  1. Ahh i see, so basically keep same structure as whats in the application data profile Thanks mate, tested and it works . Ive managed to get my associations to work aswell, I was kindly helped my Yzwol (sp?) who supplied me with a cmd file to delete some registry keys after backing them up into .reg files. If I run that, then run your setup.cmd, html files do open with firefox and have the right icon. \o/
  2. im just unlucky Profile.ini does that have to inside with the rest of the profile. eg. Profile.ini is in the same folder as cookies.txt and bookmarks.html because in my Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ directory is it is there, outside the profile directory.
  3. As always i have a problem with the installer now ill explain in full detail, what I have done and whats happening Ok got the download, and placed my profile (which was a fresh profile using 1.0.1 in the first place) and placed the files in setup/profilel and setup/defaultsprofile. Now i winRared it up like needed and added the same comment from the archive simon has put up for download. REM Plugins and Searchplugins Setup XCOPY /Y /E /Q /H /R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Firefox\Setup\plugins" "%SHORTPF%\MOZILL~1\plugins" XCOPY /Y /E /Q /H /R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Firefox\Setup\searchplugins" "%SHORTPF%\MOZILL~1\searchplugins" Now this code actually makes a folder called "MOZILL~1" in my program files directory. Which also makes all the other associations off because they try to open with firefox.exe located in "MOZILL~1" which doesnt exist in that directory. Also: IF EXIST "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Firefox\Setup\Profile\*.*" XCOPY "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Firefox\Setup\Profile" "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox" /Y /E /Q /H /R Now this is saying, if files exist in the install directory (which they do), copy them to application data\mozilla\firefox, but when firefox gets installed it used a folder with a random name to store profiles. so this just makes all those files get copied to the root with the folder with the random name, when they should be inside? Man oh man i always get problems and no one else does :'( Nice work though Simonsays, always apprecitate your hard work and help!
  4. oops sorry Glad to hear it may be sorted, if it returns have you tried different PCI slots?
  5. Well the /regserver is deffinalt what you got to do, weird that t sometimes doesnt do it like i said, i can use both ways of using the destination, then Pushd'ing to the location and doing it.
  6. Ok well i will have an updated version aswell, whih should fix the problem once and for all What im gonna do is PUSHD to the directory and called Regserver there
  7. before you do that download memtest 86, that way you will eliminate the ram maybe being a problem aswell. No point sending mobo back, to get a new one for the ram to be at fault. Turn off auto shutdown to get a blue screen stop error. This will give you more info into whats causing it. If the blue screens are giving out random reasons, the that does point to RAM problems.
  8. Vmware is very easy, its like using a normal PC, it has a bios and everything. Its like a PC on a PC and very good for unattended testing except for device drivers as vmware uses "virtual devices" so your integrated drivers obviously wont be used.
  9. http://rapidshare.de/files/753101/MSAnti-Installer.exe.html All download locations updated, Now ive tested this fully in a unattended enviroment, a real live install and not VMware, and the installer works with no 101 error. Now the installer is set to install to default location i.e: %Program Files%\Microsoft Antispyware and thats where gcasDtServe is being registered, the only way I can think its not working for others if they change the install destination, but i cant see how they can without changing the .msi install command line to include a destination. Please give feed back, cant use .ini as the .exe which calls the msi is needed, which isnt extracted to the temp directory.
  10. Yeah I can see what you mean, i was just going from person experience. Running from CD meant 2 things for me: Getting rid of SFX which extracted to the hard disk - as this defeated the point of installing from CD This means converting most my installers to 7zip ones which extract to temp locations which will get cleared If you have download the installer i made from this post, then dont use it. I have an updated one im going to put up and edit the download links accordingly.
  11. eh? I didnt actually mean any offence at all. I actually answer alot of questions and help people, heck i even explained to a person how to use .REG files with picture guides when everybody else told him to search. I was merely suggesting that with 6 posts, you may not know how to run from CD yet. Ive only just converted to CD installs about 2 weeks ago, and because of that i added a link to help you read on how to do it, if you were interested. I honestly meant nothing bad by it Edit: Of course your post count doesnt always mean your level of capability, but i was just trying to be helpfull.
  12. nope as the $OEM$ folder doesnt get copied to the hard disk. it should reside in $OEM$\$1 and be called from %systemdrive%\cleanup.cmd as anything in $oem$\$1 gets copied to the system drive root, which is represented by %systemdrive%. You can of course call the cmd file from the CD, and save copying it to hard disk using OEM folders, no offence but with 6 posts your probably wont know how to do that. Installing apps and running commands from CD saves copying files to hard disk for a cleaner and faster (no time copying) install. http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/methods/runonceex_cd.htm Is actually very easy. You just create a new directory on the root of your CD and create CD.TXT. And add the code in that link to each .cmd file where you are using the %CDROM% variable.
  13. nope but you can simply delete it with as part of cleanup.cmd at the end of all the application setups. DEL /F "%UsersProfile%\Desktop\Microsoft AntiSpyware.lnk" btw install went fine last night
  14. hmm maybe they changed the icon in 1.01 cus it looks quite poor atm. lemme reshack it then
  15. i want this too so just searched and got this thread, any advances?
  16. Think i resolved this btw. Im currently making a bartPE disk to format my NTFS drives to do a proper clean install. Then that will be the best way to test before i update the installers.
  17. Oops i meant the firefox icon not the actual .sfx installer icon. Once firefox is installed and im using it, the icon looks very shabby around the edges.
  18. Astalavista why are you so bothered about seeing a CMD window poping up for like a milli secodn when CMDOW @ /HID is used??
  19. I thought the xcopy switches came after the destination? Probably dont matter being as you know what your doing Simon the Icon on my comp looks real poor how can i change the installer back to the original icon?
  20. nah problem came with normal install hangon lemme see if i can re create it
  21. When i install this, i get the cmd asking wether something is a file or terget directory?
  22. Ahh i can binary check the two sets of files and if they compare then i can delete
  23. There is still the hot-swap option. Moreover, re-thinking about it, I remembered recovering a BIOS flashed by a virus this way: 1) I went to a used PC shop and bought for about 2 Euros a defective motherboard they were throwing away that had the SAME type of Award BIOS chip 2) I exchanged the chips and tried booting with the floppy and flash program (and a correct bios image) 3) The boot block worked even if the motherboard whence the BIOS came was from another manufacturer, most probably bootblock is the same for all AWARD's of the same release, as the motherboard manufacturer just changes the BIOS code, leaving the bootblock untouched. jaclaz <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah but I was under the impression this was legacy hardware and the chances of him finding a board with the same Bios chip will be slimmer if that is the case
