  1. /elevated /silent
  2. Same switches are working:/silent for user install /elevated /silent for machine install You need to run explorer.exe after silent installation.
  3. I've explored this and this happens only when UAC is totally off (EnableLUA = 0) or you're in unrestricted admin mode. In this mode Modern apps don't work so Start Apps folder is not needed. Or not? Please explain your UAC settings (and other settings knowing you're big registry tinkerer).
  4. Tell me the following:- What install type are you using (per user or per pc) - What setting 'Start Apps' is (configuration - Start Menu - Start Apps) - Does searching for Weather (for example) find modern app - You can also check if StartIsBack32.dll/StartIsBack64.dll have version 2.0.0.3.
  5. Excuse me, but such folder ('Start Apps') is already created by default in 2.0.
  6. StartIsBack 2.0RC3 http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupRC.exe This is the last RC. If no important bugs arise, that will be Release version. Just a few translations missing. What's new: - StartIsBack is now configurable by group policy. It was already 100% compatible with Windows 7 policy but now all StartIsBack options are fully configurable / restrictable with group policy. Download group policy template: http://www.startisback.com/GroupPolicy.zip - It also has a setting to enable StartIsBack in Safe Mode (SOFTWARE\StartIsBack\"EnableInSafeMode"=1) - You can activate StartIsBack license online automatically from command line: StartIsBackCfg.exe /activate [/elevated] YOUR-LICENSE-KEY-NUMBER I should write a Deployment Guide soon. That aside, release contains few minor fixes and improvements. Just a few small steps left to 2.0 release.
  7. You can hide Start button, pin shortcut to Start screen to the taskbar and enable bottom-left screen corner. That will be close enough. Just find a smaller button. Maybe I should include a smaller button.
  8. Version 2.0 Release Candidate 2 http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupRC.exe Since 2.0 is a big release, let's take time and polish 2.0 further. There will be 2.0RC3. New: - Changed Mod+Win 'Change Windows key mode' function to be less confusing. It no longer fires Start Menu / Start screen directly; to provide visual feedback, it flashes Start screen / Desktop thumbnail in bottom-left corner to reflect changed Windows key mode. - Improved 'Activate by Web browser' experience - New program folder highlighting in All Programs XP style Fixed: - Fixed Appearance styles/orbs list overflow issues - Minor fixes
  9. I'm not sure, the color of the flag does not fit for many taskbar/window colors.
  10. There will be a way to enable SIB in Safe Mode. That's intended so far but will be fixed.
  11. Version 2.0 Release Candidate http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupRC.exe NOTE: if you update from 2.0 beta, Start Apps pinned to Start menu will turn into pumpkin dummy shortcuts. You have to un-pin and pin them again. Do not downgrade to 2.0 beta. This release is (should be) awesome. New skin and orb are the results of hard work of PainteR. Appearance screen got pretty makeover. New: - New Skin - New Start Orb - Revamped Appearance config screen - Alternate start menu skins and high contrast themes use different flyout menu style - Option to disable taskbar translucency works for secondary taskbars - Option to disable StartIsBack for current user - Option to hide Start button - Some useful Windows settings in Advanced section - StartIsBack is disabled in Safe Mode Fixes: - Start Apps folder slowing down All Programs - Start Apps folder not refreshing after app install / remove - Start Apps folder not displaying icons in high DPI - Start Apps folder not displaying some apps - Incorrect orb hover animation alpha-blending P.S. Translators will receive translation text later. This release is functionally complete; Some improvements under the hood are planned for 2.0 release.
  12. Didn't receive PMs from you.
  13. Well, dwmcore still contains everything for Flip3D and blur, it's just a matter of a code removed. If you can bring it back, that would rock.
  14. Run the attached file to uninstall StartIsBack installed per-user.startisback_removehkcu.reg
  15. Why you can't uninstall it? Reinstall and uninstall again; tell me if it won't help.
  16. Does setting 'Start Menu - Start Apps - Don't display this item' or using 1.3.3 fixes the problem? Why no?
  17. How noticeable is the delay? How much 'Metro' apps do you have installed? How much desktop apps?
  18. Seems that I didn't.
  19. 2.0 alphas could do it, but there's too much work to make this work decent. RetroUI does not do it even half-decently. Maybe SIB 3.0 could do it.
  20. But 2.0 already has the 'All Programs' expandable flyout menu.
  21. You don't need to reinstall when upgrading StartIsBack. If you want to downgrade 2.0 to 1.3.3, you should uninstall 2.0 first. It's not possible to run both side-by-side.
  22. It's funny to notice that StartIsBack 2.0 new features quickly became Start8 requested features: When I close modern app - Return to last used Environment Windows XP style All Programs menu But we know that 2.0 Beta 0 had them first
  23. Yes, translation is turned off in settings by design, to not confuse users with half-translated UI.
  24. Published full changelog for 2.0beta1 in the second post.
  25. Likely because StartIsBack uses DWM composited start menu and Start8 uses standard (layered) window. You can complain to Startdock, although they're likely to support blur with their WindowBlinds, not this tool.
