Ill post some stock ones when I can, not long done a reformat so aint got any benchmark programs installed. Currently on the reference AMD cooler as my bro had the Freezer64, as his came DOA. Dunno wether to get a XP120 or a Thermalchill micro cooler.

Have they discovered the black box?
-
Oh ok, cool. I read somewhere that only single sided sticks could, I wouldnt know im stuck on my 754 setup
-
Well, your going to have to settle with 2*1 GB modules if you want the ram to be very overclockable. because running all 4 dimms with memory means you can only run at 333mhz (PC2700) when using double sided sticks, or 400mhz @ 2T timing when using single sided dims. However there is much discussion about, as to the performance hit of 2T, alot seem to find once they get the HTT back up with tightish timings the 2T doesnt matter all that much after taking into consideration the extra memory you get. The Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX 2*1GB modules are good for the price over here in the uk, 2-3-3-6 timings.

yup it appears I have just started using thunderbird and RSS. Condolences go ut to you and the people of your country

I read about this in the news, and there seems to be alot of riots about it? But I dont understand, wasnt he killed in a helicopter crash? So how come there is violence about it?
-
Yes, that command is just for extraction. The problem was before that data2.cab wasnt extracted to the tempory file folder when the setup was run, to be able to get all the files. after running that command, then you need to record the setup Eh, nice find, before this I was using a AutoIT script for this.

a 6600GT wont play games that resolution, the 6600GT has a high core clock by only about 8 pipes and a 128bit memory bus which cripples bandwidth thus performance aswell. but I take it, you wont be playing games?
-
Ok, why doest he make these builds into installers? would use them else

Why is it on the whole of MSFN the only thing you care so much about is system resources and memory useage? Are you really that tight fisted that you have to rip **** out of Windows with nlite, and not install masses of software? Did you ever consider the fact, that people may have antivirus installed because PC illterate people share the same PC who cant be trusted to use thier noggins when downloading stuff from the net? Wow 27mb, whoopy do. ill chose my system functionality and overall experience over yours anyday.. even with your OS which has been trashed by a non microsoft supported nlite. Dont get me wrong, nlite is a great program for unattended installs, but ripping stuff out of windows is a bad idea - period. You cant rip alot out of Windows and preserve all functionality - FACT. One thing that I really have a gripe with in the IT industry are people who try to run software on components which are too slow to run it. Like the chumps who try to run things like BF2 on geforce4 cards. I mean seriously COMEON! They then have the cheek to run thier mouth at EA and dice because they havent supported ancient hardware.

the guide of "Using autoit for silent install"
Mekrel replied to master_mtz's topic in Application Installs
Thats an ok way of doing things , but I suggest learning AutoIT as its come in so much use for me, and not just for unattended installs. I wrote this, the other day: ; Delete Registry Key, to make Start Menu alphabetically sorted RegDelete("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder") If ProcessExists("firefox.exe") Then MsgBox(0, "CleanScript Notice", "Firefox.exe is running, closing this message will kill the process") ProcessClose("firefox.exe") Else MsgBox(48, "CleanScript Notice", "Firefox process not running", 5) EndIf ; Open Firefox's profiles.ini in read only mode $file = FileOpen(@AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles.ini", 0) ; Check the file is open and can be read If $file = -1 Then MsgBox(0, "Error", "Unable to open file.") Exit EndIf ; Read line 7 of that file, which will return the profile path we need. $line = FileReadLine($file, 7) ; Trim the string from the left $fetchedpath = StringTrimLeft($line, 14) ; Close the file FileClose($file) ; Remove Firefox cache DirRemove(@AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" & $fetchedpath & "\Cache", 1) DirRemove(@AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" & $fetchedpath & "\Cache.Trash", 1) ; Delete users temporary files FileDelete(@TempDir & "\*.*") DirRemove(@TempDir, 1) ; Delete Firefox form and browser history FileDelete(@AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" & $fetchedpath & "\history.dat") FileDelete(@AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" & $fetchedpath & "\formhistory.dat") ; Search for all "fixed" drives $var = DriveGetDrive( "fixed" ) If NOT @error Then For $i = 1 to $var[0] $String = $var[$i] $Disk = StringTrimRight($String, 1) RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c " & "Diskeeper " & $Disk & " /b") TrayTip("CleanScript message:", "" & $var[$i] & " Drive defragmented", 7, 1) Next EndIf ; Write command to shutdown system, using RunOnceEx RegWrite("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx", "TITLE", "REG_SZ", "Scheduled Shutdown") RegWrite("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\001", "1", "REG_SZ", "Shutdown -s -t 10 -c ""Shutting down after cleaning system"" /f") ; Reboot the machine #include <Process.au3> $rc = _RunDos("shutdown -r -t 05") Uses disk keeper to defrag my hard drives and cleans up my firefox browser and performs a boot optimisation, reboots and then shuts down the system. Good to use when I wanna go to bed, just run it and turn off my monitor and let the system handle itself. -
The monitor doesnt require SLI, but playing at that resolution and to obtainplayable frame rate does.
-
Dual slot means the cooler takes up one PCI slot as its so big. SLi isnt bullcrap either, there are no card VGA solutions out there which will un tre latest games at 1900 resolution and higher with all the eye candy and AA filtering. There are people who own dell/apple widescreen monitors and such that need SLi. Although SLi has been too bugy with its vsync, and running atl ower than the monitors native resolution and such. DFI board is good but it can be problematic, make sure you read up on it before you start building. Most cases needs 1 stick of memory in one of the dimms and to flash to one of the latest bios' although there are alot of bios' around becausea each type of RAM such as TCCD and BH-5 and the like have thier own bios to work best

Arctic Silver is considered the best for aircooling.

