  1. **** Devil - you want someone here on the board to actually write the paper for you? If you are at university, I hope you find some motivation - or you won't be asked back for another semester. Try some google usage: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-...G=Google+Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...G=Google+Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...G=Google+Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...G=Google+Search LS_Dragons
  2. Godspeed MSNWar - give a quick holla when you are home. LS_Dragons
  3. Yeah FathrJACK - I knew it would be on TV world wide - just didn't think you Brits or any other non-Americans would give a rats @ss about it. hehehe LS_Dragons
  4. also- you say you 'transferred' - does that mean copied to hard drive 2 then deleted from hard drive 1? If you deleted, did you also empty recycle bin? LS_Dragons
  5. So, for those who care about "American" football, who is your pick for the Super Bowl. Personally, I am picking Tampa Bay and the Over for my 'make it interesting' wager -- all in fun of course. LS_Dragons
  6. Read this Knowledgebase article - you should be able to follow this to limit access to Internet Explorer for certain users: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;328326 LS_Dragons
  7. You will have to wait for someone to make a plug-in (just like previous versions of Media Player). Ou tof the box - it does not support ripping to MP3. LS_Dragons
  8. Both good suggestion - but won't work (re-read my post). If I could get to safe mode - or anything else in the install, I know what to do. I CANNOT BOOT into that installation of WinXP. I can boot to another install on same system, but that is not the one I want - it is virgin with no applications installed. What I wanted to do was boot to WinXP #2 and edit the registry of WinXP #1 (both installed as dual boot on same computer.) LS_Dragons
  9. Xperties - I just did a clean install of Nero 5.5.10 and burned 2 "Audio CD's" by selecting Create New CD -> Audio CD then drag and dropped 15 MP3 files into the project. As each one was dropped - Nero popped up a window saying "Analyzing file" -- Never saw an error or anything. Then when I had a CD full of songs - hit burn (my burner supports 12x burning) and about 10 minutes later it was done. It works fine on all tracks. I am saying this because I think you may have a burner issue. Try making an image of the disk - then burning that. You may be having buffer problems. Or as suggested above - lower the burn speed in Nero. Keep us posted LS_Dragons
  10. Check this page out - and the watch the videos on it. Just like 007's car - hide in plain site: http://www.star.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/projects/M...EDIA/xv/oc.html LS_Dragons courtesy of Mike's List newsletter
  11. You cannot just change the name to ICO. To get the BEST results for XP icons (with alpha transparency etc) you need to save the image as a PNG. Then you can use many different tools to convert to actual icon files. The best is Axialis IconWorkShop. Very easy to use - but will cost a few bucks for a full version (or you can search real hard and find several freeware tools that are almost as good. LS_Dragons
  12. Thought this was a pretty funny 'toon LS_Dragons

  15. as was posted on the front page here back in Dec. 2002, Microsoft has been trying to force an XP site to close down. Now reported that the domain was all that was desired, and the site itself can continue. Story in The Inquirer here New Site Here LS_Dragons
  16. MS admitted a 'human error' caused all the hotmail/messenger issues last week. should be ok now ls
  17. OK - so I have something screwed up in my system AGAIN. I believe it has to do with installing Microsoft Money 2003. It loads a system tray applet at start up - and I think that is causing the problem - only new thing installed. System will boot to the password screen - then just freezes. The command to run that applet is not in the StartUp folder - so must be in the registry. How can I edit the registry if I cannot boot all the way to Windows XP. I can boot to XP (multi boot system) and all the drives are accessible. Any ideas? LS_Dragons
  18. a fairly inexpensive option - if your Video card does not Video In (as Drew said) is called Dazzla - I have one that is USB based and work very well. It also comes with some software - but not very good stuff - for editing. I have used Studio (v8) as well as ArcSoft ShowBiz. Like ShowBiz better - but I am very much a noob at this stuff. I think more experienced people like Studio better. You can also download MovieMaker 2 (beta) from Microsoft if you are on XP. Much better than original MovieMaker. Also - if your video camera is digital - you might be able to connect via FireWire (1394) - course your computer need that type of connection also. LS_Dragons
  19. The SCSI connector will get you TONS of very fast hard drive / CD Burner / DVD Burner connections - but as FthrJACK said, it will slow your boot time considerably - all the SCSI devices must identify and enumerate during boot. The PCI card will get you 2 more IDE connections which should handle 2 devices each - hard drives, CD or DVD burner - in any combination. Before going further - make sure your BIOS can handle all the additional devices you are planning - probably cannot boot to the "PCI" IDE devices - but maybe. Also - make sure you have available spots to mount the drives you will be adding. LS_Dragons
  20. Yep - Doggie is correct. With StyleXP or a hacked uxtheme.dll installed, there are numerous Linux Visual Styles. A very nice one is called Crystal - u can get the whole Crystalized set. Check here 1st: http://www.hardwaregeeks.com/board/showthr...ght=crystalized LS_Dragons
  21. Sort of wondering why you would even mess around with a 1/2 GB hard drive anyway. What are you going to do with it? Brand new "MANY" GB drives cost less than the cost of the time it will take you to get it FDISKED, Formatted, and installed. LS_Dragons
  22. This is a pretty good story. I heard about another '1st' baby of the new year - this one was 1 of 2 twins. The 1st twin was born at 11:58 PM on Dec 31 2002. The 2nd twin was born at 12:01 AM on Jan 1 2003. that will be great - twins with birth days on different days/years. hahahahaha LS_Dragons
  23. Anyone ever looked at the "language tools" now available on google? Here is a link: http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en You can get translations - like babblefish - as well as "use Google in you language". Check out some of the languages available. I like Elmer Fudd -- hehehe - Feewing Wucky? LS_Dragons
  24. Happy 2003 to all. Hey -- by the typos - looks like Sedative was having a pretty happy celebration :sorcerer LS_Dragons
  25. Hey FthrJACK - I bet, if you tried hard enough, you could figure out how to get Windows running on it. And Rick, if you could limit applications to only those made by MS - you could probably get more stability - if not absolutely 100% stable. Another thing to remember - most of us on this board are trying out ALL KINDS of beta this and trial that etc etc etc. We are the last ones to complain about stability. :-) LS_Dragons
