  1. You should check 'Disable taskbar translucency' in SIB properties.
  2. Nope. Note that right end on the taskbar brings to desktop (and peeks on it), as well as right-click -> Show Desktop.
  3. I'll provide it later since it will be very requested. Please let's not make a gazillion of posts about where to get it.
  4. Version 2.1RC1 http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupRC.exe New: - Option to show taskbar on the Start Screen. When enabled, taskbar is available on the Start Screen. It's also recolored to match Metro color. Supports auto-hide and secondary taskbars. Hot corners which are overlapped by taskbar on Start Screen behave like configured to behave on desktop. - "Pin to Start menu" is available in all programs shell context menus, not just in File Explorer - Excluded shortcuts for system shortcuts which are available on the right start menu pane (Run, Control Panel, etc) from start menu MFU program list - Multiple activations of the same license key is possible on same Windows installation but different hardware (to handle VMWare Fusion / Parallels Desktop) If you want to downgrade from this release, please uninstall it first. IMPORTANT I've received a request from Microsoft to remove start button orbs which contain Windows logo. This means Version 2.1 release must have all different orbs. I'm looking for a good designer to create a good-looking replacement start button picture.
  5. If Windows 8.1 comes with start menu, I would be glad. Too bad it won't happen, even if there is a huge motion for it inside Microsoft. One member of Windows team told me - "I think your app serves a need that we’re not serving right now." Let's wait for 8.1 release and I hope it won't feel so rushed, despite very short development time. Let's hope we will have StartIsBack.Next by then. 2.1RC1 should come next week with some new UI goodie and I hope some would like it.
  6. I'm sorry, but i don't understand your issue. Can you describe your scenario so someone could try to reproduce it? It could be some software conflict. Which satisfying answer do you expect?
  7. I read all posts and consider any feedback. No timeline for those features though.
  8. That's because they are. Furthermore, for example, unchecking 'Store recently opened programs' in Jump List properties window also deletes Run and Open/Save dialogs history. That does not make much sense, but that's how its done in Windows 7/8. It's better not to touch those options and just set '0' to to recent program count in SIB options.
  9. Go to Advanced - check off Store and display recently opened programs. Recently used program list is not just-used program list, it's the list sorted by internal usage rating which Windows calculates, which includes last launch time, lauch count, switching to the program count, etc.
  10. Like you do in Windows 7.Right-click 'All programs' button - Open - create and edit subfolders there. There's also system shortcuts available if you right-click 'All programs' button - Open for all users. You shouldn't touch Desktop, PC settings and Store shortcuts there.
  11. Don't expect any news about Windows 8.1 until at least public preview of it is available.
  12. Ok. Sorry for the confusion. Don't see why should anyone care, though.
  13. Thanks for TEAM CRUDE was added by me since 2.0. Sorry if it confuses anyone; they're crackers but deserve a thanks for their hard work.
  14. It seems you need to increase margins for the programs pane style if you're making a custom skin. (I'm not sure if it is possible in WSB) Also you're not showing any StartIsBack screenshots.
  15. Via drag-and-drop'ing folder to Start button, like in Windows 8.As for 'Windows Blue' - nothing to say right now, working hard for the future. Let's sort out the XP folder sorting feature - should it be items before folders in main tree or folders before items? I guess it should be folders before items; items before folders were on XP were like 'pin area' which is redundant in 7 menu.
  16. I think you should e-mail me and we discuss this problem privately; please provide screenshots.
  17. I know; that's a mess.
  18. This problem is kind of random since sometimes Windows 7/8 loses folder update notifications. That's right, but subfolders of folders are, like in XP. Although still not 100% like it. Not sure if items should go after folders in main tree. What's the use for it? There is some. Maybe. For now, you can launch StartIsBackCfg.exe /appearance.
  19. Maybe just check and reset this attibute from windows with Get/SetWindowCompositionAttribute? Or make DWM ignore it.
  20. There is demand for this scenario, so I should fix it in the next version. Maybe just make VM use free.
  21. You're asking for the third time instead of asking me directly. It's not updated since no one sent me updated file.
  22. I've already told everything - StartIsBack won't work on Blue as is due to all start menu code removed. I don't want to leave users in the dark so I hope there will be a solution.
  23. It's opt-out like most software is. By not 'phoning home' I mean (and I believe it's common term) that software does not report any data about computer / user. And it doesn't; it only calls server with version of software to query if there's a new version.
  24. Sometime or never. Writing a new start menu from scratch will take a long time.
  25. Unfortunately, transparency & animation does not work well with Windows 8. This may or may not be fixed in the future.