ThermalRight ALX800 (Socket A) or the ThermalRight SI-97 (Socket A)
-
Yes, they work in any Socket A motherboard.

Hi, the specs are quite nice and you get HDTV with it too which is a nice bonus. 550:1 contrast ratio which is nice for a monitor that size, how ever either im blind, or it doesnt list the viewing angle specs? Viewing angles are quite important, especially on this model as it doubles as a TV and people will be viewing it from other angles than straight on. Viwing angles on most LCD's are quite poor, and viewing angles seem to get worse as the response time gets faster. For instance the TN film panel used in alot of 8ms desktop LCD's - it sacrafices viewing angle for response time. It doesnt actually say what panel it uses either. all in all it looks pretty good, if you can find out those two pieces of information then it could help your dicision more. Not sure on the tv tuner question sorry. I know alot of people use a program called Dscaler though but I think this is just for image quality improvement.

SATA Raid - Matching Hard Drives
Mekrel replied to Spinman's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I appreciate that, but you learn something new everyday - theres no need to get angry because others have been misinformed, he happily said to correct him if he was wrong. He could have got his info from a site which was wrong, it happens and Ive been misinformed before from sites because you think people who put information on thier sites have actually researched it... which isnt always the case. My response to you was probably abit too heated, but this is a forum to learn and no one should attack each other. Im only a member on about 3 or so forums and MSFN is easiestly the place that I learn most about software. -
SATA Raid - Matching Hard Drives
Mekrel replied to Spinman's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Instead of being an arrogant id*** and saying dont argue with you. Wouldnt it have just surficed to point him to a source? Everyone is here to learn, so theres no need to be stuck up you own backside. You dont like it when Astalavista makes comments about you, do you? @Thread starter because the array is being written across both disks, its at least best to get the same speed drives in terms of spin speed as the RAId array will be affected by slower disk as its latency (the time the disk spins to the read/write head) will be higher. Average seek time and such shouldnt make much difference. However, with Raid0 (if thats what your intending on using) I would personally get the same drives as it offers no data security. Its not something I would risk unless your using your Raid0 as tempory - non important file storage. -
What I always do with overclocking is test how far each of the variables can go. For instance, dropping the multiplier once or twice from stock, then upping the FSB as high as possible (with the FSB of the ram at 1:1 - has to be on socket A for performance reasons). FSB speed is the biggest factor for overall system performance on socket A systems. Try and get this high as possible. Your ram can do 200 fsb stock settings but to go higher means more voltage and slacking of memory timings. After upping the FSB, at a certain level. Boot into windows and stress the CPU out with a program like prime95. Once you have found your highest FSB speed without raising the voltage to a dangerous level then start playing with the multiplier. The chip should reach its max way before the memory does though, just dont be affraid to loose lower multipliers than stock if you can get that FSB right up!. Also, the reason for it still being at 3200 speeds is because using a 11.5 multiplier would be above its default of 11. 99% is that your barton is locked. You can always try mods like the L2 mod http://www.geocities.com/trats102002/nf7sFsbsense.html To overclock a barton, you either have to have one before a certain week (forgot the exact week) as these were unlocked (can have a higher multiplier) or get a mobile which are also unlocked and run on lower voltage. Also the Abit NF7 or DFI Lanparty Ultra B as these were the best socket A clockers there was!

eh? No question about it, the AMD system would spank the intel because its only a 533 FSB chip running PC2100 memory and as such bandwidth is quite low on that system. It has no HT and will not multi task any better in reality. Still it has longish pipes so some apps may favour the intel chip. The AMD system which loves its bandwidth has just that, and if your using some nice ram with tightish timings then even better. Dont let the Ghz PR fool you, they mean nothing when comparing AMD and intel systems. In a recent thread at a hardware forum my Newcastle (single channel only core!) running at 2.75ghz beat a 4.0ghz (cant remember if it was a pressie or northwood) intel chip in SuperPI. However, SuperPI isnt the end all of performance and im sure the Intel chip which would have had HT would have ran 99% of encoding applications better and handled a multi tasking enviroment better than my A64.
-
Ah, glad you got it working, thats one thing I thought may have been the case as I know adobe to a pre-download installer and they also do the full installers just like DirectX setup. Good luck with the rest of your unattended installation
-
Your using RunOnceEx? That doesnt require start /wait command mate, as it will not run the next registry key untill the other has finished. You can force it by downloading SLEEP.exe and using it with the command Sleep.exe <seconds> this is for command file usage to pause execution of the rest of the command file - but I see no reason why it shouldnt work there. REG ADD %KEY%\015 /VE /D "Pausing execution of installers" /f REG ADD %KEY%\015 /V 1 /D "path\to\sleep.exe 30" /f Also, how are you installing acrobat reader? Shouldnt take that long. The long program to install on my machine is AVK antivirus but it does wait untill its finished before the rest.

Most cards come with SVideo as the quality of Svideo is very poor and is cheap to put on I presume. and nope, im not joking the FX5200 is the same as a Geforce4 MX440 basically. its just the weakest line of the FX series, so weak that it holds no performance gains.
-
Nope, its a very poor card. Its no more powerfull than a Geforce MX440.
