: http://www.mdgx.com/wmp.htm#98MP10 Others are scattered around these pages [called "Unofficial Fixes"], each has a specific purpose: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm http://www.mdgx.com/dx.htm http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htm http://www.mdgx.com/wmp.htm Some of us here at MSFN are usually on the lookout for such files, and if we do find any, we test them and then post here the ones that work properly with 95/98/ME. This page should give you some info on such files: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=46581 HTH
  20. Thanks for the bug report.I don't have Win98/98SE/ME installed on my PC presently, so I can't test, but I plan on doing this in the near future. I'll post here if I have any results. Anyone tested this?
  21. Wow... that's a great guide. Thanks. Sorry, I couldn't resist, I have something similar at my site: http://www.mdgx.com/newtip12.htm#REGBAK HTH
  22. I have created an automated installer [using MS Iexpress], which copies all files to proper locations and merges the REG file [32-bit]: http://www.mdgx.com/xp.htm#PSP3 Look for "Unofficial Windows XP Intel SATA AHCI/Hot-Plug/RAID Driver for Intel P35 Motherboard Chipsets with built-in ICH9 Controllers". All you need to do after installing the driver is enable the BIOS settings and the "PCI Device" after reboot. Comes with complete instructions. P.S.: Seems to work great on my Gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo. HTH
  23. IMHO This list of all KernelEx compatible apps/games/etc should be linked in the 1st post of the main topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=130936 Also, both this new topic and the old one should be [eventually merged and] organized as a nice list. Any volunteers? Thanks for your time.
