  1. Like you do in Windows 7.Right-click 'All programs' button - Open - create and edit subfolders there. There's also system shortcuts available if you right-click 'All programs' button - Open for all users. You shouldn't touch Desktop, PC settings and Store shortcuts there.
  2. Don't expect any news about Windows 8.1 until at least public preview of it is available.
  3. Ok. Sorry for the confusion. Don't see why should anyone care, though.
  4. Thanks for TEAM CRUDE was added by me since 2.0. Sorry if it confuses anyone; they're crackers but deserve a thanks for their hard work.
  5. It seems you need to increase margins for the programs pane style if you're making a custom skin. (I'm not sure if it is possible in WSB) Also you're not showing any StartIsBack screenshots.
  6. Via drag-and-drop'ing folder to Start button, like in Windows 8.As for 'Windows Blue' - nothing to say right now, working hard for the future. Let's sort out the XP folder sorting feature - should it be items before folders in main tree or folders before items? I guess it should be folders before items; items before folders were on XP were like 'pin area' which is redundant in 7 menu.
  7. I think you should e-mail me and we discuss this problem privately; please provide screenshots.
  8. I know; that's a mess.
  9. This problem is kind of random since sometimes Windows 7/8 loses folder update notifications. That's right, but subfolders of folders are, like in XP. Although still not 100% like it. Not sure if items should go after folders in main tree. What's the use for it? There is some. Maybe. For now, you can launch StartIsBackCfg.exe /appearance.
  10. Maybe just check and reset this attibute from windows with Get/SetWindowCompositionAttribute? Or make DWM ignore it.
  11. There is demand for this scenario, so I should fix it in the next version. Maybe just make VM use free.
  12. You're asking for the third time instead of asking me directly. It's not updated since no one sent me updated file.
  13. I've already told everything - StartIsBack won't work on Blue as is due to all start menu code removed. I don't want to leave users in the dark so I hope there will be a solution.
  14. It's opt-out like most software is. By not 'phoning home' I mean (and I believe it's common term) that software does not report any data about computer / user. And it doesn't; it only calls server with version of software to query if there's a new version.
  15. Sometime or never. Writing a new start menu from scratch will take a long time.
  16. Unfortunately, transparency & animation does not work well with Windows 8. This may or may not be fixed in the future.
  17. Version 2.1 RC0 http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupRC.exe New: - Configurator fully supports high DPI modes / RTL languages - Folders are sorted before items in All Programs XP style program subfolders - Desktop toast is shown when new version is available Fixed: - Fixed 'Rename Start screen into Apps screen' feature breaking desktop app toast notifications - Fixed 'When I close modern app - Return to last environment' feature not working as expected in 2.0.2 Please test 'Start screen to Apps screen' feature in this build.
  18. Explorer, msstyles, registry - all of them.
  19. This is a definitely sad news. StartIsBack as is won't work on Windows Blue, due to Start Menu implementation removed from it - almost completely.
  20. There's a regression in 2.0.2 in this matter. It will be fixed in the next version.
  21. I don't think it's StartIsBack fault. Dynamic themes seems buggy in Windows 8 by themselves.
  22. Where this idea came to life and why it's useful?
  23. By the way, toasts seems like a nice way to notify about new version of StartIsBack without going to properties. I think I'll use toasts as an additional way of notifying about new SIB versions with v2.1.
  24. And I did. Unfortunately, this is due to the way 'Rename Start to Apps" is implemented - all desktop apps are isolated from Modern UI environment. I'll try to resolve this in the future version. Sorry for the trouble!
  25. You can export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\StartIsBack registry keys.Version 2.0.2 is out http://www.startisback.com/#download-tab - Improved compatibility with non-fullscreen modern apps (read ModernMix) - Shortcuts for games are no longer created in Games start menu subfolder. Games can be searched from Start menu search - Fix: Start Screen shortcut was removed by some cleaners
