  1. This download is no longer hosted by mytempdir. Is there an up-to-date download site available?
  2. There are usually four folderviews, with large icons, small icons, listing, and details - the latter shows file size and file date. My 'details' view has become invisible. Anyone know how I can restore this view?
  3. I would upgrade except that most upgrades nowadays won't install with Win98SE!
  4. I got an Adaptec CD recording package with my machine a few years back - it works but is very slow. Since then Adaptec have dealt with these packages under its new Roxio brand. I have tried to update the package and have downloaded updates but they refuse to install saying that no Roxio programmes have been detected (they won't - they were originally Adaptec!). I have contacted both Adaptec and Roxio separately about this problem but neither of them wants to know. Does anyone have a 'take' on this?
  5. http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar351.exe Yes, the above appears to be a free version and it works well but unlike NetZIP (my regular decompressor) it doesn't have drag-and-drop
  6. I should like to try this out it seems to be a RAR file which I don't have a handler for. Could it be done as a ZIP?
  7. This isn't much good without a WinME installation disc!
  8. Isn't this the Win98SE Unofficial Service Pack Forum anymore? It's a great forum and Gape has been totally brilliant (and I have made a donation in appreciation) but having posts to do with WindowsME and SE2ME modifications is distracting. Many of us are just interested in updating and optimising Win98SE, I suggest. I would suggest that these other things be dealt with in a separate forum.
  9. I use LimeWire PRO, I've not had any real problem with it. I use the free BearShare as a backup. What do members think about BearShare?
  10. Is there an all-in version 2.3 on the horizon by any chance?
  11. Trouble is, that would bloat things significantly. And it strays off the path that the Pack has taken until now (in only providing updates and tweaks and modest replacements like Notepad). Personally I do like the idea of having some kind of routine that would update WMP 9 to 10, but that's a whole other project, I reckon... I would prefer the service packs to stay in the same EXE formats as at present (Gape has done some good work) and without bloat from WMP, DirectX, and NET framework. There are already installers for them. However, cumulative IE6 updates and more IE tweaks wouldn't be a bad idea!
  12. I agree. Win98SE marks the end of the golden age because with WinME and the end of the very useful DOS function things started to go downhill. Can I remind members that they can show their appreciation of Gape's work by making a DONATION. If a proper commercial charge was made for Gape's SP it would cost plenty!
  13. The Internet Settings were okay, the ZA wasn't. Now it's all working okay again. Thanks, guys!
  14. My web animations have stopped animating. What's gone wrong?
  15. I hope not. Web Folders are a bloody unnecessary nuisance and it's taken me ages to get rid of them!
  16. If you try to reinstall it you are taken to a Microsoft page saying it is no longer supported and suggesting you do Sun Java instead from now on
  17. Microsoft will no longer install MSVM on my machine, it seems to have been abandoned. I have had to install Sun Java instead.
  18. Gape, pleeeeez stay with Win98SE!!! Many of us believe that WinME was where the rot set in and we don't ever intend to use it!!
  19. "Unofficial" Windows98SE SP2 RC1 Gape's Info Page
  20. What is projected for version 2.1?
  21. Yes, aspartame is a deadly poison. My former sister-in-law was frequently carted away to hospital after collapsing in cafes or restaurants through eating meals which unbeknown to her at the time contained aspartamine in their preparation. I myself, as a diabetic, have to cut down on sugars but I will not use chemical substitutes. The only substance which is relatively safe is Splenda.
  22. "Methinks thee dost protest too much ...." (Freud, after Shakespeare)
  23. Yes, I filter stuff through MailWasher's bouncing too. I just wouldn't be happy just deleting it!
  24. Gape is doing a brilliant job. Don't hassle him!
