  1. The right-click bottom-left menu can be assigned to Start button since v1.2. I did not reproduce Outlook issue and there was no additional fixes for it.
  2. A note about 2.0 philosophy. As you should know, StartIsBack is not like others menu replacement programs. StartIsBack offers experience which is as close as possible to default Windows 7 one. Yet 2.0 provides a lot of ways to configure Windows experience. By default, the most non-breaking and non-confusing options are provided. There could be too many options; some were shaved by Occam's razor already. I need your feedback about wording and whole options overall. Interesting and unique possibilities with 2.0: - Launch Modern apps within Start menu. By default, they are displayed in All Programs 'Start Apps' folder (you can rename it). They're not visible in recently used list by default. - Less Start Screen in-your-face. You can configure Desktop to appear when your modern app closes (crashes, snapped) or when you click in bottom-left corner. By default, desktop will show if you used it last. - Disable Windows hotkey (may appeal to gamers). - Use Windows XP style multi-column All Programs flyout (may appeal to xpclient). - Make Ctrl-Win change Windows key mode so you can change swtiching models (Start screen / Start menu) at the press of a key. I'm open to your feedback. Visual improvements will come in next version(s) so don't whine yet.
  3. StartIsBack 2.0 BETA 1 "THE ONE TO RULE THEM ALL" http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBack_setupBETA.exe NOTE: if you've used beta 0, it's recommended to uninstall it with 'Remove settings and license data' checked. Version 2.0 beta 1 represents significant and massive release. It also contains a lot of fixes for longstanding issues. It should be stable but it's not yet visually or feature complete.
  4. Please write to support email (http://www.startisback.com/#support-tab) and i'll have you in mind when time to translate 2.0 comes.
  5. What app version? Do you still have Start button after uninstalling? Nothing is modified in the system permanently so it's unlikely StartIsBack fault.
  6. Glad to report that this issue is fixed in upcoming 2.0 beta 1. Not likely to make it into 2.0, but maybe later, maybe via some registry options. Not sure how this can work out.
  7. That's a funny glitch which is also in Windows 7. To fix this, go to Control Panel - Folder Options, choose 'Single-click to open an item' - 'Underline ... only when i point to them', then click Apply. Check 'Double-click to open an item' back after, if you're using double click.
  8. Trying to work this around via black list won't succeed, too many programs can fail when their state is externally modified. It would be better to trick DWM into thinking windows are layered while they aren't. I didn't find a way yet, but there should be.
  9. Okay, i'll look into this. But to solve this broken record issue right now, go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned and create there a folder named Games.{ED228FDF-9EA8-4870-83b1-96b02CFE0D52} That will add games into search.
  10. Disable start menu translucency in StartIsBack properties.Congrats on 0.2 release!
  11. Since 1.3.1 newly installed games create shortcuts in Games start menu subfolder so it's searched like in Windows 7. If you don't have some shortcuts there, create them.
  12. 'Clear recent items list' is there for me.
  13. Well, giving more problems to user is a bad option. Although I don't understand yet why startscreen.exe is flagged, it's totally one-line app without encryption / network / whatever algorithms. Maybe because it uses DeleteFile API call, lol. Edit: it flags startscreen.exe malware because of icons in it. That's rude discrimination.
  14. Thank you Gen:Variant.Kazy? What the insane stuff again. It's clear, of course. I'll resolve this issue in next version.
  15. Yes, it will be fixed before 2.0 release. You can check how All Programs flyout (XP style) displays with high contrast mode. Thanks for orb images, they're great! Beta testing is not for faint-hearted. Of course it's not default.
  16. Nope.
  17. Y A Y B E T A T E S T I N G StartIsBack 2.0 beta 0 Ladies and gentleman, please welcome StartIsBack 2.0 beta 0. Please keep in mind this is early beta. This version is not indended for everyday use and represents early 2.0 stage. What's new: More in the release notes. http://startisback.com/StartIsBack_20beta0.zip Don't flame the discussion too hard.
  18. Then it should work for non-transparent taskbar too.
  19. That's right, if blur is done correctly it will be applied to the start menu if additional translucency is disabled. Taskbar may need a bit of additional processing which i should offer in future version.
  20. You may try as well injecting into winlogon and catching dwm.exe starting, injecting your DLL by the way. Or hijack some system CLSIDs which dwm uses, but that won't be much better than system file patching. Also, when writing AppInit_DLL, make sure it does not link directly to user32.dll or libraries using it, otherwise it may fail to initialize (that was true in 2000 times).
  21. Totally awesome. I will help you with this if i can
  22. This is a bug in PaintShop Pro shell extension which manifests on Windows 7 as well. To fix this, delete [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Corel PaintShop Pro X5]
  23. That's obviously a touchpad driver issue which pushes start menu window on top. Perhaps i can work this around. That's the style for default search control. Something slows disk i/o down. Windows Defender is known to cause big slowdowns.
  24. I hope you guys are not tired of dotdot releases. 1.3.3 is up with DEP fix, which was critical. Although nobody cared for 3 months
  25. SIB legit versions were downloaded about 100,000 times. That includes updates and of course only some fraction of users buys it.
